View Full Version : Cheers or Fraiser
i really love the shows Cheers and Frasier. They were two of the best written shows ever produced.
I hope most of you are familiar with the two sitcoms.
Which did you prefer?
I said Cheers cause of one person: Norm Peterson
Only voted for Fraiser because I never actually saw Cheers

:-). Maybe this should be in the "useless facts" thread, but the Star Trek - Deep Space Nine character "Morn" was based on Norm.

I voted for Frasier because of the Niles character.

I never knew that!!!!
Fraiser for me
Two classics. It's like choosing between Bat and Bat II, almost impossible.

My thoughts also, and I can't see the point anyway in trying to determine whether I prefer one over the other. It's like trying to say which is better out of Fawlty Towers and Fools & Horses. Both were gems, just as Cheers and Frasier. Each was great, each was of its time. The writing was imo a bit sharper in Frasier, which is not to say Cheers wasn't pretty sharp, and I agree with those who say the Niles character was pure gold ;)

Frasier for me - some very clever writing. Niles got many of the best lines, like this one:
"My brother is too kind - he was already eminent while my eminence was merely imminent."
Never watched any of them ever. I don't even know what they're about. :|

Cheers is about a bar in Boston and Fraiser is a spin off about a radio metrosexual physiatrist and his metrosexual brother who live in seatlle with their retired policeman father and british seamstress

I think the word you want is "psychiatrist" and I don't think I ever thought of either man as metrosexual.

 Frasier.
Cheers had it's moments, but Frasier was a whole different league 8)

Nor me .. and when did Daphne tale up needle and thread? She was Martin's physical therapist!

Didn't she end up as housekeeper and general dogsbody? It's been a while since I watched an episode. :|
She entered employment as his physical therapist, and continued in that role even after she moved in with Niles .. but yes, she also acted as general housekeeper etc

I'm going to go revisit some Frasier eps. These posts are leaving me laughing. And yes, Daphne was a live in physical therapist. Roz had some really funny lines too and Eddie the dog. OMG! off to watch some on you tube.
Roz had some really funny lines
Sadly, they were delivered with a god awful cliched northern accent, the weakest part of Frasier.
You're thinking Daphne, Roz was American.
Frasier for me too, never really got into Cheers (before my time  ) I agree with Andy though, the "British" accents are horrific.

You're right. My mistake.
(I'll print this out so you can frame it)

 Yet still better than the accents found in British soap operas :bleh:
Remember Brookside?
And Corrie, Eastenders, Emmerdale Farm, the list goes on..........
The confusing thing in Frasier was that Daphne's brothers all had different regional dialects :wtf:
That can be overlooked though because the show was so good. 8)
