R.? About avatars...

Is there a known problem with avatars on this board? I can't get them to work... I paste the url (http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/210837/avatar.gif) in the appropriate box, press submit... and then nothing happens. Mozilla doesn't seem to do anything, and the Interet Expoiter gives a time-out after a long time...?

Is this a common thing, or is it just me?

Hi, William and Asha! I've been having the same problem for the past several days!

I put my link (http://www.conubic.com/graphics/sw.gif) in my profile and the page just sits there and eventually, I get an error message saying something about no connection could be made with the URL I am giving. But I know it's there and I can get it when I paste it into my browser.

R., can you help me, too?? :(

I just entered both urls as an off site avatar in each profile and it worked right away?
What kind of error message do you get, which server is mentioned there?

With me it just said:
Found website, waiting for reply...

and then I waited, and waited, and waited...
then after awhile it said Ready, and nothing had happend. Not really a error message with me, just that nothing happens

If I change something other then my avatar in my profile, I do not have this problem, it immediatly changes the settings, no problems. Only with my avatar.

"no connection could be made with the URL" sums it up prety nicely... in IE, that is, in Mozilla, I wait, and wait, and after some more waiting, still nothing happens... strange but true....

Anyway... thank you R.! Now my South Park look-alike can be enjoyed by all!

Don't know what happened. One minute the avatar was there, the next it was gone and I couldn't get it back.

The message I received was not specific, as I said before. But I hope this fixes it for good!!

You BET I'm excited about June 22nd!!! And a few other dates coming up, if I can make it to them. It's going to be an incredible, but challenging summer for me, as you know!

Just 20 more days, though. I'm SO excited I can hardly sit here and type!! :p

Don't know about M&Gs, though. Meat hasn't said anything yet about the US ones. But I'm sure he will, in his own time!!

Until then, I remain hopeful! :lol:

Like Testify, I need an idiots guide to getting an avatar - I think I must be the only one without a picture on my posts!!!

I take it an avatar :? is the picture or moving thingy to the left.....

Yes it is.

In your profile you can select an avatar.
Select Show gallery, select a picture, from the different galleries.
Just klick on the white circle below a pic you like.
The chose select avatar, then klick Submit and your done.

Or, if you have a nice picture you found at a other site, just copy the URL to the box next to where is says "link to off site avatar" and then klick submit.
If it doesn't work, ask R for help.
