A Meat Loaf Christmas album could work out very well, particularly if he stuck to the classics. Were it to ever happen, what would you like the tracklist to be?

Welcome to the site Nathan :)).

Personally I don't see this happening but then that might be just me, though if you go to ROL there is a clip of him when he appeared on The Wright Stuff I think and he sang Chesnuts Roasting On An Open Fire (or something to that effect ), I think it was and it's interesting .

Ditto !!
I am also sensing a Deja Vué also Zina....

Agreed   !!

That is very debatable... I personally wouldn't want Meat to sing this as it would be a little degrading, again this is a personal opinion .

well, he did that christmas concert for some childrens hospital in 1995. So it's not entirely impossible. Gotta say though those songs combined with his style werent really my cup of tea :?
but with his recording speed, he'd have to start making a christmas album in february...and who would want that?

Hopefully he won't read this thread. He could feel challenged and indeed record a Christmas album. :yikes::lawl:

in that case, please no frosty the snowman ;)

anyway, not being harsh but who would buy it? die hard meat fans who have every last thing meat recorded, even if they already have it but with a blue cover? joe public wouldn't. i'd want to hear it for curiosity's sake but unless these were some new fab xmas songs, i'm sure i have several thousand versions of each of them. it's an interesting preposition. can't quite picture meat singing any cheesey sleighbells-accompanied songs though. and by the end of december, I hate the vast majority of christmas songs thanks to radio/shop overplay. I would hate to have meat's songs ruined in the same vain!

thinking about this...i can't get my imagination to work well enough to imagine meat singing any well known christmas songs...

I've heard him singing White Christmas, Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer and the Chestnuts on an Open Fire too. I really liked his versions and if he did record an album I'd buy it, but like most of you say don't think it's likely.

It wouldn't be too bad if Meat recorded a son gfor a charity CD you find at drug stores and CVS, though.

If any of you have bought "A Very Special Christmas", Springsteen did a kickass Santa is com'n to town and to my knowledge he didn't do a full blown XMas album. MEat could mabey do the same in the years to come :D

Oh Meat'd do a fine version of "Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron"

A song to contribute to a charity album? Great

A full album i don't think would work, I know Celine Dion did something like that and it pretty much stunk, but then i'm not exactly a fan of hers so I may be slightly bias

I know the song but it's neither a christmas song, nor does it have anything to od with Snoopy and most of all I have no idea what you were smoking when you thought it'd be a good idea for Meat to do this lol

Yeah I like that Bruce Springsteen version of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, they play it on the radio here all the time at Christmas time.

And he does a wonderful Silent Night too :)

It's something I'd love as he has such a great voice for ballads .. I'd love to hear him sing Holy Night for eg .. but I agree it's not very likely to happen, any more than his doing an album for the Gershwin estate, which I'd also adore ..

But imo he could do a marvellous album of a mix of ballads and kick-ass rocking Christmas songs :)

I agree Caryl, he sings the ballads beautifully so it would be a good mixture if he did them and some rocking Christmas songs as well.

I just saw the list of the new best Christmas albums in America...trust me...you really don't want Meat on THAT list...

Nathan_Co

If a whole album wasn't possible, what would you say to Meat writing and recording his very own Christmas song and possibly releasing it as a single? It would be new ground for him to tread as none of his songs have an explicit Christmas theme.

Thanks for the welcome MeatGrl1. I did want to make an introductory thread but I had no idea where it would be most appropriate to post it.

I personally think Christmas songs ground is a pretty slippery ground...people do it for the most part to finish their obligation on the contract, get out and go with a new company...that is if they already done Greatest Hits album and still have one more to go...

In any event, welcome, Nathan, and there is somewhere around here in off topic thread to introduce yourself...
