View Full Version : Dead Ringer For Love - Another new album
Meat Loaf - Dead Ringer For Love (The Meat Loaf Collection) is due out on 5th May 2008.
Oh fabulous, another compilation album we'll dicuss whether to spend money on or not and then not have to buy because it won't appear!
Excuse my sarcasm, we do thank you for the updates Kev

 Could never see that happening RJ.
Trying to get not two but THREE record companies to co operate with each other sounds like a losing battle to me :wtf:

well if i remember correctly it was due to release at some point last year, just dont know what happened to it.
No, it's been removed from the listings. Sony BMG were going to release it but something happened behind the scenes and the release was panned.
I dunno if this one will come out, Sony are usually good at churning out the Meat Loaf cd's.

 I know it was supposed to happen, and then dropped RJ
I was hopeful the first time around, but it's obvious the three record companies just can't get it together

The cover does look different..
One question. All the colection's that are released of Meat Loaf never contain Anything For Love, unless I've missed some.
I thought a 'collection' is where the best fo his music is placed onto one cd. I also noticed bat isn't on there.... come on, Bat Out Of Hell is THE song that made him famous!
Confuses me a little. Its prob justme reading between the lines....

A collections is just that, a collection of songs. A "best of" would/should include the best an artists has to offer (and the record company can release), a "greatest hits" should/would include the greatest hits. A collection? As long as it isn't a definitive or complete collection, nothing is implied besides being a selection of songs.
Sony can't release Anything for Love, since that one was released by Virgin and MCA.
It seems to me, that Sony can now include tracks from Bad Attitude and BBIS because Arista (Meat's European record label at the time), is now owned by Sony BMG.
Other than that, I think I'll pass on this one.

I get you know...
I reckon it would be nice to see the Greatist Hits Live Cd that contains all Meat's songs he's done live is possible. I think that would great to have.. imo
There is, it's called 'Live Around The World' :P

Agreed.
And I'd hardly call yet another lousy budget compilation with seemingly no theme other than 'the tracks we can afford to license' a new album.

That you would mean you'd be missing out on "If God Could Talk", "You're Right (I Was Wrong (when I recorded this))", "Special Girl", "Man and a Woman", "If this is the Last Kiss", "Unsaid", "Thrashin'", "Jumpin' the Gun" and "You Never Can Be Too Sure About the Girl".
And still, if such an album would be released, I would buy it just to have a copy of Thrashin' that I didn't piece together myself.

I quite like Unsaid, better than the boring Decadent Wish anyday

Good job we're all different then isn't it because there's at least 5 on there that I listen to regularly and imo Unsaid is grossly underated.

As is Decadent Wish IMO. Would have much preferred that on CHSIB to Why Isn't That Enough, which to me is far too much of a poor 2oo3 clone rip off.

I agree too, I like both Meat's version and Michael Duff's demo acoustic version...I think he has put it on an album now far as I know...which I must get at some stage.
I've never heard Unsaid so I can't comment on it, but Man and a Woman has always sounded like a bad two man pub rock band to me...but then there's a lot of the Blind Before I Stop album that I wouldn't bother listening to.
I prefer his live versions of songs from that period.
Priscilla could go on that list as well, along with because of you

In fact I rate a few songs mentioned here very highly.
Unsaid, Decadent Wish, and If God Could Talk are amongst my favorites.
In fact, on the CHSIB album, probablly my least fav song is CHSIB itself.
I know one Meat fan who isn't too keen on Bat Out Of Hell :wtf:

Thrashin' (http://mljs.evilnickname.org/?page=meatloaf/ost/thrashin.html) is a (completely forgettable) song Meat recorded for the movie of the same name. The soundtrack wasn't released, so the only place to find it is in the movie. Part of it plays under the opening credits, and another part during the end credits.
Where's that b'stard? :kickass:
