Wow same here :-)

Belated St George's Day to you all :-)

I don't know whether this is something specific to my part of the country, but it often seemed in the past that we as a country didn't very much go into celebrating our Saint's day - in fact sometimes i'd've gone so far as to say it seemed more celebrating went into St Patrick's than St Georges (and whilst there is absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating St. Paddy's it struck me as funny St George's often passed by without much of a notice...and how come England doesn't give as much recognition to St Andrew's and St. David's days...both important...why should they be low key compared to St Patrick's in England? Aside of the drinking excuse!) ...but this year I felt it was more of a big thing. My town centre (who admittedly HAVE done a lot of work around St George's in the past, but I don't ever remember as much as this one) really seemed to big it up this year - we had live brass bands, knights handing out free silk roses and alsorts, people had flags, local businesses got involved.

Anyway, I had a good St George's day...went for a good English beer...with an Irish colleague&friend of all people (it had to be Boddingtons - Cream of Manchester, if you must know...though I doubt you care ;)) ... in return for me joining him for a drink (Guinness that time, naturally) for St Paddy's. He paid on both occasions...so even better! :-)

Do the Turkish celebrate St George's day?

despite claims by the telegraph that st george was turkish ive since read elsewhere that he wasn't. though they have a good chance of celebrating more than a lot of english people

on sunday after noon i took part in a 800 strong motorbike parade for st georges day there were flags everywhere, there were cruisers, trikes, sports bikes, the lot whats best was my bike was in for its service and my dad had my sister as his pillion, so i got to ride on the back of his mates (huge harley davidson cruiser) complete with sound system, so adding "land of hope and glory" loudly to the proceedings! :D but what made it special was the fact that so many turn out to wave and cheer us on!!! :D
