check Ebay once in a while, there is someone selling self-made DVD copies of the film. apparently this is legal, though I'm not too sure about this. :?

 So I can record any old vid onto DVD, or any cassette tape onto CD, and sell them on e bay at a profit, and it's all perfectly legal? :rly:
I have my doubts about that :wtf:

Wasn't the movie made by or on behalf of VH1? As far as I know Viacom is very strict when it comes to their copyright.

I contacted the seller when he put it up (about a year ago) but I only vaguely remember what he said. It would belong to the public domain as it's several years old and never has been released on the particular format (DVD).
or something like that

 So your happy to question Meat about anything he says, but your willing to belive some guy selling dodgy gear on e bay who tells you that copying media and flogging it is completely legit? :lmao:
Theoretically speaking of course *cough cough :bleh: *
Yes, the people selling these products are making money off them, but that are making them available, and if it's a choice between not having an out of print movie on DVD and not owning it at all, I know what my answer would be.
But there is no way under heaven and hell that this is legal.
Screw public domain, movies are copy protected.
And even though the people who own the copyright often don't give a fiddlers fart about what they own, they soon start caring when someone tries to make a few quid :yep:

Isn't copyright valid for several decades before it can expire?

I didnt say I believe it, I just passed on what I've been told
If I had believed it I wouldnt have said:

I believe every DVD as well as VHS tape starts with Federal Law prohibits blah blah blah blah...
Just because its illegal doesn't mean its enforced
Just because its illegal doesn't mean its enforced
Still illegal though...person on e-bay tried to explain that it is...that's the point...

So, basically, you take something you can find on the internet for free, and sell it to some sucker who's dumb enough to pay for it? Yeah, way to go.[/snarky-sarcasm-mode]
