Just got this months classic rock magazine. There is a page on meat loaf "sensationally announcing his retirement" It is snippets from an inteview he conducted with them which will "be published on a later date".

Its worth buying.

Brief Summary:

He wants to retire from touring before its tires him so much that he can't continue to give a 100% performance to his fans.
Meats says "I can't stand on a stage and give it nothing. I have to go like i go"

Jim has booked a studio in 2004 for bat 3

He will play a few dates to promote the Bat 3 album but will record no more once its finished.

His touring is over after the upcoming CHSIB tour, and your only chance of seeing him live is for a charity event. He is however toying with the idea of doing a 2nite joint concert in 6 of the main cities in the world for bat 3 where you have to go both nights to get the full experience where he'll perform all of the bat albums over 2 nights. - but thats as far as the touring will go.
His other idea is to tape them and distribute them though pay-per-view.

Its worth a read anyway, only one question id like to know to clear something up..... Whats with the duets cd meat has talked about on a couple of occassions with the likes of LL cool J etc?

On a final note, being selfish but, you can't retire meat, what are we going to do!!!???

The 2 night thing sounds interesting. Hopefully he will do some more shows though 'cos I ain't gonna be able to see him this tour and I've never been to any of his shows yet :(

I hate to say it but the way things are looking, unfortunely the CHSIB world tour may be your last chance. Unless Scotland is one of the 6 major cities.

Yeah I know, doubt Scotland would be but maybe I could afford to go further by then.

I've heard about the duets cd but I've not heard about LL Cool J's involvement.

When Meat ceases to tour and record (I prefer not to call it retirement), there will be his movie roles (probably more of them as he'll have more time). There will be his live recordings. I hope more of them are made.

The complete Bat trilogy live. Wow, if it happens that would be amazing!!!! :D :D :D

Unbearable as it is to know Meat's touring days are coming to an end, this would certainly be going out with a bang!

I suppose I can count Guernsey out as one of the major cities! :lmao:

On reflection on what I wrote above I want to say that asolutely no disrespect to Meat was intended regarding the CHSIB Tour. My tickets are booked and I couldn't be more excited about the tour and hearing the new songs live. I'm sure, like all Meat's fans who love nothing better than to see Meat on stage, the idea that this might not be quite the end and that we might also get the Bat trilogy live is another exciting prospect for the future. Selfish I know, but we just don't want to let you go Meat!

I've listened to the CHSIB album literally hundreds of times now, at home and in my car, and it's a stunning piece of work. CHSIB and the two Bats are my 3 all-time favourite albums, and no, please don't ask me to choose between them - I love them equally in their own right!

Danny,

As much as I appreciate your suggestion of Los Angeles OR Florida, I fear that Los Angeles faces no competition- the only way one of those concerts would likely come to Florida is if it were taped at Universal Orlando studios. Los Angeles, in addition to being Meat's home, is a far larger and diverse area than any Florida city.

You shouldn't have any problems finding Classic Rock in any decent newsagents in the UK. :)

your best bet is a big newsagents such as Easons or WHS Smith or somewhere big like that. Smaller ones tend toonly have NMEand Q.

its only a one page article, theisa picture amongst the text, the was a full a4 page photo of him in last months with the CHSIB review. It was from the promo for CHSIB, the photo on the album inlay where hes wearing a blue shirt.

I think the fairest way would be to have one in Scotland, one in Ireland, one in Wales and three in England. But I doubt that Meat will want to do that much travelling.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. We don't know this is definitely going to happen yet!

Right now we have the last (sniff) world tour to be excited about and we can trust Meat to have been cooking up some pretty spectacular ideas to thrill us with on this one!

Yikes, I've just realised the 6 major cities referred to are in the world, not in the UK.

That's terrible !! We'll be lucky to get one of the six here in the UK. London if anywhere at all.

I will pretend that soemone didn't say that!!! The big newsagents are less likely to stock it. For example, WHSmiths are cutting back to do only the top 150 magazines. WE smaller newsagents get all the rest!!!!

Sorry Chris, i am only going on the basis that none of the 3 newsagents in mytown stock themagazine, and i had to go to easons to get it.
