As much as I love HCTB, Bat I was, is, and for me always will be the be all, end all Meat Loaf album. It's what got me started on Meat in the first place, pure perfection from start to finish.
The intelligence level of this site has slipped to an all time low...
Way to go!

When are the MRI scanners going to become available for those who vote for HCTB? Perhaps hearing aids will suffice. Sorry but this truly is a ridiculous comparison of universal proportions.

:roll:Not true, both are absolutley great albums.
We all know how much you dislike HCTB, you have made that clear over and over and over again on these boards, but at the end of the day, thats you opinion and I respect that. But, everyone else is free to have opinions to whether you agree with them or not. Some love HCTB with all their being, and its their right to do that. To me there is nothing ridiculous about this, it is simply a matter of opinion.

This has to be one of the most offensive things I have seen posted on this site in a very long time. There is a whole lot of closed minded thinking on this site and these polls are serving the purpose of tearing the fan base apart more than doing anything productive at all. Attack the words, not the people. Really?

if there was a "tie" option, id vote that.
if there was a "tie" option, id vote that.
But there is not because these polls are meant to bring on controversy and stir the pot rather than actually accomplish anything. To compare any two pieces of art is about a fruitless as the "which came first, the chicken or the egg" debate and will only cause as much friction.

I can think of a lot more offensive posts on this board and one person in particular posting these springs to mind. In addition I think Meat's choices musically has already torn the fan base apart more than anything I could ever achieve with my sarcastic rants.

How has Meat torn the fan base? He chose a new style...many artists do. For god sakes you cant expect him to sing Jim Stienman songs or that STYLE of song all the time.

Why can't I expect that? Most artists I know and like stick to the same thing, so has Meat pretty much between 1977 and 2008. Indeed some artists feel the need to re-invent themselves and try to be current and hip. George Michael and Madonna spring to mind mostly with regards to that.

Then it is a damned shame that Meat Loaf fans are so closed minded then. I never thought I would see the day. I feel bad for Meat Loaf on this one that his fans are so hung up on preconceived notions of what they think he should be rather than what he really is - an evolving artist, nothing more...nothing less.

I would also venture to say that George Michael and Madonna have both done some amazing music and some amazing clunkers. Personally, it is fun to see an artist who is not afraid to change. Do you want to be a fan of an artist or do you want to be a fan of a cliché? How can you expect an artist to be relevant when you pigeon hole them into doing the same song over and over again?

Meat is human, just like the rest of us.
If you guys can't get past the fact that humans evolve, change, and what not, then you ARE indeed closed minded. It makes me sad, because I came to this forum because I heard that this was the best place to discuss and talk about Meat in a positive fashion. But all I have seen since I got here is bashing his amazing new CD and his hard work.
How can you treat someone you supposedly call an idol or favorite artist the way that you guys do? It just makes no sense to me :(

This is turning into a nother debate as to whether HCTB was a good idea or not.
Bat 1 is a classic and nothing can compare to it in terms of the importance it has in Meat's career and the fact that it made Meat a household name across the world.
Having said that, I rarely listen to it these days and I can safely say that HCTB is listened to regularly by me. Make of that what you will.
The problem here is, no matter who you are or what you do - It is impossible to please all of the people all of the time.
I suggested this comparison with tongue firmly in cheek when someone asked for an alternative poll to the crazy Bat II v HCTB. Any attempt to compare Bat I or II to HCTB is frankly, ridiculous.
Things must be taken at face value, and always in context. Another Bat III type album would of been shot down by the purists. A CHSIB type album would of been branded 'bland' 'nothing new' or 'same old Meat Loaf' ...Y'know i think if Meat released an album straight out of the Bat I mould & of that standard, he'd be accused of 'trying to relive past glories'
...He really his damned if he does, damned if he doesn't!

I make it out as you played bat to death, and you like to hear something fresh and new.
You seem to love bat but can only listen to live versions of the songs cause your sick of the album.
so even though its been overplayed it holds a strong place and is quite better.
thats what i make of it. Imma physiologist at heart.

These polls placing HCTB against Bat I and II are meant to make the point that more votes will go for classic Meat Loaf albums and to put down HCTB. Perhaps because of a "disgruntled old timer" comment from another thread. It is really obvious. A lot of artists evolve and change over time, some fans just have a hard time accepting it. And yes, this is going a long way in drawing the battles lines...

I make of it that Bat is 30 years old and HCTB is new. In 30 years time which will you listen to more often?
