I have to say that after goign to the Glasgow SECC gig last May, and after watching 3 Bats Live DVD, that the original 3 Bats Tour was indeed the best gig I have ever seen.
The band were totally awesome, and the versions of the songs fantastic.
For me this is what stood out;
The Band:
Meat - In good voice and generally seemed to enjoy the setlist,
CC - Really came in to her own on this tour, was never really impressed by her until this one, now i feel she is an important member of the NE.
Aspen - Great vocalist and brought new life to the songs we have heard so often. Her version of the Anything For Love will always be remembered by me as the greatest version. My only wish is that IACBTMN with Aspen and Meat was recorded for the DVD, because those two brought the house down singing that at the second Glasgow gig several months later. She will bew sorely missed.
Paul and Randy - Is there anything these two lads cannot do with those guitars, each time I hear them play I get completely blown away. Randy's solo before TOOTAB is awesome.
The SetList -
The songs on this tour were by far the best Ive heard so far, and for those who do not know, I have been to some 10 or 11 concerts now.
Particular favourites were;
Two Out of Three Aint Bad- The live performances of this song always make me have goosebumps, I totally love what Meat does with this song, and this version was incredible, loved the solos from the boys.
OITRVMMACTTA - This is my favourite song on the dvd, and performed live on this tour. This song sent chills down my spine, I loved so much, and the girls singing their hearts out, made me tingle.
AFL - By far the greatest version I have ever heard of this song. Aspen brought new life to it and she has the perfect voice for her vocal part.
Lemon - Improved version of a song which was becoming a little redundant and boring to be honest, loved what Meat done to it for this tour. Hope this version is retained for future concerts.
Blind As A Bat - I love this song so much, its a song which should have been released as a single and blasted out the people of the world to show what Meat can really do. The live version was icnredible, was really disappointed it was dropped for the second part of the tour. Please Meat, bring it back.
Rock and Roll Dreams - Having not heard this song live for a while I was surprised to see it back in, but love this song so much, and this version was again one of the best Ive ever heard, I loved the ending to it, brings a tear to the eye, dont you think.
Well those were just some of my thoughts of the last tours, and with Meat about to embark on his next tour, I hope some of the versions of the these songs will be retained. My only hope is that now Patti is back, I hope CC isnt pushed away into the background after she has done so well to emerge as an integral part of the band. Love ya CC.
What do you guys think......

Have to agree with you on that Glasgow show, CMcKiss. It was absolutely brilliant and I enjoyed it immensely for the same reasons as you. Seeing Rock And Roll Dreams live was especially amazing.
The October one was great for me too for various reasons - a large one being that my friend and I had loads of interaction with the band that night and at one point even had Meat take the mick out of us because we were cheering Randy on every time he came over to play in front of us :oops:
I think if I had been in standing rather than seating for my first Meat concert (Jan '04) it would've been my favourite. I can't describe how incredible the atmosphere was, Meat & Patti's antics made me laugh and almost cry and the whole experience blew me away.

Leeds Millennium Square 25th July 2002.
Small venue outdoors right in city centre. Was not a big fan of damon LaScott until that concert but he was just amazing. Meat was on fire probably the strongest vocally I have ever heard him and was obviously having fun. Think maybe Patti doing the warm up and me being stood with my hand on the stage all night may have helped as well.

Agreed !!
It was my first and I formed many wonderful long lasting friendships from it .
Wembley...not enough that I've seen Meat outside of America which is quite a different experience...but I also got to meet some very dear to my heart peeps...
Blickling for obvious reasons

Given this thread's in General Messages I assume it's just the greatest Meat concert attended?! Don't think I could pick one...
Newcastle 1996 was my first show so that'll always be special to me, RAH was wonderful, Manchester '07 was the first time I saw Rock and Roll Dreams live which I'll never forget, the Bat Cave in Glasgow, thinking about Meat's vocals I'd say the second night at Birmingham last year was the best ML I've seen, obviously shows where I've met him are memorable...can't choose!

April 1996 in the Point Depot in Dublin...that tour had original sin, left in the dark, amnesty is granted and where the rubber meets the road...which was cool.
And also the screens in the background for the videos associated with most of the songs.
For instance for two out of three ain't bad He said something along the lines of "You'll recognise Jimmy in this video...alongside some other young guy singing"
The first concert memory of seeing Meat in December 2994, was during Anything for Love, Meat had his arm outstretched to our side of the crowd and the amount of people jumping up, including myself, trying to touch his hand was incredible!

You people saying the RAH was the best must have been at a different show than me  I mean, there was a great atmosphere there, and Objects was amazing, but it was nowhere near the best show I've seen Meat do. For a start, Liverpool Pops 05 (18th - can't speak for the 12th ;)) was waaaaaaay better vocally and sound-wise.
For me, though, the best Meat show I've seen was Cardiff in December 1993. I was 15 at the time, and it was my first ever concert. I had to wait 2 and a half years to see him again, on the Born to Rock/Welcome To The Neighborhood tour. I've been to at least one show (but usually more) on every tour since, except Storytellers. Missed that one for some reason
That Liverpool concert is my 2nd favourite It was an amazing show, we got moved closer to the front and Meat seemed to really enjoy himself too!!
Melbourne is my all time favourite lol!!

I agree about RAH. To me it wasn't the greatest because there was no chemistry in the show at all. I missed Patti's vocals on all the songs but especially on Lemon. That one really sounded odd to my ears.
I saw 6 shows on the Bat II tour and I loved all of them. Meat sounded great (and I love the band now) but that was probably my favorite line-up. When Kasim, Steve, Mark, and Pat would sing harmony and then Patti's voice would take the lead, it was perfection. And Meat and Patti already had incredible chemistry even on their first tour.

That was my 17th birthday and my tickets were a present from my mum and dad. It was also the 4th time I had been to see him by that time!!!!!!!!!
Agreed that it was a good concert but the RAH has to be the best one I have had the pleasure of attending, and all them have been a pleasure.

I'd go with Wembley 1999, my first Meat concert. Hearing the first notes of "Home By Now/No Matter What" sent such a shiver down my spine, I don't think anything else has ever compared.

I have to update this...for one that I';m surprised no one picked up on my concert being in december 2994!
and secondly that I would have to rank Liverpool as one of the best Meat Loaf shows overall that I have been to...probably a lot to do with meeting a load of people, and being so close to the stage and not having to stand for ages...still was a great night

If I live to the year 2994 I'll be sure to attend that show - thanks for the heads up!

Does this have to be Meat Loaf specific? because of it isn't then Prince's Trust, Hyde Park, London 1996 with The Who, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton and Alanis Morrisette was probably the greatest concert I ever attended.

My favourite or most memorable would have to be the Bad Attitude tour for affects at the time. Meat has produced many better songs than at that time IMHO but the stage was amazing. That tour was released on video, not sure where it was filmed but I saw the Manchester Apollo gig. There was a huge motorbike on stage and the drummer & drum kit was on the seat of the bike (it wasn't JM at the time, can't remember who it was), MA was on keyboards on the handlebars if I remember rightly, the guitarists and Meat were down on the stage. Not sure if the backing girls were up on the exhaust of the bike or something, it's a bit sketchy now coz it was around 1984 I think but it was amazing. Meat even had the engine of the bike double up as a small fridge for his cold drinks ;)
I remember I bought a Suzuki jacket from the merchandise store - bright yellow it was with a blue & white stripe down the sleeve. It had Meat Loaf & The Neverland Express across the back, I wore it everywhere. What memories ;)
Since then though, every tour just seems to get bigger & bigger & better.

I was at that show too! Very front row! In fact, I was the third one to arrive at the stage when they opened the gates and Harvey Goldsmith was saying on the PA for everyone to not run, and just walk carefully into the park - like that was gonna happen with 100,000 trying to get near the front
Of course in those days I could actually run lol :p
I'm a big fan of The Who, and the fact that a ticket for that whole amazing lineup was only £8.50 is startling in this day of astronimical pricing
That show is definitely in my top five  I've seen so many artists live, it's seriously an addiction I have
My fav has to be my first Meat Loaf show. It was at Wembley Arena, on the 14th May 1999.
It was AMAZING :))

Gotta be RAH. Many gigs before it, but for atmosphere, set list, his voice, etc etc, it was amazing. And I'll never forget that version of Objects as long as I live. Being close enough to touch him was an amazing experience too!

My thoughts exactly. Indeed the atmosphere was out of this world at RAH. Such a shame it was not recorded for live cd I think.
Nottingham on Wednesday was awesome too though imo. I really felt that RAH magic there as well if I'm honest.

As i said in a previous post RAH has to be my favourite..that does take some beating...but for me any Meat concert is the best...
Second to that went to see IL Divo last year at Wembley ,not really my choice but was dragged along by my sister in law as someone let her down, must say though live they were pretty awesome...

I've only ever been to two Meat Loaf gigs and that's twice as many as some on here. I'm reluctant to put either of those down as 'the greatest' as neither of them was 'that great' although they were good. I think the thread has the potential to go into a oneupmanship competition for those who's been to dozens of show.

Mark Alexander wasn't with Meat on this tour, Paul Jacobs played piano on this tour with someone else on keys. The drummer at the time was Andy Wells
My dad went to the Sheffield show on this tour.
The live show that was released on video was recorded at Brixton Academy in London, think it was a fan club show?

Fave shows was Sheffield City Hall 17th March 1988, I was 12 years old. It was amazing, The band were superb and Meat was at his peak.
The show last almost 3 hours, set list was as follows:
Out of the frying pan
Masculine
You took the words
Come in the night
Original Sin Intro
Bad For Good
Peel Out instrumental
Im Gonna Love Her for Both of Us
Dance In My Pants
Modern Girl
Lost Boys and Golden Girls
Bat Out Of Hell
Paradise By The Dashboard Light
Midnight At The Lost and Found
Deadringer for Love
Rock N' Roll medley.
Meat arrived on stage in a straight jacket, dressed as Captain Hook and did loads of theatrics - it doesn't get much better than that!
