Ok a Fantasy Reality thread which probably doesn't belong in General Messages?
Before Meat announced during the Casa tour that he was going to work on a new album I thought in all honesty it may have been time for a new PROPER compilation cd.
We had all this talk of Steinman being interested in doing a Conclusions & Climaxes thing but yet we are still waiting. He claimed he had several songs written for Bat 3 which we may never hear. Whether or not these songs really exist I don't know but there are several songs which I do know exist that I really would have liked Meat to have recorded. His studio vocals sound awesome on Bat 3 and HCTB and having a proper version of What Part of My Body would just be incredible. I also think the world should hear Angels Arise (Choir / Piano / Orchestra), Graveyard Shift and a much less musically version of Not Allowed to Love by Meat and Patti. Having just some demos floating around and some dodgy or not well known recordings is a shame and doesn't do the music justice.
Anyway my thoughts sometimes drift into another reality of what could have been. And a cd set like this is what I would imagined could have been put together.

Does anyone else think it is time for a new compilation with some new added songs?
Yes. And great cover. but I think it shouldn't be aimed directly at the BOOH franchise. I doubt he'd sponsor a compilation that has five tracks from his least favorite album of all time.
Would love every album to be featured.
took the words, BAAB, Break It, 2 outta 3, paradise, AFL, Louder, RRD, and BOOH from the bat franchise
MG, DRFL, Masculine, and MATLAF from the 80's
then CHSIB, lie for you, testify, what you see is what you get
that should leave room for three new songs on a 2cd set
Not in that order, though
That cover art compilation as well as the track listing.......INCREDIBLE!!!! I would definitely get that CD in a heartbeat!
Warioloaf, the track listing should stick with what was on the trilogy! Those songs are amazing, don't get me wrong, but the track listing should be for the Trilogy and for the B-Sides of those tracks!
:D

then how is that a true very best of?
The Monster is loose over DRFL?
Alive over Modern Girl?
Bat Out of Hell over Masculine?

A member for 7 years and your first post! Is this a record? ;-)
Back to the subject, personally I couldn't care less about compilations of stuff I've already got at least once; what I would like to see are new things and lost demos etc.

One track I long for is a Meat version of Still the children. The Steinman version is so packed with emotion that it is one of the very few songs that I just have to stop whatever im doing and just listen.
Simply thinking what it would be like with Meat singing it sends shivers down my spine

First off, I have to say you did an unbelievably amazing job with the cover. I'd buy it just for that :D But I always thought that Climaxes and Conclusions was more based around the Meat Loaf / Jim Steinman songs, rather than just Meat's work. In other words, everything except IACBTM in the Bat 3 section (and PFL in Act IV) doesn't work. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that was my understanding of it.

This. We're Still The Children is quite possibly my favorite song that Steinman never got around to releasing outside of his demos. Packed full of emotion and feeling, and reminds me (a lot) of Lost Boys and Golden Girls. Only better :P This, and to slightly lesser degree, What Part of My Body HAVE to be done at some point by Meat. And Braver Than We Are (another of my favorites). But that's not as important as the other two :D
I'd be interested to hear if Meat actually does have any plans of working with Steinman properly ever again. It's long overdue :(

Oh yeah

Although I know the whole idea is unrealistic I also think forgetting about Desmond Child's efforts on Bat 3 is unrealistic. In many ways I think Alive and BAAB are more "Jim Steinmany" than the Steinman covers Meat recorded on there. "Seize the night" should have been this epic 10 minute JS song and instead it leaves me with a really empty feeling especially when we get to the Good Girls intro and a boring inaudible guitar solo, it sucks. The sheer energy and passion in Alive / BAAB and perhaps even Monster and What about Love are what makes Bat 3 work for me to a certain extent, although obviously I would have preferred a proper JS production. I did forget about Braver than we are and would probably put that in place of PFL, even-though I think the latter is probably the only true existing Meat Loaf song I REALLY like since Bat 3. I'd rather see this type of compilation than Teddy Beat songs on it which is probably what we will eventually get.
I just completely disagree with all of this. You are just recycling songs that have already been recycled. How many versions of AFL and BOOH do we need?? A whole new album of unreleased songs is what you want to be doing. Plus it's more of a challenge, and as appealing as the album cover is the suggested content leaves a lot to be desired. The same old stuff is just boring at this stage.

You say that but in all honesty how many artists do you know who are in their 60s bring out new material from which they will perform AT LEAST 7 songs live on tour?! I can't think of anyone. Springsteen / Dylan / Elton John / Billy Joel / Tina Turner / The Stones etc etc all may fling a few new songs in their live sets but they will rely for around 80% at least on their back catalogue. In my opinion there is NOTHING wrong with that. Heading into a new area is risky in my opinion and I don't see many artists try that at that stage of their career. Meat tried something new with HCTB which for the effort I applaud he did but the result is something I really don't like unfortunately so hence I brought forward this idea even though I know most people will hate it. Going by record sales of the Peace of the Action compilation though I would have thought it would be a wise choice.
The Bat franchise is by far Meat's best selling baby so why not capitalize on that one last time will there is still time. I'm not so sure I'll be hanging around for Hang Cool Teddy Bear 2 or 5 whatever the title may be. Neither can I see Jim Steinman pull of a successful musical working with a 70 year old+ producer. But yeah please prove me wrong, that's all I can say.

Yeah Springsteen, Joel, and Elton John may release a few of their classics once or twice. But the Loaf has released his classics from the Bat saga so many times at least 5 or 6 times anyway. You are flogging the Bat album to death I mean people are just sick of it at this stage. Move on and give us something new.

Did Meat release them? Thought most of the releases were from Sony bunging out yet another compilation.

It's his name that's on the front cover. People won't be thinking it's Sony bunging out another album they'll just see the artist, title, and same old content. The record companies do more damage than good by flogging I think.

And then they go and buy it again regardless.

I doubt it. A compilation based on only Bat stuff with some new artwork, some new songs and backed up with a tour would be more representative of Meat. I think most people know the official compilation from the tacky record company ones. Look at the reviews on Amazon on Piece of the action. Although people praise the collection for such a small amount of money they do realise a lot is missing and not quite right. I would imagine that's how most people see them: value for buck but not quite the real thing.
