View Full Version : MLUKFC Camping trip??
With the hot summer approaching, and still no sign of having a Meat Loaf convention, what about having our own little camping trip??
Dunno when, where, how, why, or what....but that is why this thread is here.
If anyones interested say so, and we can work out where would be best for everyone, when (which month, how many days, which days...weekend/weekdays etc...).
What do you think?? :D
In theory it's a brilliant idea. Would be interested, depending on when and where.
Theres so many great spots in the country....it's just finding somewhere easy for everyone.
I would like somewhere by the sea....just as my two cents!
I know the coast will be difficult to get to for some people, but what you rek?
Well by the sea suits me fine, I live at Blackpool.
There are some decent camp sites over here.
Blackpool sounds very good to me! Do you know of many nice camping sites around there??
I know a man who does :D I'll phone him now.

i actually thought about connecting this to the nov show in wembley. but camping in nov might be a little hard to do. lol
In theory I'm up for it
(must be in aug or sept for me)
August is good for me...althought early mid august....i'm busy in liverpool at the end of that month!

One slight prolem... I do not do camping  !!
I need a steady bed and a bathroom !
They'll be bathrooms; no weeing in the bushes, and they have showers etc.
But as for a bed, you can get those fantsatic blow up beds now which are better than real beds! :P
Oh come on, it'll be a laugh!
Me too!! Unless its got ***s i dont go and i dont do caravans either!!!
Windy Harbour Holiday Centre

It mentions plenty about Caravans, but i dont know what the situation is with tents?
It does tents too :-)

They're those canvas thingys with poles, bits of string and zips.
Yeah, and if you listen really early in the morning it sounds like it's raining on one side. Sounds like a really heavily concentrated downpour. Only lasts a couple of minutes though then stops.

the more i think about it, the better it sounds....
that sounds like a really nice idea
(am I repeating myself?)
I've been trying to think up activites to do! It's gonna be great! New one which I'm definitely gonna try and sort out is a scavanger hunt! We did it at the last Queen convention with hysterical results!
Water fights, drinking games, scavanger hunt, twister tornements......other games that can be done outside.....football, rounders.....whatever anyone fancies really!

how about an outdoor karaoke? :lmao:
LOL! We can try !
Although i doutb you could shut me up for singing after a few! lol
Did I mention that I´m coming over in August?
Oh, yes I did... Just last night
:D! Perfect! You can join us then?! (hint: the answer is yes ;) )!!
If it's going to happen in August, wherever it is we're planning on staying need to know in good time.
:D! Perfect! You can join us then?! (hint: the answer is yes ;) )!!
I hope so!! That´s as close as it gets to a yes ;)
Would love to join you though!
Yes....August is too quickly snapped up....right, I suggest everyone PM's everyone they want to/think can make it!
Also ask if they have any other preference as to where they want to go...not everyone may want to go to Blackpool. Anywhere that is easiest to get to is good for me!

best thing for me would be close to one of the london airports (gatwick best, as flight is 68€, but flight to blackpool is 244€)
Other possibility would be if anybody could give me a lift.
I was thinking about what if we get a mini bus from london and drive it to whichever campsite, cause tbh a train to london is cheaper for me than to liverpool, so maybe we all meet up there?? Although I don't know who the driver is gonna be.
Obviously we all pitch in money wise for the hire and petrol!
If anyone wants to drive, pm me and i'll start looking into sorting things out!
We definitely need more feedback about where people want to go....the beach, the countryside, the nearest pub :-P! Whichever!
My god, I'm actually getting really excited about this now :D!

sounds good have a couple of tents - one that would fit about 8 people in but the wife would be with the 2 emmas in b & b. aug 18 out for me at wedding also new footi season starts so have too watch dates but well up for it did it years ago when doing youth work lol
did someone say waterfight ---------------------- boys v girls id say so
oh just thought will be in blackpool last week of augs staying at the plesure beach
Right, I propose:
Blackpool August 8th-10th (Wed-Fri). Tents mainly, but we can sort out Caravan and B&B for anyone who likes their comfort.
We can have a trip to all the blackpool attractions, picnic on the beach, games, waterfights, scavanger hunt, bbq etc etc.
We can do two sorts of services....1: (this is only if someone is willing to drive), hire a mini bus to take anyone from the south or travelling to the south, up to blackpool as trains will be expensive.
2: meet up at the blackpool trainstation to share a taxi to the campsite.
Or anyone is free to just drive.
Right, this is only an idea to work from. Everyone seems to want to just go with the flow, so here's a base to work from. ANyone got any problems with this?

04 Jun 2007, 12:27
didnt we choose to go to Germany, north sea coast?
Well you workout some sort of plan for that and then out of the two "packages" we can let everyone decide. I'm up for either really

So that puts us all in a caravan on the outskirts of Preston :wtf:
You REALLY know how to throw a good time Heli
i'll put you down as a maybe then ;)
Well, i suppose if noones really bothered, we can just let the idea rest. I'm not all that fussed
Not sure if the coming over to Germany idea still exists...
Anyway, found a lovely place for camping
http://www.camping-wremer-tief.de/1.html
Sorry, I know it´s only in German...
It´s as close as possible to the North Sea. Not very far away from Bremerhaven.
It doesn´t offer caravan hires, so just tents will be possible, but it´s really cheap!!
6,80€ per day!
And it really is a lovely place!
I visit that place quiet often myself, just to enjoy the view and great fresh air.
Well... just my two pence here :D
EDIT:
I have no clue if the little swim fun adventure thingy still exists... better, if it´s still opened!
The water slide is still there, I´m just not sure of you could actually use it lol

Sean, if I end up coming (just negotiating to see if it's practical at the moment) I've got a spare tent I can bring for you... bad news is it's a two-man tent, so only just about big enough for one person, but the good news is it's bright blue and says VOLVIC all over it, so you won't have any trouble finding it in the dark when you've been on the lemonade...
Here's a few more in the North Yorkshire area

Also near the coast...i like the look of this place as much as the one above, maybe even more so although it does seem in the middle of nowhere. It is a lot cheaper though.
Prices for all (http://http://www.manorhousewhitby.co.uk/about.html)

That's an idea, see if they do discounts for block bookings. But we'd need numbers first.

I AM STILL NOT STAYING IN A PIGGIN' TENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I'll ring up but only when we have atleast 10 definite numbers.
And with those numbers I want to know who's tenting it or who's caravaning it! :-)

Emma.....we get the point.....hence why there is an option to stay in a caravan.....now all you have to do is find someone to put up with you for a couple of nights.
It's gonna be best if people bunk up; otherwise it'll be a bit pricey.

Was thinking that too. There'll only be me from my end going. Six in the same boat = £150 ÷ 6, that means errrrrrrmmm..... cheaper.
Would work at £25 each if there were six of us sharing

Well give me a ball park figure... As I have Florida at the end of the month so it's sort of iffy if I can come but with a price I can work on then I'll see what I can do .

I'm started to get tempted by a caravan now! I wish I could predict the weather. Plus it'd be so funny all being in a caravan together!
But no...I have to tent it! It'd be too much of a laugh!

The bare minimum you would have to pay (thats if you were sharing a 2 bedroomed caravan with six sleeping) would be £25 for the two nights.

Well I really really want to come, but I have to wait and see when I'm going to have my holiday booked... if it doesn't clash, I'll be coming, and I'll be IN A TENT!!!!
No fun camping if you don't do it properly

No fun camping if you don't do it properly
Tent would be more fun, but I have no tent so have no choice. Am also guessing caravans and tents would be away from each other so we'd be split :(
I think my dad said we have a 5 man tent...i'll have 4 places spare if anyone wants to share.
i might be wrong though, so i'll have to check.
I will find out on monday but it looks like i shall be there in my little tent!
scaborough full of steep hills ?,whitby better 199 steps & has a bat connection
The Manor House Farm Campsite, or another whitby site you could reccomend?
Thing is, I doubt we'll be doing an awful lot. Scarborough has plenty nice attractions and we're closer to the beach there, so it's not so much of a trek to get down there...where as Whitby we'd be using cars alot.
But if you can convince me otherwise; I'm open for anything  :-P
the manor house is in hawkster a few miles out of whitby,i would suggest the youth hostel all indoors has lots of differant types of rooms from 2 bed >10 bed dorms & loads of room inside & out to enjoy think they start at £19 per person per night for members inc brekfast tried to put link up but wont let me go to www.yha.org/uk search whitby
looking for some campsites near as they dont do tents

Yeah, I agree. I would prefer doing the tent/caravan thing. Cooking our own food on little gas grills and bbqing it in the evening....playing footy and frizbee's outside and scaring each other in the middle of the night :-P

No it's a good idea, and I do appreciate it and we could even do it another time....maybe during the colder months or something...
...but I'm really up for a camping trip, in the great outdoors :)

following problem might occur:
if half of us are staying in tents and the other half are staying in caravans, we might be in different sections of the campsite, far away from each other.
Is there one of those places, which would give us like one corner of their area where we can do what we want, put caravans and/or tents or whatever.
Someone should ring them
Work for you heli :p
have emailed a place in northumberland which has camping area & lodge for the softies will get back to all soon
camping is £3.50 pppn

C) Tent, I have a small tent for me or 6-man tent in the loft which we think might be OK.
I should warn people that, alledgedly, I snore. Well, i say snore. I actually make a noise reminiscent of 500 wilderbeast charging majestically across the plains!!! I can confirm this as i have woken myself up by snoring in the past!!

Company I work for is going through restructuring and the week of the camping trip is smack in the middle of the three week slot for expressions of interest, applications and interviews for the new jobs in the new management structure.
I'm compared a water fight with you to a job and I'm afraid the job won (only just lol).
