View Full Version : What Meat thought of the stoney and Meatloaf rerelease
I found this very interesting. Its from 1979. Google News has some wealth of overlooked Meat content and articles:

Interesting article. I read an interview some time ago in which Meat said how much he disliked that release, he also made some comments about the "meatloaf" cover, as far as I remember.
"Then the remix was released to cash in on Meat's current success."
Probably, considering that it was released a short time after Bat Out Of Hell and labeled as a "Meatloaf" album. I have a Dutch release that even has the typical Meat Loaf font printed on it, it seems to be identical to the one on the Bat cover, except for the fact that there's no space between the words "Meat" and "Loaf".
"It's not the Meatloaf of today, of course, but it's an interesting product for his fans."
Can't entirely disagree with that as its difference to Bat shows Meat's versatility as a singer but I'd rather say that about the original record. Although I wouldn't call it a Meat Loaf album, the original from 1971 has a certain authenticity and is an early product of his career.

The REAL problem I have with it is the omission of stoney on "Stone Heart", "Everything Under the Sun", and, most noticeably, "Who is the Leader?"
Also the male duet version of "Kiss Me Again" is just awkward.....
If it was for his fans, they wouldn't of butchered half-decent songs like that. At that time (and still is in some respects), Meat's biggest song was a duet, why take her out?
