View Full Version : Windows 7
The official release of Windows 7 is only a few days away and the first reviews are coming in. Here's a pretty interesting review done by Chris Bucholz: A Review of the Pirated Copy of Windows 7 (http://www.cracked.com/blog/using-windows-7-may-lead-to-murder/) :sherlock:

So in conclusion, Windows 7 is shit? :shit:
No, it actually isn't.
I have it running on a notebook and it "feels" very good.

Is it significantly better than XP to make it worth my while?
It's significantly better than Vista and the features around the new taskbar are pretty good, so imho it's significantly better than XP too. Needs a lot of muscle though.

Vista uses a heck of a lot of resources just to get running. My task manager says that 40% of my PC's physical memory (3gig) is used when it's just ticking over. Is 7 any less resource-consuming?

I tried Vista but it just ran too slowly so I reverted back to XP. I have plenty of muscle though!
No. IIRC it consumes roughly 1gig with no apps running.

 So none of it's real?
Then Michael Jackson isn't really dead?
Think I will stick with my Apple Macbook, never had any problems with OSX, can't stand Microsoft and Windows now.
I have a free upgrade with purchase of the laptop but was afraid to install...still am actually...lol...

It's a bit early to tell, but first impressions are that it is quite good although slightly confusing at first. It seems faster than XP and it certainly looks better. I haven't had any problems so far. I did have to spend the best part of 6 hours downloading updates though.
In my experience no Windoze OS is any good.
Although since we're pretty much tied to them for many applications, the latest Windoze OS isn't usually fully fit for purpose until they bring out a Service Pack (or two!). I won't be touching it until it's been around for a minimum of 8 months and had multiple fixes applied to the no doubt multiple vulnerabilities that there are within it (and knowing M$ many of these will be identical to vulnerabilities that have been found and fixed in both XP and Vista).

It's been a couple of months now and I've still yet to experience any problems whatsoever, so I'm calling it a success.

Excellent. Thanks for the update :-)
I already have my upgrade at home...but I am still VERY afraid...lol

Hubby upgraded his yesterday... says that at the moment, he's not really noticing the difference, but he's not had that much time to play with it yet...
For Windows 7 "God Mode" try this:
Create a folder
Rename the new created folder to this exact string "GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}"
There you have it, a folder with all of your control panels.
