View Full Version : Cooking Inspiration needed.
I need some help (no, not that sort of help!).
Next Wednesday i am cooking for the lass's family but am stuck for inspiration. We are having a gazpacho soup to start and a Lemon Meringue Pie for afters. And for the main course....I dunno!
If anyone has a flash of inspiration, could they share it please. At the moment i am torn between a game pie (rabbit, pheasant, pigeon and whatever else i can get) or a roasted rib of beef which is nice but not really paticularly exciting!!!
Any ideas???

Sorry, you shouldn't have mentioned gazpacho soup, can't get Rimmer and Lister outta me head now!!!!!!
It will be a nice Hot bowl of gazpacho of course!
Ask the lass what her family would prefer...easy...
Have you tried the BBC website - in their food section you can type in an ingredient or 2 and they will come up with the recipes available from all their shows, past and present.
Short of that, I have a great family recipe for pork pie if you want it. Let me know

Rimmer was never invited back to the captains table again, and so he became convinced that it was this one incident that blighted his career.

erm...it was late and it was too long for me to read properly...plus Red Dwarf is a British thingie...don't think we ever had it here...

Chris, how about some lovely salmon, with new potatoes, baby veg (green beans, baby carrots, baby sweetcorn) and Hollandaise sauce?
Failing that, try chicken with goat's cheese, pesto and pine nut stuffing, served with diced roasted potatoes and oven roasted tomatoes on the vine...

Some people might find game pie unappealling, the thought of eating rabbit and pigeon doesn't sit well with some, although I love'em, so I'd stay away from that. Try a 3 cheese (4 if you want) mixed mushroom (shitake, portabello, oyster, swiss and whatever else you can get) and ham (Parma, pastrami, salami, etc) pasta. Never fails.

And to drag this thread kicking and screaming off topic, my Red Dwarf claim to fame is that I used to gig at The Aigburth Arms every Saturday night 8)
For those who are unaware of the significance of this, I shall explain.....
The main character of Red Dwarf is a chap from Liverpool named Dave Lister.
Dave Lister was (or should I say, will be) abandoned by his natural parents, being left in a cardboard box under the pool table of the Aigburth Arms on 26th November 2155.
I HAVE PLAYED POOL ON THAT TABLE 8)
