When I was seven, I met our Bundespräsident (head of state, like your Queen....ish) Richard von Weizsäcker. He gave a speech at our city and my grandma took me to the stage to shake his hand (didnt want to, lol)

Pat Jennings (Ex Arsenal and N Ireland goalkeeper) at Buckingham Palace ... received his OBE the same day my dad was awarded his MBE near enough 30 years ago.

Noddy Holder from Slade in the Tesco that I used to use near Macclesfield.

Morten Harkett (of A-Ha fame) spilt my pint in Harrogate at the "height" of their fame.

There are others "famous" people that I've met that I admire for what they have achieved in their lives but they're not really celebrities as such.

And I once saw Dame Norma Major two checkouts over from me in Tesco in Huntingdon, which is the nearest large-ish town to where she lives just up the road from me.

A few years ago we went to Malta on holiday and Status Quo were doing a concert on the island while we were there. The band were staying at the same hotel as us and they stayed for a few days to have a break in the sun with their families.

It was very funny to see Francis Rossi swimming lengths of the pool wearing a swimming cap to protect his hair! And Rick Parfitt was parading about in tiny leopardskin trunks.

I didn't see anyone bothering them. In fact we seemed to be the only ones who approached them to ask if we could take a photo. They were very nice and friendly. I'm not going to post the photos though to spare you all the sight of Francis in swimming cap, Rick in leapordskin trunks and me in bikini :lol:

I used to work for the company that was running Real Estate Expos all over the country.

They booked him for 3 appearances each 1/2 hour each one million dollars...and now you know how to make money too...

So...we were working Expo...he was working it too...sort of...he is ok guy...actually we did take time to listen to his 1/2 hour lecture...it was very decent and not at all boring as those things can be...

Former Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu - mega-charmer with the ladies; can work a room as well as Clinton does; one of the best speakers I've ever heard.
Former CIA Chief W. James Woolsey - very nice fellow and wanted to speak to everyone he met. He filmed his speech for the organization in our Exec's office, and we had a mini-reception for him afterwards.
US Congress Representatives Anthony Weiner - NY, and Jim Saxton - NJ - two gung-ho hard workers in Congress; Saxton one of the nicest guys you'll meet.
Best of all - frequent contact with Ed Ames - the lead singer for the 50's group The Ames Brothers, and played the Indian in the 50's-60's US TV series Daniel Boone. Very tall (6'4), distinguished fellow who's real nice, voice still great at age late 70's; very passionate about his interests.

Met at the Metropolitan Opera, NY:
Marilyn Horne - grand gal; very down to earth; full of humor
Luciano Pavarotti - very friendly, like a puppy, and a wicked, constant flirt!
Placido Domingo - met a long time ago - very nice, a bit shy then
Tony Randall - actor/opera fanatic - friendly; knew everyone it seemed.

Met at Tanglewood summer concert theatre of the Boston Symphony Orchestra - Leonard Bernstein - long time ago; intense, sensitive to all around him; constantly talking to anyone/someone.

Met in Boston at Boston Opera theatre, then at the Metropolitan Opera and Philadelphia Lyric at the Academy of Music:
Dame Joan Sutherland - Great lady; has wonderful humor with the Australian touch; would always admit regular fans: showed she felt comfortable with repeated visits from fans she knew.
At this Boston Opera theatre, saw Jacqueline Kennedy go by on her way to the dressing rooms - was close enough to touch - very beautiful, very slight polite smile as she was escorted past us.

Met at lecture in Manhattan:
The late Bishop Paul Moore - leader of the Episcopal Church of NY - fantastic speaker; fabulous person to meet. Interested in everyone. Bishop Moore was very well known here in NY and in the Episcopal church.

Met in Off-Broadway theatre:
William Atherton - was Walter Peck in Ghostbusters. Played a scumbag in the play I saw him perform - but real nice to talk to.

The Saalwette (you can see how long ago it was, because it was a Saalwette back then, no Stadtwette like they´re doing now) was something about employees of the company my dad works for so we drove to our Stadthalle and we, amongst about 50 others, were asked to go on stage to do the Saalwette.

WOW! That's an impressive list. I've briefly met Meat Loaf (too cool), Patti Russo (so lovely), Pat Thrall (so dreamy), and John Miceli (a sweetheart). I've also briefly met Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac (both still gorgeous and still can rock) and Reba McEntire (very down-to-earth).

I'm an usher at the moment at the Old Vic Theatre and he's the artistic director. I don't usually see him so much but a new play has just started at the theatre so he's in alot at the moment.

:D Yeah i love them both too! Especially Green Wing. See when i first moved down to London my friends made me watch Green Wing as I had never seen it before; I absolutely fell in love with it! So when i found out my favourite person in it was going to be in the new show I had to stay down here till i had seen it! Stephen is brilliant, he does the funniest warming up thing as well. He runs around the theatre before doors open then returns to the stage and acts like a monkey. Always amusing to watch!

Jessica is a brilliant actress too. She's so interesting to watch. It's weird seeing her as a more straight actor though, but still good :D
