Hey Everybody,
Sorry for the long absence. We've been traveling like crazy this summer. A LOT has happened. Whew!
So, I have to go back and look in my calender so that I can remember it all.
In August we traveled to Dallas for Ozzfest and the Dimebag tribute. From there we came home for a couple days of meetings regarding the new album, and the record deal, personal training sessions, a little wining and dining, of course, a chipped front tooth (fixed now, but for a day I looked like Alfalfa from "The Little Rascals". Good as new now, my dentist is a real Michelangelo), and then we flew to London.
We spent a week in London, glorious! We had great weather. Scott hosted the Kerrang awards and he ~~~~ing killed. It was a great night. We had a blast with a room filled with friends to tear shit up with; Metallica, Machine Head, Slipknot, Rage Against the Machine, Cristina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil... We hit Nobu after the awards, with the Metallica guys, and the Slipknot guys and all their wives and girlfriends, and beyond that, needless to say, we were up to see the sun. Oh, my head. Uggh. I can still taste the champagne. We were flooded. A couple days later we rode out to the Reading Festival with Kirk Hammett and a couple of our friends where Scott introduced Tenacious D (who opened for the headlining Metallica). The D were priceless, and awesome. The sight and sound of 80,000 people all swaying, and rippling like waves in an ocean, and singing along at the top of their voices is quite amazing. Metallica then owned the land, of course. So massive, so heavy. Thank you guys for hosting us the whole day. You make us feel like family.
Scott and I also spent an afternoon exploring Hyde Park again one day. Full sun, light breeze, beautiful. There were celebrations in the park to celebrate the closing of the Beijing Olympics and the anticipation of the next Olympic games that will be held in London.
After a long flight home, we spent one day at home, just enough to unpack, do laundry, and re-pack again so that we could leave early the next morning for Vegas and a meeting with a head honcho regarding my new album. I'll disclose the details to you when we know where it's all going. I'm not one for jinxing. After the meeting that night we joined some friends for dinner at Simon at Palms Place, where Kerry Simon himself, (chef/entrepreneur extraordinaire, and a lovely guy and gracious host at that), joined us as well. Great friends, great food, great night.
We returned home on that Friday, after a successful meeting, and on Saturday morning I flew to Mykonos with my oldest friend Chudney for four days of heaven. Chudney's mom went over to play at a private event, and I was invited to tag along. Chud, her little bro Evan, his friend Ryan and I tore up the gorgeous town every night, and soaked up the sun everyday. Man, I have to say that Mykonos is such an incredible place. So, so beautiful, and the people are wonderful, the water is pure and clear, and the food is amazing. I had a blast.
I got back from Mykonos on the 4th of September, and on the 5th my Dad and I taped an episode of "Don't Forget the Lyrics" with Wayne Brady at CBS Television City in LA. We're not sure of the air date yet, but as soon as we know, I'll let you guys know. you MUST watch if you get it where you live. I can't say too much about it, because I'm contractually obligated not to, but I will say that that we did kick some ass. That's a fun game! I wasn't sure of all the rules, there are a lot, but I think we really kicked it out. When it was over I wanted to keep going. They should have a home dvd version.
I've been home for a few days now. Scott's been in Chicago writing the new Anthrax album with the boys. I can't wait to hear it. ~~~~ing Anthrax, Baby!!! Right now, I'm taking a little time to reconnect with you all, listening to Howard Stern on my Sirius radio, and feeling a bit exhausted from the bullshit that was the VMA's (MTV's Video Music Awards) last night. I had my girls over last night for some tomato salad, Veuve, and the awards. We expected a whole bunch of jive, but holy shit, what a bummer. The only saving grace for me was Pink who truly kicks ass. The girl can wail and she's got a real rock 'n' roll soul. Paramore surprised me. That girl is great live, real, raw, a true entertainer. I'm a new fan.
So anyway, I'm done writing now. Blogging kind of creeps me out. I've always been super private, but my manager tells me it's "what you do now", and I can't tell you how important it is to me that you all check in, and write to me, and praise me, and share your photos....Man, it means the world, and I just want to stay in touch. So forgive me for my occasional blogs which I know are few and far between. I promise to check in more often. Oh, and the Ozzfest banner on my profile will be replaced very soon. It's been almost a month, I know, since then but I've had trouble getting the web master to change it. It should be up later today, or tomorrow. If you guys have any questions, anything you want to know, please write to me. I will post your questions here in my blog and answer them the best that I can. That will prompt me to write more, for sure.
Ok, Guys. That's it for now. Hold tight. This is the calm before the storm. We're plotting, and planning, and brewing right now, working on a tour, a record release party, appearances, radio, and so much more. Get ready, 'cuz I was born ready.
Cheers, love, rock, always,
Pearl
