 ok I'm a tad worried  I have been requesting CHSIB on my local radio station since release. They have just played it as part of their weeks review of the album charts and they are placing it at No. 11    As they link up to HMV for their charts I dunno if its sales related or what and they aint answering the phone
Does anyone have any info or news on what we can expect this week :??: :??:
Sin - that is a tad worrying 8O
I was in HMV today and CHSIB was at #2 in the album charts, so i don't know what's going on.... :?

Whilst record stores make offers encouraging people to buy other albums this will happen.
Gawd this is so terrible, i mean its a ~~~~ing disgrace, that means the shite busted are ahead of Meat. People will start saying this is another "Blind Before i Stop" which we know it isn't, it is far superior to any CD today in every way. This really enrages  :x me when the public refuse to appreciate good music.
i reckon this must have a lot to do with HMV as they are probably the main contributors to the charts.
It really sucks that one large company can affect things this much :(
What else is there to say???

So what is everybody doing?
What success have we had?
What works best?
What else can we do?
Are there message boards, offices etc where there is no information?
Is anyone driving a car without something to alert people to the new album?
Are there any letters page in local papers that haven't had letters?
What's happeing?
This really enrages  :x me when the public refuse to appreciate good music.
Well, even after they played CHSIB on the chart show, I continued to listen to what was ranked above it, just out of curiousity. What a bunch of unrememberable pop pablum! If that's what the public wants to buy, that's what they will get. If they get sucked in by slick marketing, they are the ones that will own a CD that is insipid and will be forgotten in the very near future. :P
While 12th isn't great and I wish it was higher, keep in mind Meat has never been what you would call mainstream. The British public has given him great support over the years, probably better per capita than the larger and more diverse American public. I think 4th the first week and 12th the second isn't actually bad considering half the people buying CD's can't remember back 7 years when Meat last released an album. And he's had stiff competition w/ other new releases. He ain't no Madonna or Justin Timberlake (thank God).
I love the fact it entered the charts there as the #1 Rock album. And if you scroll down, you see at #18 (up from 22) is BOOH, after over 25 years. That says a lot more to me about whether this album (and Meat) is accepted and respected, than the pop chart which is currently topped by Timberlake. :!:
Rock 'n Roll will never die, but the public's taste can sure turn to sheet.
End of rant,
T

"CHSIB" is this week's #13 in the UK official album chart.
:bunny: :bunny: :bunny: :bunny: :bunny: :bunny:
The album is down 3 places to #16 in the charts this week so it must still be selling quite a few copies (which, IMHO, is good considering there's little promotion for it in UK at the moment).
In the rock singles chart CHSIB is down 4 places from #7 to #11 (which just goes to prove that there are an awful lot of singles currently in the charts that are not rock music!)

Hey, Bart! You know, I've been thinking the same thing!!
I've been wondering if that's why Meat scheduled the UK concerts in the middle of the first US leg of the World tour--to come out with the second single from CHSIB. OR the rerelease of CHSIB, the single, if he's still planning on doing that.
What does everyone think about this? Would the timing be good--early July?? Or does he need something sooner than that?
Meat has already talked about releasing Did I Say That? as the second single. I was just curious how everyone thinks it will do in the UK, for instance--compared with the title cut from the album?
Bart, I can't remember: Has DIST been released in your country already or just CHSIB?? If it has, how did it do? And if it hasn't, how do you think it WILL do in Holland?

The chart is 15 not 16, An answer to all those who talk about reviews,
CHSIB the album has recieved the best reviews of any album I've ever made. The Reviewers talk about the other Bats, and compare the new album to them but their reviews of the Bats were worse. They didn't like Them. Got alot of reviews with 4 stars which a Bat record never Got, to compare Albums, Why? Any way you can't!! You can say you like one more than another that's fine but you can't compare, it is impossible. you can compare 2 apples but you can't compare an apple to a bus!!
Just try an enjoy!!
If you are a Meat Loaf Fan you Like all the Records, yes it's true ,some more than others. That's what makes the world go round.
CHSIB is a GREAT GREAT record. And so is Bat!!!!

Hi, FireBall! Lovely, as always, to hear from you! Thanks for the great response!
I can't speak about apples, but I think most of us fans out here will ALWAYS have that amazing image in our heads of you and the band on top of that BUS on Oxford Street!!!
Relax and enjoy the CD?? You bet! That's what most of us are doing each and every day!
But you know, with this being the first new album in quite a while, plus still being 'pumped' up from all those 'energizing' promotions you've just completed, it's easy for emotions to ride high, you know?! When people come along and start to put the CD or you down--for whatever reason--it doesn't take much these days to get any of us going!! We all want and hope for the best for you!
But I know that nothing makes us happier than to hear YOU are pleased with the album and with the reaction you have been receiving to it!! It does our hearts good to hear this from you!!
Thanks, Meat! Hope the rehearsals are going well for you!
Sending our love to everyone there!!
And some especially BIG hugs to you, mister!! :D

Kudos to Fire Ball on all the great reviews.
Of course the bad ones in the past didn't seem to hurt. Especially like the story about he was helped by being called the worst in the history of Rock & Roll, too funny.
I just wish reviewers would actually sit and listen to a an album with a clear, objective mind. Hard to do granted, but all the comparsions made reveal that is not what they even attempt. Judge and enjoy, or dislike, something for what it is, at least that's what I do.
I listened, I judged, I LIKE!

Not sure whether you mean fan reviews here or published critic reviews. As far as we are concerned I agree. As I've already said I can't see why people feel the need to compare. Meat's albums are not a series of Die Hard movies after all .. so it's like trying to compare Die Hard and Sixth Sense. Bruce Willis is in both, but they are different pieces of work; you may prefer a film or preformance but they don't bear comparison.
If you mean published "professional" reviews, those I've seen, whilst generally referring to and referencing BOOH (which I guess is inevitable), have been bloody good, and I'm glad we lobbied for them :) Easy for reviewers to talk about BOOH now as some kind of epiphany! In hindsight how could they not? But at the time of its release I seem to recall there was much use of "overblown" and "over long" etc .. Meat took it on the road and built a success with audiences. This time a lot of good things have been said, and few reviewers have suggested anything but anticipated success.
Interesting though that again Meat has had to again make it so himself, and has done so. without the publicity machine that surrounds and boosts today's young "pop idols". In fact it's done remarkably well and much better than the latter would do without that support.
Oops .. ~~~~~~ed up the quote box there didn't I?.. :))))

I have to say out of all the meat albums, i think this is the one hardest to chose a single from. Some songs on WTTN for example sat out as being single releases but on CHSIB there is sooo many. Presuming 3 will be released as singles i think it'll be a very hard choice to find another 2 out of:
DIST, WITE, Love You Out Loud (Which Magazine critics seem to love) Man of Steel, Testify and Because of You.
Personally, after a lot of consideration, id go for DIST and Testify - i feel if meat gets testify released it'll draw a lot of attention to him as it'll appeal to EVERYONE!
OH AND THEN THERE'S DO IT! THATS IF NIKE GET A HOLD OF IT!
The chart is 15 not 16,

According to the "Official UK Top 40 Albums chart" at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/top40/albums.shtml on Sunday (when I posted my message) CHSIB is 16, not 15.

I've seen it reported in an article that the album has sold 300,000 in the UK .. so I would have thought 400,000 worldwide would have been a certainty .. but not sure on what sales the awards are based on .. for eg the UK (BPI) award:
Silver (200,000 sales)
Gold (400,000 sales)
Platignum (600,000 sales)
Double Platignum (1.2 million)
Whilst the US (RIAA) require 500,000 for Gold single or album and 1 mill for Platinum (US style and spelling :) )
If the UK awards are based on UK sales then it has gone Silver, but not Gold if the 400,000 is worldwide sales, and it will need to sell half a million to get a US Gold .. and whether that's based on US or worldwide sales I don't know.
Anybody help out?

For some reason, the fact that it's one above Madonna thrills the heck out of me! She is from the same hometown as my Dad, and in Truth or Dare she actually rolls around on the ground at the cemetary where my great grandparents (and her mum, as well) are buried. I've always been a bit distressed by that scene! Moving up two places is certainly a good thing- maintain that momentum for two weeks and boom, back in the top 10!

I think meat is quit happy with 500,000 copies, depsite of the albumcharts.
I have noticed this week that MVC and Amazon are selling the album at a reduced price now. Hope this may encourage non-Meat fans to give it a try. Wishful thinking?
Hopefully a LOT will sell at Plymouth and Party in the Park .. and when they take it home they'll tell others who weren't lucky enough to be at the concerts ..
Perhaps this is when the promised PR campaign from Mercury will kick in? Some nice gas-filled balloons in bright colours with Meat booting someone up the bum? :))

Album took a fall this week although still in the Top 40 Rock Albums. Good news is that it's on the way up on Tesco's top sellers list . But when you look at the 14/15 million Bat 2 sold, the fans are still there but why aren't the cds being sold - i think the copying of cds will affect the sales of any artist and the figures will never reach that again, but hopefully the american market will bring it up into the millions.

What you say is quite true, Chris. The release of CHSIB has been different, too, with it being a 'staggered' release--a few countries and then a few more, so that Meat could do promotion as it came out ...Still a number of countries are yet to come, including, as you say, the US, plus Canada and the rest of the Americas, Australia, NZ, Japan, a few more in Europe...
I wouldn't think there would be a problem getting it into the millions by the time it's out around the world. It may not come up to the 14/15 million you quote, but I would imagine it would be quite respectable for the times, depending, as always, on the effectiveness of the Record Companies' promotions country-by-country (don't have to question Meat's effectiveness in his promotions--he ALWAYS is!! 8) ).
Here in the US, though, we Meaty fans are going to give it a good shot--no matter what the Label does!! We're ready and raring to go!! :D

It looks like CHSIB has dropped way down the official album charts this week as even in the official Rock Album charts it dropped from 15 to #39.

In the official charts that were announced on Sunday, the single CHSIB is a re-entry at #36 in the Rock Singles Charts and the album is up from #39 to #34 in the Rock Album Charts. BOOH is up from #32 to #29.
I would guess that this is mainly due to the Patrick Kielty Show but please remember that this is only the ROCK charts. None of these are anywhere near the proper Top 40.

Not so far away Sue! After Meat's appearances at the PITP and on TV "CHSIB" has moved back up to #42 on this week's official album chart. 8)
Are you sure?
Somone posted to another list that they reckoned that it was #41 in the proper charts but as it's only #14 in the Official Rock Album Chart at BBC.co.uk (which is THE official charts) and not all the top 13 on that list are listed within the Top 40 Album Charts so how can it be as high as #41 or #42?
In order for it to be #42 (i.e. just outside the 40 that are listed on the
site) all the 13 above it have to be listed in the Top 40 and they're not.

Thank you, Sue. All news is appriciated. Am very sorry about this though.
Great day to you,
Mariella
Speaking as one whose glass is half full, I'd say it was good that the new album is still in the top 30, and that 25 years on BOOH is still there. Few artists can boast this success :)
