I honestly don't know about Meat Loaf's myspace page ...
but they are working on a new official website which should, hopefully, be up and running soon.

Exactly. I think its shameful. People renew every year in hope of something better which doesnt seem to come. I think Meat really needs to bash some heads, or not listen to so called advisors and just do it himself.
There are quite a few "Meat Loaf"s on MySpace...
I am pretty sure that Michael is right and he had nothing to do with any of them...
An outdated MySpace page  - and why isn't he on Facebook, Twitter and all those other "I-just-got-out-of-bed-now-let-me-tell-you-what-I-had-for-dinner-and-how-I-feel-right-now" pages? ;)
Meat Loaf and the internet, well... I don't care about that MySpace page. I prefer a professionally created and maintained homepage instead. Unfortunately, Meat currently doesn't seem to have one. What serves as his own page has been almost dead for quite a while now and the way it has been run so far deterred me from further visits and I'll probably never join his official fanclub (sorry). A very good example of how to use the internet in order to alienate your fans instead of attracting them. :?

Yep, every Tom, Dick and Harry can represent themselves via MySpace and call themselves whatever they want. That's why a MySpace page can only be an addition, one of many parts of a good marketing concept and it has to be properly maintained, otherwise it won't be taken seriously in the long run.
I am pretty sure that Michael is right and he had nothing to do with any of them...
And when he takes action himself, he sometimes behaves like a "bull in a china shop". ;) Just consider his issues with YouTube. He seems to be more busy taking each and every unauthorized blurry clip off than trying to use that platform to his own end. Why doesn't he just start his own YouTube channel, for example?

He stated on the .net forum that he's never been on myspace it's just a promotional tool.

I doubt you will see a revamped website until the next album comes out and they will try to "promote" it that way.
I think Meat is basically private and if he had the choice I don't think he would want to have had to leave any blog updates on .net or do anything with MySpace.
I left .net because it was rubbish in terms of "exclusives". I signed up for good seats, got good seats and had no further need to use it.
It's the same reason i have signed up with Aerosmith and U2 fan clubs but I have to say they offer a lot more for the same amount of money and it's regularly updated.

is it like the old site, but with dead ringer added and a reduced price??? :D

I'm glad he doesn't feel the urge to inform the public about what he's doing in his private life. When it comes to his work, I wish there was a reliable source to get info from (e.g. whether he is really going to perform at some festival in Scandinavia or not ;)) but I've actually given up on *.net since 2007. I don't approve of the way some people / opinions were treated there. That's one of the reasons why I won't spent any money on it, even if they had really great offers for members.

Well, this bit is puzzling for me too...because a lot of artists now have their channels/pages on youtube and it appears to be serving as an advert rather than a thievery...after all, what is there to steal??? Some clips of the 70's concert that nobody ever seen before and after seeing such might get interested in the artist today???
I signed up for good seats, got good seats and had no further need to use it.
Well, then you've gotten a whole lot more than I did...my seats were crap...
I am a paid member of Duke Special fan club and for my membership fee I've already gotten more than I have ever thought possible - like 3 CD's, for example, never mind autographed picture and fanclub magazine, etc...

Meat said on his official page a while ago that he was unhappy with things and was in the process of finding and then bringing on board a new company not just to run and update the site but to provide correct moderation of the forum on there that had decended into chaos with the current moderator ( I wont mention any names ) allowing things to get way out of hand and in general making things look bad. As far as I know things are close now but it has taken a long time to happen.
As far as myspace is concerned there is an official Meat page ( http://www.myspace.com/meatloaf ) that is linked via the .net site but it is not Meat that runs it, There again this may change but the last time I heard anything the myspace site was monitored by his management company on Meat's behalf

Exactly right. In his journal, Meat posted that they signed the contract with the new company and that the new site should be up and running soon.
Maybe it's ready to go but they're waiting for Meat's final approval before it can go live :??:

I am sorry but I do have to say something...
You start a thread and pose a question...let me quote you...
"Why are Meat Loaf's websites and myspace never updated
forgive me if this has been asked and or a dumb question"
I can forgive any dumb question...but it is more difficult to forgive when somebody poses a "dumb" question just to start a pointless controversy and a debate...
Here is another quote from you in response to Vicki's post about website being updated:
"Don't hold your breath"
Why do you ask the question to which you already know the answer?

I can vouch for that! And its also a lot cheaper than a .net membership. Sure, the likes of Duke Special are not comparable with a rockstar like Meat Loaf, but it clearly shows that the people running it are doing it for the good of the fans, and not primarely for the $$$.
Btw, Zina, did you get #2 of the 'Special Edition'?
[Exactly right. In his journal, Meat posted that they signed the contract with the new company and that the new site should be up and running soon.
might be, but he's been saying the same thing for about two years now...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasnt there a similar issue with the official site, that ran before .net?
At least I remember something around the time I joined, that everybody was happy when .net launched as the former site was crap and never got updated, etc?
RJ, I did get 2nd edition...
That is not my point made yesterday...my point is that the subject of .Net has been discussed over and over and over again on this forum and it ain't getting anybody anywhere...who knows the cause of it not being what it should be? It started well enough I suppose...maybe website isn't important to Meat...maybe he has other more pressing goals and problems...
My point is that in the last few weeks RHStoned started quite a few "interesting" threads...on topics that were discussed and over-discussed...and somehow always led to controversy...but if you look at the date of joining the forum...it's 2005...which is even before I came along...if it was a new person starting these threads, it would be understandable...but for a long standing fan/member whose been here forever it is a bit strange to pose the questions which he has already seen answers to numerous times...begs quite another question...WHY?

However, my unqualified guess would be that a relaunch wouldnt be of a lot of use until the promo for the new album.

I wasn't bashing you - I expressed my opinion. And as it turned out I was right...
So you think anybody here can give an answer to the questions you've posed? They couldn't then and they can't now...

No your completely wrong and yes the questions have been answered so grow up!
So...you're entitled to express your opinion but I have to grow up to be able to do so?
I am not going to argue with you because I can see right through you...and it's not a discussion or even a debate that you want...you want to start a fight, sit back, relax and enjoy...so I am not wasting my breath on you anymore...but here are the last words of wisdom...

If anybody started any fight's it was you I only asked a question and you just blew it out of proportion I think your the one who want's to argue with everyone so like I said grow up:!::roll: And no you can't see right through me you don't even know me so:!:
I think Zina's (well made) point was why did you bother to start a thread asking about something that clearly in your own mind you already have the answer to...no arguments intended and certainly not picking a fight.
In regards to the website - official or unoffical - I just hope that whatever is eventually provided is a) worth the ridiculous membership fee that will inevitably be charged, b) good enough to represent Meat and his work, and c) even half as good as the expections that fans have for it, because the last one was none of those things. If the new site is anything like the last one then I for one can see no reason to purchase a membership - there was little news, the news that did come in was extremely out of date, the merchandise is available via fanfire.com... the only thing that appealed to me was the opportunity to purchase the M&G packages, which as it turned out were available to non-members anyway, so unless there's a radical revamp I see no reason at all to join.

I have a question. And, unlike others, is one I'd like to get an answer for: (lol)
Wasnt there a policy that no members could renew their membership anymore, since (I think) last summer? Is that still in action? And in that case, are there actually any members left, or did everyones membership just run out of date?

Memberships can't be renewed, there's not many people left there now and several of those are sharing log in details of those that can still get on. For some when the membership expires you can still get on there.
Mine's still going but will only renew to a new site if it's worth it for me as what Smoggy said is right, if there are no benefits to membership other than a somewhat iffy forum and the ticket packages and merchandise continue to be open to all then I wont bother.

My .net membership expired before the site was suspended. no one told me my mebership had expired and to renew and now I do not appear to be a member.
I hope that whatever is launched is widely advertised so that evryone who wants to join can do so and beneift from whatever is good about the new site.
If the new album brings a tour we would all want to ensure we can get the best news and the best tickets.
One of the issues for me was their "news updates"...that site was printed on albums and advertised as Meat's official site, and therefore is the place that any new fans will go to to get the latest information. Unfortunately due to the upkeep of that site there will be fans out there who either travelled to shows that they did not know were cancelled, or didn't get tickets to shows because they simply didn't know he was playing. I appreciate it's an American-run site and we have to allow for the time difference (especially back in 2007 when the UK second-leg shows were being confirmed as cancelled by the minute) but surely if you are running the official website then you make sure that info is up there as soon as is humanly possible, because that is the responsibility you accept when you take on the role - a responsibility to the fans and a responsibility to the artist.
Thankfully over the past few years I think fans have got the best tickets and the best news, but sadly not provided by .net

They'll make sure it's up by then...anything else would be promtional suicide...
Seeing how it is an American site and I was sitting with a credit card right when pre-sale started, I still don't know how I got tickets worse than I would have gotten from the Ticketmaster or similar...
Last year (in the UK anyway) the best tickets were with Ticketmaster. The only show where the "best" seats were in the M&G packages were Nottingham. I just hope that whatever we end up with represents Meat, the band and his work accordingly, .net have let him down terribly and caused a lot of stress to a lot of people!
In .net's (partial) defence they can only sell the tickets they are allocated, that allocation comes from the promoters under instruction from Meat's management company. Hopefully Meat's new management company will serve him better in this respect in the future. Apparently Meat's new management company is owned by the Chief Executive of TicketMaster, so if we dont' see an improvement in this area I'd be surprised.
As for the rest of the member services, I think the team here have provided more news via Google over the last 24 months than .net has ...
