Well, I've done the Grimselpass in Switzerland, but on fewer wheels  ...

I'd love to have seen the face on the biker getting passed by this guy right at the end

Oh my days! That would scare the cr*p outta me! Being the man in the vid or any of the other motorists for that matter...in fact if he passed me on the road I'd be looking suspiciously at whatever medication I had just taken!!

Can anyone else see what the problem is with this?

A couple of seconds of misdirection at the wrong time and you've got a nice family sized can of people pate there

Asshole.

 To quote Stephen King in "The Body".....

"If you go out alone you’re a hero. Take somebody else with you and you’re dogpiss".

If he wants to kill himself, all power to him, but it's much more likely some poor sap is going to think what was that, look over their shoulder, and end up getting down the mountain a lot faster than originally planned

That driver might not be French.
It might be you, with your wife in the passenger seat and the kids in the back.

Great stunt, very impressive, but they should have got the road blocked off to do something that reckless.

Kinda tricky 'cos I have no kids, and the car I drove that pass in doesn't have back seats either :D

 Yes.

Or of course polluting the world with car exhausts causing melting ice caps and more harmful sun rays causing skin cancer.

I only get to poison people in the immediate vicinity (and if i'm outside i've got no chance) whereas an over enthusiastic autoist gets to poison the whole fricking world in one go

How about we just split the difference and say that that's off topic?

There's no real credible evidence that car exhausts alone cause global warming.

Since methane is one of the main culprits of greenhouse gas emmisions, livestock (cows, sheep, pigs, horses etc) are responsible for around 18% of emmissions and all transportation around 13.5% (that's a scientific fact) then we should kill all cows to stop them farting rather than take cars of the roads. And since humans breathe and fart more than cows and live longer, humans contribution is even higher than a cows.

So to blame car exhausts emissions on global warming that causes skin cancer is ridiculous. What causes skin cancer is idiots who stay out in the sun too long and don't wear enough protection. This isn't a recent phenomenon that only started since the invention of the motorcar but something that's been going on since the dawn of time.

I could prattle on about the electromagnetic field and how that's changing, which inturn is affecting climate change reducing our protection against harmful suns rays, but I won't.

Yes cars stink and might be bad for the environment but so is a quarter pounder from McDonalds and I haven't heard anyone say a McDonalds causes skin cancer.

I heard that too but I don't remember what it's about...

I actually drive one...49.5 miles per gallon...yeah, I am polluting...but I hope a bit less than those huge big ass SUV's that take about 1 mile per gallon...

There's not much difference in manufacturing a hybrid (Prius) than there is any other car. The batteries used are very un-green and difficult to recycle. That aside, how is the electricity made to recharge the batteries? from un-green sources, unless you live in France of course.

So although we might feel good about ourselves for driving a hybrid car, we're giving ourselves a false sense of do-gooding because the environment isn't really that better off.

To be honest with you...not much choice here...Unless you live in NYC and/or going there...there is virtually no public transportation...you need a car even to take your sick child to a doctor...no choice to speak of...didn't win lottery yet so gotta drive to and from work...

Whether I feel good or bad about it is kind of a moot point...I still know my car pollutes a whole lot less than those monster SUV's...plus getting about 500 miles out of something like 9 gallon tank ain't so bad either with today gas prices...so...c'est la vie...

Going back on topic of this thread...it's much more dangerous to drive on NJ highway than drive in the vicinity of this guy...

daveake

The batteries used are very un-green and difficult to recycle.

Indeed. The plant where they smelt the nickel for the batteries doubles up as a very good source of acid rain for the locale. After that process, the nickel is shipped to from the factory in Canada to another in Wales where it's treated before being shipped to China for more treatment and then to Japan where the batteries are made.

Why don't you tell Pud and Daveake what YOU are driving...then maybe they will victimize YOU instead of me...(yeah, right, like that's gonna happen...lend me your banning button for one day??? Hour??? Moment???)

By the way...how long it takes you to get to work with those two miles between your house and work...LOL...I am sure you need REAL sports car to make it under an hour or so...gee...

No one's victimizing you, have you been on the Vodka again? :hic: I'm saying Prius's aren't as green as people think they are.

BTW: I drive a Toyota Rav-4 and a Toyota Emina.

My sense of humor just ain't what it used to be...I should start sticking on more emoticons...of course, nobody is victimizing me... Well, besides Andy and R., of course, who are making fun of my poor Prius forever...

Vodka here sucks...I pine for real Russian vodka...no smell and no hangover...

I'll go blind before I post your instead of you're...yet another joke gone flat...

Must be hard to drive 2 cars at a time...I can hardly manage one...*runs and hides*

Sentences above were jokes...now...is it a new Rav4 or an old one? I don't know about NZ but here they've changed the design radically because the car was so unstable...I don't think we have Toyota Emina here...looked it up in google and it looks to be a mini-van...since the advent of SUVs we have very few mini-vans now on the roads...
