I was just wondering there how we haven't seen a live meat loaf concert on TV since Welcome To The Neighbourhood Born To Rock Concert from the Beacon. I have read the USA are getting one of the CHSIB shows televised Aug 15th. Here in theUK channel 4 televised the Beacon.

Dueto the huge demand (as the shows ticket sales show) perhaps we could write tothe BBC or Channel 4 or Sky and ask them to record and show on TV one of Meats concerts since people are clearly going mad to see one!!!

Just an idea, but if this forum where toget behind the idea, some TV company might consider it. I know some of you here are disappointed because you can't get to a concert so lets bring the concert to you so to speak.

Just an idea.

Great idea, I hope that you guys can work it out. (I have never seen the Beacon Theatre show- I'd love to see it someday.) The CHSIB concert on 15th August that you mentioned isn't a full concert, it's really a TV appearance on a show called "Good Morning America". It will be an outside concert, with at most 2-3 songs broadcast. (Those at the site of the show may hear more, but only a few will actually be shown on nationwide TV.) Mind you, I'm not complaining- any publicity for CHSIB in the US is good!

I have the beacon concert on vid, it was a great show, though I would love to see a 'new' concert on the telly as well.
But I guess we would have to write to one of our television channels to get that, unless BBC would air it on 1 or 2, :D

Anyway, I think it's a great idea ChrisNI. You have my vote  8)

I Will e-mail Sky/BBC and Channel 4. TV companies normally repsond. I had suggested a while back to ITV when they were running their "An Audience With" series that they consider Meat Loaf. They replied saying they would consider him for future recordings. There have been none since.

Its worth a try, but we need more than one person requesting it. I'm not going to post addresses and start an all out campaign run from this site, but its worth maybe a few of us getting in touch with our TV stations and seeing what the responce is like.

Been lurking a lot lately. Anyway, writing BBC might not be a bad idea, as they DO have new concert footage, or at least i think they do. The special Meat and the band taped in NYC with Russell Watson, what was that, back in March i think, was basically a whole mini concert show by Meat and the band, and then the couple of songs with Russell for the actual program.

Thing is, once Meat and the band took the stage before Russell came out, i saw that the photographer AND the video people were shooting from the moment everything started. Granted, the video camera people couldve been doing test shots, but i wouldnt see something like that for EVERY song that wasnt being used on the program! So basically I'm trying to say, i do believe there's video footage. Id especially love to see that concert again -- it was almost like the Havin' Fun shows, but for some reason, to me, it just seemed everyone was at 110% and over, and i thought a lot of the summer/winter shows were great, so that should hopefully relay how well Meat and the band did that evening. OK enough from me! Take care!!

I think this is a great plan. I know someone who works at Auntie Beeb so will ask them to look in the internal directory at who would be best to contact regarding this.

I too, recorded the Beacon show. Watched the first half and then taped Coronatio Street over it!!!

Oh and about the Beacon concert (I'm figuring i shouldnt edit to include this in my post cause it's long enough, if this is wrong, my apologies!): I was in attendance that night and there's footage that wasnt used. I believe they did Frying Pan, All Revved Up and a couple of others just to name a few. Heck, the same could be said about the Storytellers taping -- that evening was LONG (think about it, Meat telling stories! :D ), and im pretty sure not every song performed that night made it to air either possibly, either that or i might be wrong and its not every STORY made it to air that night :) ! But the footage is around, would be nice to see it though (concert footage i mean!!)! Heck, you guys all know that the first VH-1 concert special back in 93 was actually so popular they showed two parts to it, right?? The second one only had like two extra/different songs but also some interview footage, it didnt get shown too often though if i recall correctly. Anyway, enough from me, take care!

Thank you so much for sharing!

ChrisNI, Great idea! BBC, please, so we can also watch it in Holland (no, any station, really!). But I will mail the BBC, okay?

Love,

If anyone gets a reply, post it here, so far i have contacted Sky about either the Plymouth concert or the November ones. Maybe Caryl could suggest it to Mercury who might have an influence on what shows their artists appear on...don't know the ins and outs but maybe someone does?

Tracklisting for the night of the BBC Meat Loaf/Russell show (trying to remember):

Life is a Lemon (with the drums!)
Crazy About a Mercury/Mercury Blues (whichever title you prefer  )
All Revved Up
Couldn't Have Said It Better
Bat Out Of Hell
Hound Dog
You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth
Johnny B Good

Now its been awhile but Couldnt Have Said It Better and Bat Out of Hell were the two songs for the BBC Swapping Notes show, or whatever it was supposed to be called. Cant wait to see CHSIB -- it was basically a trio song but Meat 'won' Patti at the end, but then somehow Pearl, Russell, Patti and Meat all wound up at the front of the stage during the end of the last chorus (im wondering if it makes more sense during the show itself just why Pearl comes down front, cause it was something that puzzled me that evening, not a problem to me, it just seemed out of place, at least during the taping itself).

Bat was a duet with Russell and Meat -- i think Russell released it on a single at some point?? Not sure! Then, Russell and the band performed Hound Dog, but Meat chimed in on a chorus or two, so it was kind of another duet :) !

They actually said at this point, they needed to record CHSIB again, but that Russell had already left, so instead they did the rest of the setlist above! :) OK, hopefully i didnt post about this back then, but you wanted to know the setlist, so if it is a repeat, my apologies yet again! Was a great night, one of the nicer recordings i went to. The 99 Hard Rock Live recording was another nice/fun/interesting (i'm in the biz, or at least trying to be, so even the dull recording stuff that drags sometimes is to me very interesting!) evening of Meat and band performances :) !

Speaking of Hard Rock Live -- another recorded concert that had some songs that didnt make it to the airing! OK take care!!

Jennifer Sal:
Any ideas when that will be aired, since you said:
the BBC Swapping Notes show, or whatever it was supposed to be called

I had been looking on the Inet for that show, but couldn't find anything on it. Or do we have to make them air it, mean this in a nice way, like the emails every-one is sending.

Thx.

Now, want to tell everyone I haven't been mailing yet. Reason: not sure what the right adresses are. Would really like this to 'be effective' so could someone please pm me with the adresses??? :??:

I think the plymouth concert would be a great bet. It sold out quick and not everyone can get to plymouth, especially because its so far out of the way. If had had of been anywhere else i woulda went. Its also worth mentioning that Meat is one of the Headliners at Party In The Park the day after which is televised on channel 5 all day so we'll see Meat there at least! The people at the TV companies might need reminded just how popular Meat is!

Just received my first reply, this from Sky TV:
---------------------------------------------------------

Dear Chris

Thank you for your email about Meat Loaf.

Unfortunately, Sky has no plans to broadcast this concert, however, your
interest has been noted and passed to the relevant department for their
information.

Thank you for your interest in Sky.

Kind regards

I expect this to be the first of many replies but at least Meat has said the Australian show will be televised so it makes it a little better....can't wait for this tour...the world has to see it!

I received a similar email. So it seems to me they actually do read these emails if they are nice enough to answer this personally.

Mine was send to Mariella from Debbie Tant, not quite the same mail, but the same message.

Who knows, one day they will 'remember' these mails!!!

Think this was very kind of them because I've gotten used to hearing absolutely nothing from these stations.

Ofcourse I couldn't agree more, the world HAS to see this!!!

Great day to you,

Mariella
