it's always a pleasant relief, yet somewhat alarming, to know there are people in the world more stupid than me.

I was thinking the same thing Helen (( about myself, not you..lol)) i am always doing things without thinking first and the person with the bike has obviously done the same...lol
Honestly speaking...my first thought was...I could have done it...more out of being space cadet rather than stupid...although I won't really deny stupidity gene...

Reminds me of something that happened about 10 years ago!
Around the time VBO came out I was listening to the radio. It was a commercial station doing one of those 'answer 10 questions in a minute' type of quizzes. The question was: "Which artist has recently released their new album, The Very Best Of Meat Loaf?" The answer given by a dotty old bat: "Rod Stewart!"

Which in turn reminds me of this famous radio clip ... Billy Butler's Potatoes (http://www.boreme.com/boreme/funny-2005/potatoes-p1.php)

p.s. The above clip is not meant to be representative of the entire scouse population ;-)

haaa! that proper cracks me up!
and reminds me somewhat of a quiz in 3rd year high school (age 13/14) in music class, in which my other team members argued with me over the question "who wrote handel's messiah?"* (I'm pleased to say I stood my ground and we got the answer correct. I am horrified to say, we were the only team with the correct answer!)
*a minority of you may be aware of an old quiz show, with the same question and similar outcome - but that didn't help my team members!!
