The oldest person ever to give birth Marķa del Carmen Bousada de Lara has died aged 69 leaving behind two 2 year old twins ----> HERE (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article6715420.ece)
Personally I think it's every womans right to have or not to have children, but there's got to be a limit. The selfish daft bitch must have realised that giving birth at 67 there'd be very little chance of seeing her kids reach their 18th Birthdays.

I'm just thinking about the kids.
Unfortunately you can die at any age!! My friend died 8 months after her baby was born and she was only 29 they found her cancer when she was pregnant Dying at 69 is well below the average life expectancy and if she'd been a man having children at 66 i doubt it would've made the news at all!!

On average older people die before younger people, strange but true.
By the time she reached the average life expectancy for a woman in Spain her kids would barely be in their teens.
But what raises another question is, if what she did was so right then how come she lied about her age, claiming she was 55 and not 67? And for the record I don't agree with old men fathering children either

to be honest i ain't got sympathy for her, the kids yeah i do have sympathy for them. i don't think its right that people in their 60's are having kids they're gonna be in their 80's when the kids are in college but if people want kids why don't they have them when they are younger like in their 30's or 40's but not in their 60's, call me old fashion but i don't want to be old and wrinkly when my kids are at college.

Yes and no... Strangly there are higher mortality rates during certain stages of life. Men are more likey to die then women at every stage of life, so men shouldn't bother having children as there is a 50/50 chance they'll see their childs 18th birthday....
I'm sure if when I was born if my nan had a child people like you would be saying the same rubbish and she was still able to have children, but strangly enough whos picking up the pieces after my mum died. Oh sorry but thats ok because she saw my 18th birthday. I don't necessarily think she should have had the children, but then that stems from the fact she was deceptive so she must have known she was doing wrong.

I don't want to enter the right or wrong debate as I can see plenty from both sides.
However, I noticed this in yesterday's newspaper along with a picture of the lady holding the babies, presumably shortly after they were born...maybe this is just me, but I thought she looked old for 67...so how anyone believed she was only 55 is a wonder. And it suprised me that she wasn't asked to provide any idenfication or medical records beforehand.

Just like SamCat I have a friend who was a nurse and she died when her son was 13/14 because someone put a drip in badly and that killed her and then her husband remarried his next wife died of cancer when their son was not even a 1yr old. They weren't even 40...
We can't foresee every tragedy that comes along, so we have to try and have some sort of level playing field. It's sad how many children become orphans, which is why, when we can, we should not allow that to happen.
Theres no such thing as a level playing field when it comes to life!! My Dad lived a reletively healthy life and died at 62 when i was 15, then my Mum remarried a man who was the same age as my Dad, who has had health problems all his life and smoked well into his 70s and is now 90!! The spanish lady who died, her mother lived to 101 so who knows how long we are meant to be here!!

No not really i'm just sharing my story of how things can be!!
My parents were considered ancient at 41 and 47 in 1967 when i was born and now that is not unusual!! My Mum is amazing at 83 and if she'd had me at 66 i'd have had a reasonable amount of time with her
I just feel that whatever age you have children 16 or 66 you cant guarantee how long you're gonna be around for!!

Which is why I said It's sad how many children become orphans, which is why, when we can, we should not allow that to happen.

Depends on what you classify as younger and older. There are higher mortality rates in different stages of life, if you've made it to 60 theres a higher chance you'll make it to 80 for instance then if your 40... or even a teenager. In the victorian times the highest mortality rate was in the under 5's, so if you made it through those years you were pretty safe. Nowadays I think you'll find the most dangerous ages are teenage years and mid to late 40's...
Like I said before I don't think she should have had the babies but then that is because she had gone through the menopause etc. If she had really wanted children she should have done it a lot sooner, plus she was a single parent. I have nothing against single parents but rasing a child with two parents is hard, having one parent whos in their 60's is just unimaginable, its unfair on the children because whos going to pick them up when they fall over and cut themselves. There's an eight year gap between my brother and myself and my dad said there was a big difference in his ability to cope with a young baby.

It depends if I want to be pedantic, which I don't which is why I said 'on average'. If more younger people died than older people then we wouldn't end up with old people ;)
i've read nothing of what anyone here has said... but imo ... it was all for what ? ... poor kids ... stupid woman ...
