why did security ruin it ?

22 Mar 2008, 15:49
Oh 25th I meant .

I went to my seat and had two massive people infront of me so all I could see was pitch black so I went to this security guard and explained this and he told me that he would see what he would do and said he would be back, however this guy never came back and it got to Objects and I had missed all that Meat said, I thank Michael for capturing it !! Because it was then they decided to come and talk to me and tell me that I had to go back to my seat and not stand in the asle which I was not blocking btw and I still could not really see, however they shunted me to this seat and I was crying then for the rest of the show, it just totally ruined my night.

not really the security guys fault then I'd say.

unfortunatly for us shorter folk that happens alot at shows, they have to keep people in their seats otherwise i guess it might as well be a standing show, this is why alot of us try so hard and pay so much to get in the first few rows, i have been to many concerts where i couldnt see a thing, sheffield in may was one, even as tall as m is he couldnt see anything either, in those situations you just have to enjoy the music and the atmosphere.
You may not have been blocking the aisle but someone sees you getting away with it, then they think they can do it then it goes on and then the aisle does get blocked, see where i'm going with this ;) I'm sorry you didnt enjoy the show but you do need to change your expectations when you are that far back hun

sorry to hear that Emma, but that has happened to me before, tall people in front of me,just gritted my teeth and enjoyed the show.....except recently at WWF at wembley when they kept standing right in front of me,i politely asked them to sit as we couldnt see a few times which did not work, then very

I haven't seen Bill Wyman & all his Rythmn Kings but I did see Mike Sanchez, the guy on the far right of Andy's pic, a few months back. He played a solo gig here on Guernsey and the guy is a genius. It was just him singing & playing piano. He played everything from blues, rock 'n' roll, soul ... you name it. For the last hour or so of his set he took requests from the audience and just played whatever we asked for.

I chatted with him after the show and he's an extremely friendly guy. I'd certainly pay to see him again.

Thats meant to be great, was it good ?

samurai7
02 Apr 2008, 20:29
I thought it was great, althought the others who were with me, who'd all seen the show many times before said it was one of the worst they'd seen, in comparison with earlier productions in Hamburg and Stuttgart.

Battybarb
02 Apr 2008, 23:17
Do you think it might have been cos they had seen it before,a couple of people who come in my pub have seen it and said it was great

samurai7
03 Apr 2008, 04:00
I'm talking about people who have seen the show lots of times, with various different companies, in various different cities. They noticed little changes that have been made - remember it opened 10 years ago in Vienna, and has played in Stuttgart and Hamburg. There've been a few different Graf von Krolocks, Sarahs, Alfreds etc. There have also been prductions in Hungary and Japan, although I don't think any of the group I went with have seen the latter. These last two shows may not have been the best they've seen, but at least they all agreed on one thing: it wasn't as bad as the New York incarnation (thank God!)

I personally thoroughly enjoyed it. The only niggle I had was that sound wasn't loud enough for my taste, and I was sat right at the front! It's all academic now, though, as the show has now closed in Berlin. Next production will be in Oberhausen, starting in November, with a different cast. No word yet on who will be the principals, but apparently Tomas Borchert, who was 1st Krolock in Berlin is not due to appear as he's performing in another show at the time the new production is due to open. But I'd definitely recommend seeing it if you can. I'll never forget the experience!

I know that the original cast members went on the road as The Commitments not long after the movie.
A friend of mine saw them play while Andrew Strong was still with the band.

If they're still touring i'll have to get to one of their gigs.

they weren't all original members, as Glen Hansard, who played guitarist 'Outspan' (and fronts 'The Frames') has just won an oscar for best song in a movie for 'Falling Slowly', as featured in 'Once'. He starred in the film and performed the music with Marketa Irglova and has never had anything to do with subsequent tours. I'm pretty sure they now go under the banner 'Dave Finnegan's Commitments', with Dave being the guy who played Mickah Wallace, the drummer/bouncer in the movie The Commitments.

Chip was there with his friend from way back..as the support. They did a fabbo 'Stumpfy Goes to Bognor' and a tragic tale about missing Jimmi Hendrix on the Isle of Wight by minutes because said friend wanted to get on the ferry..and then Jimmi dies the following week. The song was about the grudge Chip still bears. ere's a pic of him waving the dvd which is the only way they can see Jimmi now!http://media.mlxxfc.net/DSC02181-1.JPG

... okay okay !! ... got one... hehe... SAME one... different show... i saw Peter Tork and his band Suede Shoes Blues... and WHAT a grand time i had... mind you ...okay ? ... it's not a concert but a show at a nearby club ... a very funny opening act... Matt Roach ... a guy with a guitar... who reminded me in looks and humor of Jack Black ... he sang a very funny song about being the opening act... it's on YouTube... i'll nab and post it later...

and then Peter and the band ... mind you ... i've been a fan of his since... 1966 ... ... back in the heyday i helped to run a couple chapters of his fan club... and now i go to his shows whenever possible when he's in town ... there was a time i would call and talk to him on the phone ... no worries...

and seeing him just takes me back in time ... and brings me up to current... as he plays a few Monkees' tunes... but what he really enjoys playing and is focused on is the blues ... through Peter i was introduced to the music of Bach back in 1966 ... and now ... the blues ...

but best of all ? ... he had with him cds for sale... one version which had gone out of production... i was thrilled i'd be able to purchase it to complete my little collection of Peter solo albums ... and what do you think ? ... for my long time loyalty... bless him ... he signed it with love... and wouldn't take my money !!! ... i wept a bit at his kindness... OH... and he remembered me... lol ... and there were gentle hugs and kisses ...

a fine time was had...

Steve Steinman with his Bat Symphony on Wednesday in Northampton @ The Derngate. The show is an interesting take on the original MSO experience.
It's all coming back to me now by Emily Clark was fab and indeed works much better as a solo song sung by a girl. Intro to AFL was amazing with the orchestra I have to say. Alive was probably the highlight for me as Steve and the band did a great job on that and I've never heard it live. Who knows, may never hear it again! :-(
Glad Steve recognises Bat 3 is a great album and has indeed left the teddy bear hanging.

Whilst not the best songwriter in the world, he's up there amongst the greats as a guitarist, this is no slight on Randy at all (who is superb), but he does put him in the shade for playing I'm afraid.

After the show he spent well over an hour in the foyer of The Lowry theatre meeting fans, posing for photos and signing autographs. He may be one of the shortest men in rock and roll, but he's awesome!

He's guitarist with The E Street Band, Neil Young & Grin if you don't know who I'm on about

I certainly know of him but can't say I've sought out any of his music but it sounds like it was a good night.

I like the idea of small venues where the artist can interact with the fans before or after the show without charging a small fortune in the process.

My last one was in September. It was Toby Keith/Trace Adkins. Jaron and the Long Road to Love opened. Love all three of those guys!

Going to see Mark Chesnutt in May

I have a list of 4 must-see-before-I-die's and I've now seen 2.

I've seen Alabama and Toby Keith. Now to see Meat and Neal McCoy.

Have to update. Just saw Mark Chesnutt (http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1976559290396.2115919.1135510601&l=588d5152ca) a couple weeks ago. The main band was stranded in Tennessee due to the flooding so they just used guitars and a fiddle.

WOW! Still an awesome show!

Good stuff all around! Panic! was awesome and Foxy Shazam is not to be missed.

Bon Jovi on Monday down at Ashton Gate stadium in Bristol, with Cathie... Absolutely fantastic show, my amazing hubby bought us Diamond Circle tickets as an anniversary pressie, so we were about six people back from the stage, and I got some brilliant pictures, which are up on my Facebook page. Jon did the whole show with a big brace on his knee from where he sprained one of the ligaments in it during a show in Helsinki, I've seen the video of him injuring it and have to say he's incredibly professional - one yelp of pain and then he completed the song!

I'm thrilled to bits to have seen that show from that close, I got a pic of Jon that looks as though he's looking right at me *swoon* (obviously he was, it's because I had my hair done specially before I went) and he sang nearly all of my favourites. Best start saving for the next tour then!

I saw Neil Diamond in Birmingham on 28th June.

He was good and I enjoyed the show but I didn't get that 'wow' feeling that I was hoping to get from seeing someone I've liked for so long. I'll admit that the best concert I've ever been to was on my mind and I kept thinking that Neil wasn't capturing my attention like a certain someone did.

Awesome, awesome show! I saw it last September.

My last concert was Peter Frampton at Ravina Park; he played all of "Frampton Comes Alive" to celebrate the album's 35th anniversary. I loved it! :D

Next up...Paul McCartney on Aug. 1. :-)

I have a nosebleed seat so I think I'm going to do the giggly fan thing and get there very early to check out the ins and outs of the place before the show ... ...

Roger Daltrey at Marlay Park in Dublin, last night.

Good show, he played Tommy all the way through (which was ok but not something i'd go out and buy) The other Who songs he played and covers were really good.

We had a good meet and greet with him before the show as well, really nice guy.

Last concert for me was on July 19th. The tix was a gift from a friend. Saw Motley Crue with Poison and The New York Dolls. The drum roller coaster that Tommy Lee plays is absolutely insane to see. Nikki Sixx said "Drums should not be played upside down." Thank goodness Tommy does. The Crue rocked!!! Awesome show
