Hulk Hogan's Theme (7)
Well, I've never heard this song but I know it's only instrumental and it's as same as Ravishing. Hmmm... if it's true, it wouldn't be bad!

A shortend version of Ravishing indeed (just under 4 minutes)... but it's lacking something... oh, that's right -- it need vocals! It appears to have added keys and guitars, but it still gets a bit repeatative after a while, and the background shouts in the back don't work for me either... give me Bonnie's version please!
Verdict: not bad, but could've been better (7.5/10)
[edit: oh, and it is credited to the WWF All-Stars, and appeard on the 1985 "The Wrestling Album"]

Thanks Evil!
I think this is the demo of Ravishing. The melody is great but I miss the powerfuly voice of Bonnie. Well...
My score: 7

Hmmmm.....somehow I have never heard of this one either, and I am a serious WWF/WWE fan. Hulk Hogan lives very near my town, just a few miles away. It is a bit jarring to see him at the grocery store or at Kmart, but every once in a while we do and he is always quite pleasant. I will have to find this song to see if I remember it from '85- the peak of my wrestling fandom and simply didn't know the Jim connection.

Ah! I cann't believe I'm saying this - never heard of it - anybody know where there is a clip to download :??:
Has Bonnie Tyler recorded a version then?
you may be able to download it from kazaa dottie.
the version that i remember does have lyrics to it. it started off
....'When it comes crashing down and it hurts inside'.....
it then goes on
.....'I am a real american, you gotta fight, fight for your life'.....

Cheers Ben
it was on winmx a while back...a version that had hogan and some other people talking at the end...then they introduced roddy piper...strange really that this was 18 years ago or something, and those two guys are still in WWE...makes a statement about the direction that company is going in...

I was looking for a download of this song and never found it, but I did find a bit of story behind it on the official Bonnie Tyler site (bonnietyler.dk)
Bonnie says:
"One of the biggest names in wrestling over there (USA) is called HULK HOGAN. He had a listen to "Ravishing" and loved it so much he wanted to use it as his theme song."
"He came to the studio and he wanted a slightly different version. We didn't want to go straight into the lyrics for what they play when he's in the arena. He wanted some chants for the beginning of it, so all through the introduction we were in the studio's chanting "Hulk! Hulk! Hulk!" on the beat."

At last - a question I can answer !!!!
The track is called 'Real American', and the lyrics are as follows.....
I am a real American, Fight for the rights of every man,
I am a real American, fight for what's right, fight for your life!
When it comes crashing down, and it hurts inside,
ya' gotta take a stand, it don't help to hide,
Well, you hurt my friends, and you hurt my pride,
I gotta be a man; I can't let it slide,
I am a real American, Fight for the rights of every man,
I am a real American, fight for what's right, fight for your life!
I feel strong about right and wrong,
And I don't take trouble for very long,
I got something deep inside of me, and courage is the thing that keeps us free,
I am a real American, Fight for the rights of every man,
I am a real American, fight for what's right, fight for your life!
Well you hurt my friends, and you hurt my pride,
I gotta be a man; I can't let it slide,
I am a real American, Fight for the rights of every man,
I am a real American, fight for what's right, fight for your life!
I am a real American, Fight for the rights of every man,
I am a real American, fight for what's right, fight for your life!
If you want it on CD, it can be found on the recent WWE release 'Anthology' - a 3CD set of all the theme music over the years (Only £14.99 on amazon.co.uk).
Hope this helps.

Wait!
This song is not that song!
Jim's song is without lyrics and the melody's like Ravishing!

That must be a strong contender for the 'lamest lyrics to a song ever'
Couldn't surpress a smile...

Song is very poor - I agree. Typical Flag-Waving USA propaganda.
Tune is still Bonnie Tyler's Ravishing though......

And once again: Hulk Hogan's Theme (the one this thread is about) HAS NO LYRICS and is not called "Real American" but "Hulk Hogan's Theme" and has no lyrics and is just an instrumental version of Ravishing...
Our big friend must have used another theme song later on, and I bet that that one is called "Real Americain"...

Evil Nickname,
I think you are quite right about "Real American" being a later (and more popular, actually) theme. The wrestlers change their themes quite often. Most recently Hogan has used "Voodoo Chile" by Hendrix. (Though this is confusing because he now wrestles as a masked character named Mr. America and claims not to be Hogan so he does not use the Hendrix theme) Oy, the melodrama of WWE!
Sherrie
Hogan used a track called "American Made" which some of you might be thinking of...
"He's got the red white and blue running thru his veins" and so forth...The usual god-fearing gun-loving stuff.
so did jimmy write the lyrics or music? or did he do anything. my broter wants to know, where he is a big fan of WWE.

For the track "Hulk Hogan's Theme" from the WWF Wresteling Album, Jim Steinman wrote the music, and did the production. It's an instrumental variation on Bonnie Tyler's "Ravishing".
All other tracks in this topic have nothing to do with Jim.
