New Bon Jovi song

So, I saw Bon Jovi on the Today show this morning. One of the songs they played was a new one called, "What Do You Got?". Not a bad tune, but as soon they stated it, I was reminded of a Motley Crue song (Home Sweet Home).

Bon Jovi can do no wrong in my eyes. I have every album and think they're awesome. "What Do You Got?" is a shocking use of grammar. I can't condone it for that very reason.

Was soooo into them, all the albums, seen live on their stadium gigs in the UK for several years all untill they released " this left feels right", bought it with the free dvd and took it back the next day demanding my money back. IMO they sold out, lost their way and released something just to make a few bob, since then they've done nowt for me.

Yikes... I'm all for alternative versions of songs. I actually quite liked that album... *ducks the inevitable barrage*

I liked them up until Crush, which did wonders for an ex gf of mine, but like M went off them after the whole left feels right thing.

With that said I'd like to see them live at some stage. They are playing in Dublin next year but the best standing spot to get is the Diamond Ring circle for €250, no meet and greet or anything like that but I do know for US dates that the price for that type of package at their shows is into the thousands.

Jon Bon Jovi's solo album Destination Anywhere is well worth listening to by the way.

Yes indeed, Janey Don't You Take Your Love To Town is awesome, and the rest of the album is pretty decent too! I saw them all live a few years back at St Mary's stadium in Southampton and they were supported by Nickelback! Kick-ass show, loved the whole thing!!

They've gone way down hill since their poodle perm days when they appeared at Donington Monsters Of Rock below ZZ Top, Marillion and Metallica on the bill in 1985.

I'm shocked actually at how many people were completely put off when they release 'This Left Feels Right'...I didn't mind it, it certainly wasn't their best album but it was something different, it was what it was then they moved on.

Their more recent stuff certainly han't grabbed me as much as their early stuff, there's been a few times recently when they've performed a "new" song and I've ended up singing one their older songs over the top of it. I'll always love them though :))

I agree with Mike too, Destination Anywhere was a fab album :up:

Keep The Faith has a few notable songs on it.

After that I pretty much lost interest.
They went too trendy and it didn't sit right with me.
When you are an artist (rather than a product of the Cowell factory for ear shite) you can either stick to what you know your fans like, or you can chase popular public approval.
Sorry, you can't do both.

Since keep the faith i've heard a couple of pretty decent songs in passing (This Ain't A Love Song, It's My Life) but nothing comes close to the anthem days of Born To Be My Baby or Living On A Prayer.

To identify the problem with Bon Jovi, you need look no further than their new 'Greatest Hits' release & specifically the years in which the various tracks were originally released.

I love classic Bon Jovi, but in recent years they've almost slipped from my musical radar entirely. Recent releases have contained nothing 'new' nothing that I find 'exciting' - They have (sadly) in my eyes become rather 'stale'

This is why I believe Meat Loaf deserves such an immense amount of credit for going away, aged 62 and coming back with HCTB. Something totally new, something that was always going to divide public opinion.

That's what I want from the select group of artists I truly love. I don't want essentially the same material reheated every couple of years purely for the sake of having a new release to promote.

I ideally want to see boundaries pushed & the status quo challenged (In the way Meat has with HCTB) But failing that, I want it to at least be exciting. Something that I'm afraid Bon Jovi in 2010 just simply are not.

Just to add my two-pence-worth, I've been a Jovi fan since I was about twelve, and still am... There are definitely some albums that are better than others, but I think that can be said about any artist. I've seen them a few times live, (Milton Keynes Bowl, supported by Nickelback - awesome show, and got me into Nickelback too!) and they always put on an amazing show.

I've been looking at tickets for Dublin too Mike... Need to chat up hubby, see if we can do it, but you never know, I might see you there!
