""They're building Quarter Pounders with Cheese that you get from the drive-through window and you eat with your plastic paper, drink with the Coke in the plastic cup and you're done and it's in the trash on your exit from McDonald's. That's the music business. It comes wrapped in a paper thing and a paper cup and it's disposable. There's no fine china.""

[quote] "I love 'Bat,' I love doing 'Bat.' It's such a workout," he said, adding that his rendition of the finale isn't perfect. "The song ends on three high C's — I don't hit them all." [quote]
Quite an admission, maybe the whole cyst thing has convinced him to not try and hit exactly the same notes as 1977...i think when he's more relaxed (like storytellers) he's a better singer, but that's just my opinion.
Good article though.

Does it really matter if there are a few notes that Meat either doesnt hit or can't hold for as long as he used to?
Even with the odd bad or short note Meat still gives a much better performance than most of the other artists who play live. The only other artists that come close to giving as good a performance as Meat are other "long standing" ones such as Aerosmith, The Stones etc.

Which is a funny admission, considering that the song has not been in the key where he'd actually have to hit a high C since the 1978 "Bat" tour. As per the 1982 Wembley video, it's been a half-step lower ever since. Not a criticism, but just kind of odd...of course he doesn't hit them all, he doesn't hit them at all, they're not high C's anymore! As for not hitting all the high notes, that's understandable.

Also, he does 4 "high C's" live, not 3.
