Oh where, oh where has my Meaty song gone? Oh where oh where can it be?

Fireball,

Today (April 21) I have been looking and asking around in music stores where I live for the "Couldn't Have Said It Better" single, but not only is it not being sold, no one seems to even know it exists.

I wondered if the New Zealand release date for the single has been pushed back. I am keen to know about the New Zealand situation, because I don't want NZ to be hit by distribution problems as well. I have had an email back from one local music chain, Soundsnz, who say that Universal will be releasing the album in NZ, but they know nothing about the single.

Thanks,
Shane.

I want to do my bit and buy a copy (or three, or five - Meat can maybe buy them back from me in a meet and greet in NZ - dreams are free I guess). I will start asking in Auckland this week and see if anyone knows anything.

I have emailed Universal in New Zealand and have asked about the single (and album), and will post here what they say.

Just a thought...as it's been the Easter period (public holidays), freight companies might not have been making deliveries to stores. I hope that's all it is (or a change in release date).

Tuesday, and still no single.

I gave up on waiting for Universal to reply to my email, so I rang them. They had no idea about the single, but they said the album MAY be released on 8th May.

Thanks for the info Shane. I don't listen to the radio, but I wounder if the stations are playing it yet?

I have had no luck in tracking the single down - think I shall buy online.

Still not tracked it down but thought this respone from Marbecks may be of interet:

Sorry, but we certainly haven't heard of any upcoming releases from Meatloaf except a "budget" release compilation that may possibly see the light of day late May.

Many apologies, but we hope we can still continue to be of service to you in the future.

Regards

I wounder what the "budget" CD is??????

Did you tell them about the new album, and suggest they get it in? I might email a few places and urge them to do so.

One music shop down here that I asked at (who knew nothing about the album or single), said there was some sort of "Best Of" compilation that was out on the 22nd of this month, but they got that from the allmusic.com site, and they didn't have that in their store.

It is not looking too good from this reply from Real Groovy

The title is 'I Couldn't Have Said It Better Myself' and it's
tentatively released here on the 8th May but more likely on the 15th.

Hey yeah - whenever I ask around at the CD stores here (Brisbane, Australia) they give me the good old "Are you sure its a new album? There's a best of coming in May..."

Oh, well... Let me see... YES - I'm fairly certain it's a new god damned album. God - it's only what should be one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Sheesh. I haven't bothered even trying for the single.

So - this 'new best of' is apparently called "Heaven Can Wait" which, after a little research, I concluded to be the same release as has been in the UK for some time - tracks from Bat 2, Live Around the World, WTTN and A Kiss Is A Terrible Thing To Waste. Now that you say its a budget CD I'm certain that's what it is - goes cheap, this one does.
