I was wondering why on the CD,they included all the stories but cut out the audience participation of TTW,the ending of Paradise where Meat does his classic "2 little words" and also the end of AFL where Patti and him joke about why does she always tells him sooner or later you will be screwing around?
They also left out RRDCT which I thought was an awesome version.
Was any official reason given because I know alot of people were disappointed and thought that the CD would have the same contents as the DVD?

Thanks :D

i think that's simply down to the different expectations people have in a live CD or a live DVD.
The same has been done to the MSO versions.

If you buy a DVD youre rather interested in getting a picture of the whole show, while things like audience participations or jokes between the band members might just be confusing for people who listen to a CD as they dont know what's going on.

In one short sentence:
If you buy a CD, you wanna hear the music.

I'd imagine the end of Paradise was cut so the CD was free of swearing.

Let me go through this for you:

1. All Revved Up - Cuts the "So were gonna go right into the song, so everyone close youre eyes if you know the words sing them up until this part. Now where gonna start". Goes right into "Are you ready? LETS DO IT!"

2. Lemon - Not on the DVD and wasn't performed at the show to all acounts. It could've been a sound check or a cut performance from Hard Rock live for all I know.

3. Took the Words - DVD version edited slightly. Cuts Meat's talk to the audience to sing and just cuts to where the audience is singing for a minute or so.

4. AFL - Not the DVD version. Sounds alot like the Hard Rock Live version, but Hard Rock's version has different instrumentation and a wee bit different overall. Dunno the real source

5. Lawyers, Guns, & Money - Like Lemon, Not on the DVD and wasn't performed at the show to all acounts. It could've been a sound check or a cut performance from Hard Rock live for all I know.

6. More Than You Deserve - Cuts the whole rabbit letter piece but keeps in everything else
.
7. Heaven Can Wait - Particularly different. The piano intro is cut severally for the CD and Meat sounds a bit different in this then the DVD.

8. Two Out Of Three - TOTALLY DIFFERENT on the CD. It has the same instrumentation as Storytellers. Some say its from Hard Rock live but now recording of this from that show exists. I cants stand the "IT aint bad" part. The DVD version keeps "Aint Bad' and Meat doesn't say "IT".

9. Paradise - Cuts basically all the expected stuff. Sadly it also cuts the "Well be right back after these commercial announcements" part.

10. Bat Out Of Hell - Wasn't cut at all. DVD version.

11. Rock & Roll Dreams Come Through - Removes Meat's blabbering at the beginning but keeps everything else. Slightly edited Ending. (Promo Release Only)

12. Is Nothing Sacred - Single Version

That help?

I am always fascinated by people who pull everything apart to a degree that nothing is left...get both CD and DVD and enjoy both...CD in the car and DVD at home...to me something gets lost in traslation when you pull things apart and overanalyze them...

Well, I have my own system of organization:

1. Records - what I am listening to all the time, what I am listening to sometime and what I am not listening at all anymore.
2. Books - what I've read and what I didn't...

At any decent concert I get into a state of rapture and afterwards wouldn't even be able to tell you what the heck anybody was singing...so...I may never be able to give an impartial review or anything like that...but at least I enjoy good concert to the fullest...

I feel better Zina..cos if a concert works for me, i'm on another planet too....but i've always been embarrassed that i can't give a sensible description of it afterwards. If i'm really into a performance it seems to bypass the record keeping bit of my brain and just sends the emotional bit into orbit.
But it's hard convincing people who didn't go just how good it was afterwards!:?

I don't care what people think...if I start writing down what was sung and how...which I honestly tried one time...I miss the entire thing...I'd rather enjoy...

No necessarily, the Live Around The World version of Paradise has the swearing in it.

I'm the same, I just enjoy listening to the CD or DVD, though I've only played the Storytellers CD a couple of times, I mainly play the DVD.

Sorry if I offended anyone since I have both the DVD and CD but was just curious to why so many parts were cut of the CD release :D

What puzzles me is why they bothered with the CD at all? Why not just release the whole of Hard Rock Live on CD instead, thus forcing people to buy both!

whos owning the rights for Storytellers? Is it VH1 or Meat's record company (at that time)?

I think it's mostly because it's the easiest way to make sure people buy both products.
If the CD was the soundtrack of the DVD to the letter, a lot of people wouldn't bother buying the CD (or could even copy the soundtrack and make their own CD).
By cutting a couple of songs from the CD and cutting a different couple from the DVD, you get to have two different products from a limited ammout of material.

I do the same thing, but then again, I've got around 450 of them, so if I ever want to find anything, I have to.... What IS sad tho', is that I've got them categorised and then alphabetised.... *hangs head in shame*
