Hartlepool Bear

I've had a look this being mentioned previously on here but I can't c anything.
Can anybody shed any light on why ML had the hartlepool bear with him on the GN show? I know about the mayor thing but wots that gotta do with ML?
Or was meat just being his crazy self?

Sorry to sound dumb but this is news to me. I'm a big footy fan and i thought i would have known about it if meat supported a footy team :?

Meat was also on soccer am on sky, talking about hartlepool just before they won the league. he even spoke to their manager on the phone and wished him luck. not sure why he supports them though.

Meat loves sport!! .. when he lived in London he used to go to Lords to watch the cricket! He said that football is THE sport in the UK so he had to have a team to support .. and he picked Hartlepool. And very proud he is too of their impending promotion :)

ahem let me now say something. Hartlepool is close to where my fav team plays. And my fav team is Middlesbrough F.C. When Two teams are close they are derby teams. Now Meat Supports a Derby Team. And he supports Hartlepool so its only right that I give him another nickname alongside Meat Loaf and Fireball its now Monkey Hanger! :lol: (Long story about hartlepool)

I used to live near to Hartlepool when I was growing up decades and decades ago, the story goes that in the last century a French ship was shipwrecked there and the locals thought they were being invaded, they had nevere seen a foreigner before and found the a live monkey in the wreck (probably a pet or mascot) and decided that this was a Frenchman and they hanged it. Easy mistake to make I guess. Anyway Harlepool's FC mascot was elected Mayor not so long ago.

when i told my friend id got meats album..the first thing she said was"hartlepool fc" and im like what... :?
so yeah soccer..if your into footy then i guess up here(north east) its quite well known about him lovin the game.
im not into it myself and im not originaly from here so i didnt have a clue..
