 If Bat III had been a bigger success, it might have come off, but as it wasn't released on the tails of the success of Bat II, I doubt it.

It occurs to me that it's ironic that Arista is famous for the ammount of compilation albums they squeezed off the three albums Meat recorded for them, but they couldn't even be bothered to include stuff that is so far unavailable on CD.
Also, there seems to be worryingly few Arista compilations about lately :bleh:

That could be because Arista is now owned by the Sony-BMG group who release pretty much all of their stables compilations and re-issues through the Legacy Recordings label.

 Still no compilations flying round off those three albums though.

Someone somewhere has no faith that Meat Loaf material can sell quantities to be worth the bother.

True. But then the Meat Loaf compilations have been done to death over the years haven't they? How many more CDs containing the same songs in a different order do we really need?

That's debateable  !!

 To be perfectly honest, none, personally.

However, my first Meat Loaf cassette (God, that makes me feel old  ) was a compilation, and compilations do have their own place in attracting/encouraging new fans, so I can't put them down too much.

Whatever.

The point being in this case that nobody asked for 20 years if there were too many compilations bandied about with material from the same three albums.

Then, just as Bat III comes out and you would expect the record companies to UP production of ML releases, they disapear
