I'm guessing they're aiming for a pre Christmas release - can't wait!

I'd hate to see the album rushed like that. From the short clips we know this sounds quite interesting, I'd rather wait another 6 months than getting another rushed bat3-clone.

I couldn't disagree more when it comes to Meat's tweets. I consider any update special even though he's been consistently updating us almost daily. [...] I look forward to the end of my day to unwind and listen to what Meat had in store for the day.

I just don't think that one should feel obligated to post something on Twitter every day. Now there haven't been updates on Meat's page for about a week and people start to speculate why. What's the problem with taking a few days off from Twitter? I'm looking foward to new videos, too, but I rather want to enjoy them like a good wine than like a bag of potato chips. ;) Some things are worth waiting for and I rather like to see one video with someone like Brian May than five three-second clips of whatever.

I'd rather wait another 6 months than getting another rushed bat3-clone.

Couldn't agree more.

I enjoy any and all of Meat's tweets .. as others have said they're a lovely fillip to the day :) But he's a busy chap and it's not realistic to expect them daily, much as I loved it when he was in the studio every day and we had them.

As to the record coming out for Christmas .. No, I wouldn't want it to be rushed either, but just as important, the Christmas market is always targeted by flavour of the month artists and Christmas specials, and I wouldn't like to see the album submerged in these. Meat's said he will tour next year, and I'd expect them to carefully plan a release date for 2010 which would tie in best with that.

That's the logical, sensible approach. The promotion for the last two albums was neither logical nor sensible.

He should do what he did for BOOH2 and WTTN: do televised concerts on music channels.

Like the "History of meat loaf live" and "In the neighborhood" vh-1 specials and the "Intimate & Interactive" MuchMusic Special

Imagine if Meat and VH-1 opted for a CHSIB concert to be broadcast and decided to broadcast RAH or something? They tend to film meat on the good nights of the tour.

Or mabey another meat loaf storytellers session? i mean VH-1 seems to love meat.

Music channels? Does something like that still exist? I stopped watching MTV and other former music channels years ago because of all those stupid "reality", gossip and dating shows and annoying ringtone advertising. VH-1 Germany stopped broadcasting in 2001 - which is a pity because it was one of my favorite channels.

I didn't realise that was rushing - I'm with you, I'd rather they take their time and do a quality job - from what I see so far, they seem to be. It's just that it would make a rather awesome Christmas present, assuming it was ready :D

I would like to see Meat be given the promotion they did with Green Day's American Idiot! Take a chance record company! Don't be big babies. The love of music is more important than the love of money!

I like how everyone in the Tweets are real people! I can't help but think they must have been bothered half the time with Meat and his camera! hahaha When I say real, I mean not acting like thugs or anything.

Well, according to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VH1_Storytellers), the latest one was in February this year, but in general they've been few and far between since 2001.

I like Meat's Storytellers' DVD, but it's a shame that Jim wasn't involved as planned.

I honestly dont know when the album will be released and I dont listen to "rumours" that get posted around the net because the vast majority are untrue but....

I do know that from we see on the twitter posts Meat seems really happy in the studio and that coming from someone who has made no secret of his hate for studio work is a big thing. I honestly believe that Meat being happy will result in something really special so when it happens is not important for me

its likely gonna be out for the spring time [ albums get leaked very quick these days ] so the artist cant leave them hanging around for long!!

PanicLord
10 Oct 2009, 00:09
I think the randomness is a big part of what makes them great! Really good to hear Meat enjoying himself.

I think he sounds a lot better (less difficulty breathing, less scratchy voice) when talking, so maybe all the vocal coaching and the better health is making the vocals he's producing come more easily and sound fantastic, and that makes it more fun - ie less of a chore?

You really could only hear the song very faintly on the recent twitters, but from what I could hear, I'm excited...

11 Oct 2009, 05:25
Meat's enjoying himself and his smile and laugh are contagious. I find myself giggling along at him and da' boys. I'm just going to sit back and wait...hanging patiently and cool.

CC has tweeted and she's coming to town to do her part. Joe L. has facebooked a positive status about the album. There's bound to be more generous tweets, but I shall leave greatness alone to work on the masterpiece.

Since I got tired of different video file formats and the various players you have to use to watch them I installed VLC media player. It plays almost any format. You just have to enter the URL.

OMG, I just noticed that YouTube automatically translates all the video titles into German for me now!!! :wtf: In case you speak German, read this and have fun:

"Fleisch stellt einige der Paramore Bande"
"Eric Vetro Tropfen ins Studio"
"Fleisch schießt Rob produzieren und die Band Aufnahme"
"Fleisch-Kontrollen mit James Michael und Rick Brantley"

Good lord... :lmao:

probably because my computer is too old and can't download the appropriate tools.

What kind of problem do you encounter exactly? Have you already installed Quicktime or does the installation of the tool itself fail? Any error message? What happens (or does not happen) when you try to play the video? How "old" is your PC exactly? Maybe you can provide some info regarding your system (operating system, how much RAM, CPU speed, browser version etc.), so that we can do some troubleshooting. :-)

I've mentioned VideoLAN's VLC media player before, it works fine for me, saved me a lot of trouble with Quicktime, Meat's MP4 files ;), other video files, codecs etc.

A workaround would be to save the files to your HDD and use a converter in order to transfer them to a more convenient format that can be played via a media player that runs on your computer.

I wish they'd stick to one site and one format when it comes to the videos. Don't know why they currently upload some to YFrog / Imageshack and none to YouTube. :?

I hadn't thought of a VLC Media player ... that may actually work better :-)
I was wondering exactly the same thing about YouTube .... I wish they would go back to posting the videos on there.

Sarge
14 Oct 2009, 01:49
Having all the videos on YouTube would not only be more convenient, I also believe that it might work better with regard to promo. YouTube is extremely popular, a lot of people look for Meat Loaf videos there (not only die-hard fans) and they might stumble upon the "twitters" (:))), learning that a new album is being recorded.

Thanks Sarge for having taken the time to write me so complete an answer.

Concerning Quicktime, I've got the player and it works with other stuff. But with Meat's vids, I've got first a white screeen with the blue drawing at the middle (just as if it was uploading) for a few seconds and then it turned into a little icon picturing the blue thing broken.

I've got Windows and Real media players but I guess my problem comes from my computer which is both too full and too old and therefore I can't upload the latest versions of the players. My Windows version is just out of date, I'd be ashamed to name it  Too bad for me...

Thanks again for having tried to help me.

Florence,
I hope it all sorts out for you. Suggesting a library computer may allow you to view the tweets? However, you may need to bring a pair of headphones for sound. Sometimes our library computers don't have speakers (due to noise levels).

I get the same .. my computer isn't that old and has plenty of space, and when I try to download the "latest" version it just informs me I have the latest version, so I'm in the same boat. My Quicktime works with other stuff too.

Maybe this works: Download the files to your computer (right-click the link, select "save target as") and try to open them locally. Don't know if that solves the problem since I use VLC and haven't updated Quicktime in ages but maybe you're lucky.

Given the fact that numerous people seem to have to trouble to view the recent videos, I hope they'll decide to upload them to another place where they are better accessible.

Overall, I am liking what I am hearing from the extremely short clippets we are being teased with on Twitter. Further, I am more than thrilled that Meat Loaf has chosen to actually invite us on the journey with him.

As for what the album may or may not sound like, and coming from the angle of a person who believes that Couldn't Have Said It Better and Welcome To The Neighborhood are two of Meat Loaf's strongest albums...this seems to be shaping up to be quite a remarkable piece of work.

I will fully admit that I blocked out most of Bat Out Of Hell III. I just could not get into the project. It seemed far to "pressured" for my taste on a lot of counts. However, the stand out songs on the album (Blind As A Bat and Alive) were surprisingly not Jim Steinman tunes.

I am only speaking for myself when I say this, but I am quite glad that Meat Loaf is finally working and making another Meat Loaf album for people who appreciate Meat Loaf.

To me, the "Meat Loaf Sound" is very diverse and unique from song to song-album to album-show to show. As an artist, he is about more than just over the top theatrical rock and roll. We have seen his style change with the years. Take his live shows as a prime example, and I am going to skip around a bit, the Born to Rock Tour was very melodic and theatrical, as was the Couldn't Have Said It Better and Three Bats/Seize The Night Tours; however, tours like Just Havin' Fun, Hair of the Dog, and Casa de Carne were all about rock and roll. I am glad he is able to switch it up from time to time.

I would like to thank Meat for taking the time to let us in on the creation process of what is sure to be one amazing rock album!!!

Thanks everyone for your coments about what I had to say. I was apprehensive about posting my thoughts, as I knew they would ruffle a few feathers. Let me say that I consider myself to be a Meat Loaf fan, a Jim Steinman fan, as well as a fan of the work that Meat Loaf & Jim Steinman have created together. However, and I realize I am in the minority here, my favorite Meat Loaf songs - the ones I find myself turning to over and over again - tend to be newer songs in his cataloge that were not written by Jim Steinman. However (again); I do appreciate the work Meat Loaf has done with Jim Steinman over the years. To me, the song Couldn't Have Said It Better ressonates more with my ear and with my soul than I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do that). I know there are a lot of people who do not like the song Do It, but I found it to be a nice new sound for a Meat Loaf album. Yes, the lyrics are quite difficult to wade through, but it works (at least to me). I find that upon listening to the Bat Out Of Hell II album, I am left wtih the feeling that Good Girls Go To Heaven (Bad Girls Go Everywhere) and Everything Louder Than Everything Else and It Just Won't Quit [**side note, one of my fave songs of all time] all sound relatively similar to my ear. Personally, I like the vastly different sounds (again to my ear) we are provided by having multiple songwriters on the Welcome To The Neighborhood and Couldn't Have Said It Better projects.

I am so excited about this upcoming project, due to the multiple song writers working on the projects and due to the idea that Meat Loaf is taking on a new, more powerful and more hard rocking sound on this album. I personally hope that this really is an album meant to be listened to loud, in your car, and with the windows rolled down! One of my favorite live Meat Loaf experiences was the shortened version of I'd Do Anything For Love from the Hair Of The Dog tour, when the song just rocked. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing like a Meat Loaf power ballad, but I personally think that an album that just thrashes from start to finish would be amazing.

Looking forward to what this new adventure (album) has to offer Meat Loaf fans everywhere and hoping any new ventures in the way Meat Loaf sounds will bring even more fans into the mix!!!

Dave

I agree with most of what you've said, although Anything For Love is one of my favourite songs by Meat. I really love the CHSIB & WTTN albums as well, and think they are among Meat's best. While I love the stuff he does with Steinman, the songs he's done by other songwriters have been excellent as well. I tend to listen to his newer stuff more as well and really can't wait for the new album to come out.

There's Star Wars and Star Wars isn't there, the first three that were made of course being the ones that deserve no eye rolling at all and the more recent "prequels" deserving varying elements of eye rolling and tutting. Of course the original spawned the Family Guy parody which is a cartoon classic.

Art is the opposite of War...war is a contest of good versus evil....why do people look to "better" when it comes to art. Art is about enjoyment of what is presented, not about a competition....I prefer to leave the competition on the battlefield.

Did you notice? November is approaching real quick. The tweets have slowed up with studio progress, which can mean the November 10th target date (Meat tweeted about) can be absolutely realistic for mixing and all the particulars relating to that. And then we hurry up and wait......tick...tock......tick....tock....for spring. Whenever the release date it will be worth the wait.

I'm just so spoiled having to see Meat so often during this process. I've enjoyed learning about the recording process, since I was clueless before. Although we were like a flies on the wall for :30 to minutes at a time, Meat's timeliness with his off the cuff posts was sure not to expose the the big picture of CD/Album before its time. And oh, we have verbal/video proof (tweet) saying Meat LOVED working on this CD. Which makes me extremely happy as a fan, because in order to hear more new Meat stuff he has to do something he loathes (be in studio).

To refer back to the Paradise DVD: where I felt sadness for Meat when he says "He hates everything" and now I'm elated to hear that he loved his studio time.

Ah the roller coaster of emotions ... play on Meat ... play on.

Evil One is right.

That documentary was in the "here and now" at the time it was being recorded. The documentary is about Meat's trials, tribulations and successes as of when it was being recorded. Patti wasn't in the band then. Although I love Patti to pieces, I just don't see where they could have placed a shout out to her.

But back on topic. Dave was not seen on the tweets but doesn't mean he hasn't contributed.

The documentary never really explained the backstory of why Aspen was there in the first place. But I think what she's referring to is when Aspen mentioned "the legacy that came before", there were some photos of the past singers, but no photo of Patti. But it's all water under the bridge. Onward and upward.

Yeah, Sarge, I've been wondering about Laurie's piece as well. No tweets about it. It could be one of those closed surprises that we will unwrap when the CD hits the store shelves or when it's avail. on I-tunes for those peeps that are downloading.

There was a tweet a while ago about a song that will make us cry. I'm wondering if that is piano-driven. Or one of the duets with Patti (that we didn't hear) could be piano-oriented. I tend to agree with him on the whole .. However, Meat doesn't use his Twitter page for banal chatting does he? He uses it, presumably as a substitute for a well maintained official website, to keep in touch with his fans and entertain them with posted videos .. and I would think Hugh Laurie would understand that.

That's true, but I doubt Hugh Laurie follows was thinking of Meat when he made that quote and I doubt that he 'follows' him on twitter to know whether he does or doesn't. I think Hugh is saying that for the most part Twitter is full of shit, which he wouldn't be far wrong.

Right on all counts. If I wasn't "following" Meat on twitter, I wouldn't even bother with it. Funny thing is, Meat probably doesn't even realize he's a very credible person to follow in a not so credible venue.

If it happens at all, it would be great to see Hugh and Meat in a simple introduction tweet (as anyone else who had input on this project) or any studio time they can tweet out. Anyway, it's only a few more days away. We'll know soon enough.
