View Full Version : VERY SAD news for New Zealand fans...

The CHSIB single will most likely not be released in NZ.

TeamNZfan, one of the other NZers here, gave me the news which she got from a music retail website here, and they said the single will not be released here. I'm still quite upset about it....*sniff sniff*

I'd still like to hear something `official' about this from higher up (Meat, his management, whoever), but there doesn't seem to be much hope.

We in NZ don't have the option of trying to make the single sell well (in order to change the minds of the record company) if it won't be sold here at all. The album will be here though so that's gotta be good I guess.

Don't worry Shane,

we have plenty to share. Jules tried to buy 20, but one site only took 10 as 1, so we only get 11!

But wait, the 10 has only been filled as 3. So now we may have 4 all total.

Seems like Meat got screwed by the record company, they only released 6,600 copies of the single. It's a keeper with Unsaid on there. Or maybe those geniouses will figure that Meat can sell. I think I'd be looking for another company to release BOOH III, myself.

That said, did you see Meat and the band rock London today? How cool.

T

BTW, you scared me, I thought you meant he wasn't going to NZ.

Sad, sad state of affairs indeed. Looking on the postive side, thank goodness for AMAZON - I have been putting a few orders their way recently. Just think, we in NZ are a part of helping CHSIBM (single and CD) enjoy the sucess it so well deserves. And looking at the history of BOOH, perhaps the record company will yet again have mistaken the selling power of Meat.

Woh... talking to Meat... Unbelievable.

And Australia too? (Asked Bohemian, with big puppy dog eyes...)

I can't wait to see you on TV out here after listening to all the rgeat reports of your concerts and promo stuff in Europe.

Need this album! Need need need,

Thanks for answering Meat! I thought singles would have helped album sales, especially as NZ doesn't get as much exposure to you as countries like the UK, US and Germany do, but if the album gets onto the album charts that's gotta be good! And if you're coming here, that's even better! I've gotta look more on the bright side of things I guess...

Question for Fireball:
I know you're touring Australia, but why hasn't the album been released here yet? I thought we'd get it the same time as the U.K.
When should I expect something?

I don't know about the Australian situation, but the album will be released in NZ on either the 8th or 15th of May, so maybe Australia will be the same.

Hey rockfenris2005,

Where is it that you are from? I can't wait for Meat to come here... Never seen him live. Hopefully he will actually do the whole country so I don't have to go down to Sydney or Melbourne to see him.

How cool is this, a reply from Meat re the NZ situation!! I am stoked that he reads about NZ.

So there will be promo over here. Perhaps the Paul Holmes show? He interviews most of the big stars. Any snippets of where else to catch Meat on TV would be gratefully received.

Also, remember Auckland held the Amercias Cup yachting regatta recently and we have a wounderful waterfront. Would be an excellent promotion to have the band and Meat on a superyacht and singing CHSIBM live!!

(Perhaps I could be one of the chosen invited guests??)

I don't know where he might be seen in NZ apart from concerts. An appearance on Holmes would be great! A performance on prime time TV!

Over the years he has been in various newspaper articles. Last year when the "Classic Albums: Bat Out Of Hell" screened here, he got a pretty decent write up in the Dominion Post.

Well, that's the first I've heard the Single isn't being released here.

Nice to hear though we haven't been forgotten by the man himself. Radio may forsake those who make them their money, but we can always count on ML to kick ass :)

Cheers

The record company (I actually rang them) said that performers basically have to have a profile like someone such as Britney Spears to have singles released.

And I got conflicting stories about when the album will be released in NZ. The first time I talked to them (record company Universal), they said the 8th. Then I talked to a music retail chain who said more likely the 15th. Then later I talked to Universal again and they said early June!

Well, I already have the album, but I want other NZers to discover the joy of Meat.

I'm trying to be patient, I really am...

AYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????

The record company says Meat doesn't have a profile, is that what you mean? I hope you had some choice words to say about THAT to them!

I would say my mother knows who Meat Loaf is more than Britney Spears.

I'm holding out to get the album for my birthday this month, so it gets listed as an NZ buy...but that enchanced CD from the UK is looking very inviting.

I didn't want to be rude to the person who I was speaking to (Tania), although it was tempting. I was basically ringing up to seek information.

She said no other singles would likely be released either, although they might be swayed by an excellent result in another country (I got the impression this meant in the top 10). I cited the example of "I'd Lie For You...", the last single released here, and she said that did poorly. I think it got to 16. She mentioned the UK situation but I forgot to tell/remind her about Mercury's position on the CHSIB single release.

I asked her what promotion they had in store for the new album. She said that was confidential, but the impression I got was that nothing was planned. She also said they might get Meat down here for some promo dates, which seems to fit in with what Meat has said about coming to NZ. She also said they had the rights (I can't remember exactly what language she used) to programmes such as Storytellers, and they might be screening that later this year.

I forgot to ask her if there would be any" radio only" singles. Probably not.

I asked Marbecks for the track list of the album that will be releasd here, and they gave me the track listing for the German one with the bonus disc (that doesn't include the live BOOH).
