I found this on eBay and it says it is performances spanning his career and I am wondering is this a variety of clips over the years from appearances and or concerts or is it a already released concert with a misleading title and cover?
Any help would be really appreciated before I bid because if it is a previously released concert, then I won't bother.

Thanks so much!

It's a strange compilation of clips from Hits Out Of Hell and Live With The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. No need to buy that DVD.

Yeah, definitely don't bother, I was conned by that as well. At least they could have included other clips from WTTN or CHSIB and other recent stuff that I didn't have. I remember I got so excited when I saw it, I absolutely love that picture of Meat and knew I definitely didn't have it, but it turns out I did!!!!!!!

Thanks so much for all the responses and for saving me money!
They actually used videos from Hits from Hell and mixed them in with live footage from the LWTMSO DVD?
It is obviously a unofficial release then and I hope Meat and his people put a stop to such confusing releases where fans think they are getting something rare and new and are totally mislead

well, it might look like a rip off to you, but only cause youre die hard fans.
Someone new to the Loaf and his music might enjoy the oportunity to watch old and new clips, and that for a reasonalbe price. I'd see it more as a teaser to Meat Loaf DVD's than a proper release.

I bought a similar DVD of Johnny Cash clips from the same company for 8€ a while ago. The quality is crap, and the main menu says "Jhonny Cash", but I still got a variation of clips which I didnt know before, without paying a lot of money for various releases.

That is a rip off and it isnt legit...ebay have suspended peoples accounts for selling this.

is it as much a rip off as downloading songs illegally from the the internet? noone complains about that.

It might give you a good overview of the artist's oeuvre and the footage that is available, that's true but I think it pays off to spend a few Euros more and get the originals.

I can't imagine that the respective artists or their record companies authorize such compilations of material they have already released themselves. By the way, if I appreciate an artist's work I have no issues with paying for it and I'd like the artist to get his / her share.

Really? Well, the music industry does - and their complaints can become very expensive.

When I bought it I was very new to ebay, I think it was the 2nd or 3rd thing I bought off there, and because I'd read that they don't sell bootlegs or unauthorised things, I naively thought that it was legit. But I think it is too hard to police as there is so much stuff being sold on there, it's hard to keep tabs on every single thing that isn't authorised by the Record Company or the Artist. But I'm the same, I'd rather pay more and buy something that I know the money is going to the Artist.

I see it from this point of view: The DVD only costs a few bucks, so it isnt making anyone poor. But if people buy it, and like it, they most likely want to see the rest of the footage and buy HooH and MSO as well. And if they dont like it, they would probably have never spent 20€/$/whatever for a whole concert DVD, yet this way they get a glimpse of Meat Loaf's music and can decide themselves.
Like I said: a teaser.

well, the fans dont ;) yet they do with this one...:?

you are comparing two completely different things...file sharing if thats what you're refferring to is illegal but it doesnt take money from naive fans who dont know its not an official release, this has been compiled with the sole intention to take money from fans by dressing it up as a new item. Fans who download, do so knowing the reprocussions and what they are getting. This dvd has been renamed more times than i've had hot dinners from best of..to ML Live...to collections etc the only giveaway preventing yet another naive buy being that the cover is always the same.
So on this basis i very very respectfully suggest that the link to downloads is a ludicrous argument. When i bought it, it was listed as Meat's live european tour which it is clearly not, and the the day after all the listings finished that sellers acc had closed and another one selling the same stuff sprung up a week later. So i seriously question your judgement if you think thats ok.

I understand your point, yet I disagree. You could justify any commercial bootleg this way.

How would you like it if someone took something that belongs to you in order to sell it? Without your consent? My own copyright was violated once and it really pissed me off. Even if those DVDs don't cost much money - do you think it's alright to support companies that put the names of well-known artists on such DVDs?

I'm a fan and I don't approve of downloading songs illegally. If I like something that is officially available, I'll buy it. This might appear stupid or old-fashioned to you - I think it's a matter of fairness. How would you like not being paid for the job you do?

you both got me wrong here, maybe I wasnt clear enough with what I was saying.

The point is: Im definitely NOT trying to justify making such compilations, I also think it's wrong. BUT I was saying that this doesnt necessarily mean it's ALL bad for everyone.
These things might get produced with a bad intention, but this doesnt have to mean the buyer cant profit from it. He can, if he sees it as a teaser. (as stated above)

It IS a copyright violation, but could also lead to futher buys from the artist, if the buyer likes what he sees on this dvd.

I understand what you mean but considering the statement you made about the price differences before I have some doubts about it. Average consumers might favor the cheap product over the "expensive" one or even mistake the low-quality product for an official release. I'm afraid that such releases cannot only make you curious - they might deter you from further purchases in case they don't meet the quality standards you expect from a certain artist.

And if they dont like it, they would probably have never spent 20€/$/whatever for a whole concert DVD

I accidentally bought a Billy Joel DVD from the same company and when I realized what it was I felt I had wasted my money. It contained concert clips I already knew (most of them were taken from the DVD Live At Yankee Stadium) of rather poor quality and it ended with a video montage that was accompanied by a song that was definitely not Billy Joel. :wtf:
I got the original Billy Joel Live At Yankee Stadium DVD for 5,99 Euros. Go figure, the official DVD was even cheaper than that annoying compilation.

the quality might be a valid point, cant comment on that as I've never had the chance to compare a cheap compilation to the original (or vice versa)
