Here is a link to an article about the fundraising event that Meat Loaf is involved with this weekend. The "Two out of Three Ain't Bad" golf tournament is today and Sunday, and the "concert and pool party" are tonight at 7PM Las Vegas Time- it's most likely going on right now. This sounds like a tremendous event, for only $10 each you can see a softball game and golf games featuring ML and a load of other celebs, and for $50 attend the poolside concert. Now if only Las Vegas weren't thousands of miles away....
If anyone finds pics from this event, please post a URL here as I'd love to see them!

Yes, there were two tickets to participate in the weekend on sale on eBay the other week .. on but it now for $600 or $800 !! Now I'd LIKE to think some of that would go to the charity .. but I fear it won't!

Caryl I think you fears are well founded! but why can't I get on a guest list
Yes, there were two tickets to participate in the weekend on sale on eBay the other week .. on but it now for $600 or $800 !! Now I'd LIKE to think some of that would go to the charity .. but I fear it won't!
The package (it included hotels and all 3 events) went for about $1,000 in the end (the opening bid was $800 but it wsa later reduced to $699 when there were no bids on it for a few days.) The winning bid was by a company that also sold things like "behind the team area" seats at hockey games unfortunately.
The good news is that the money went to the Lili Claire Foundation (which is what the weekend was in aid of). A link about the foundation is at http://www.liliclairefoundation.org/eventsandbenefits.html - Gold sponsorship is *only* $25,000!
Sin: .. you want a list? .. lol
SueW .. well that's good news re it going to the charity :)
Sounds like a godly weekend to me :D
to bad you can't have every thing *sigh*
Asha
Yes Asha, agreed,
we were the ones that ran it up on the  ticket broker company. When it was reduced to $699, we thought we'd try for it, adding up rooms and all events and making an allowance for charity. Of course we went past the original $800, but it was just them and us, no idea how far they would have gone, we dropped out before $1000.
Ah well, not everything is meant to be...but dag nabit, we should be in Vegas right now, LOL.

I Just read on a Guns N' Roses fansite 'Heretodaygonetohell' that Sebastian Bach (skid row), Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx (Motley Crue) and Steven Adler were to have joined Meat at this event.
Can anyone confirm this?

Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx were on the list of celebs expected to attend, but I did not hear for sure that they did.

Hi, Sue! Thanks for the links and the terrific photos!
Kasim looks wonderful, as always! Did you get any photos of Meat and the rest of the band, as well? I was just wondering if all the new band members were in Las Vegas. They haven't had a lot of time for rehearsals yet, have they?!
Thanks again, Sue! :D
Love,
MB

I was only sent the photos of Kasim.
Apparently they've having a few days off from rehearsals at the moment according to Kasim's post this morning at http://www.kasiminfo.com/Board/viewtopic.php?t=78
Also, I found the link to that E-Bay auction. It's at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2173628421&category (it may not wrap properly so you'll have to put the 2 parts into your browser).

Here is the first article I've seen about Meat's big weekend. You can find it at this link: http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/read/2003/jun/02/515160541.html
But since I don't know how long the article will be online, here it is: (Hope this is okay, R.)

VegasBeat -- Timothy McDarrah: Stars Bask in Meat and Greet at Palms
VegasBeat appears Sunday through Friday in the Las Vegas Sun. Timothy McDarrah can be reached at tim@lasvegassun.com or at (702) 259-4096.

The unmistakably booming voice of former New York Yankees shortstop and broadcaster Phil Rizzutowas literally making ripples in the pool at the Palms.
Meat Loaf was doing a 5 p.m. sound check for his Saturday night poolside gig. After members of the crew got their cues down for "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" (which features a famous Rizzuto narration of a "player" about to "score"), Mr. Loaf tossed out some songs he figured his all-star band could play.
Apparently there is a little less spontaneity in those all-star band jams than one may have thought.
"Do you know 'All Shook Up?' -- we are in Las Vegas -- ought to do an Elvis song," he said to Steven Adler (Guns N' Roses), Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Billy Hinsche (Beach Boys) and Billy Burnette (Fleetwood Mac, and the son of rockabilly star Dorsey Burnette).
The tight ensemble delivered a rousing rendition to an attentive audience of, well, no one besides VegasBeat and a couple of bartenders slicing lemons.
Then came the Rolling Stones classic, "Honky Tonk Woman."
Bach was at the front mike. "I don't -- know the -- words to -- this song can somebody help me out?" he sang in perfect rhythm to the music.
Vocalist Patti Russo took over. One of the roadies called it "a Meat Loaf singalong."
We were hoping things would go bad so he would have instead called it a "rocky horror" show, from the 1975 cult movie that featured Marvin Lee Aday (what Mr. Loaf's parents named him).
But everything went smoothly at the concert and at the other charity events -- including a softball game and a golf tourney -- to benefit the Lili Claire Foundation at UNLV.
Other names making the Meat scene: ex-NFL stars Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson and Willie Gault, television host Bob Goen, former "Saved By the Bell" star Dennis Haskins, 'N Sync's Lance Bass, actor Brett Cullen and "Home Improvement" star Richard Karn.

Way to go MB! Thanks for the article. I spent about an hour earlier today trying to find an article in the Las Vegas papers online with no luck so I'm glad to see that you were able to find one. I would love to hear ML do "Honky Tonk Woman", it's one of my favorite songs. I know he did it on many of the Havin' Fun shows last year, but at the show I went to I think he replaced it with Mony Mony. Maybe this tour....
Sherrie
Thanks Sue and MB,
for reminding me of what we missed  . JK, but I'm still pissed at the ticket broker jackasses that outbid us.
Just looking forward to July 11, we will be "on the road to nowhere" (rural WI) and get to see our first concert of the tour, woohoo!!! Can't wait. :D
