can someone please tell me what happened to meats dad i was told that he died , does anyone know what he died off & when he died in the film it shows meat going back to see him.to make a pact , but i dont belive that , the way he treated meat , idon't think he would go back to see him , but if anyone knows what happened i would like to know the true story , :idea:

It's not in the book but I think his daddy died in 1974. If Meat Loaf went to the funeral I dont know only he can answer.....Which he probably won't

we all know what a ~~~~~~~ his dad was to meat it says nothing to what happened to his dad in the book , while meat talks about how much he loved his mum . in the film to hell & back it shows meat going back to see his dad to make amends but not in the book so i don't belive he did anyone else with any info

thanks carly it just shows how wrong the films is. in the film it shows meat going back to see his dad to patch things up.thats a kind of catchhy song 2 out os aint bad , what in 1974 hes dad said in the film, yea right

Yes .. I always think it's unwise to expect 100% documentary accuracy of a tv biopic .. but that particular scene just struck me as being way off. Most things I could see some link to the autobiography (even if the time frame was squished for dramatic licence, or an action attributed to someone else for a similar reason) .. but that one seemed to come way out of left field and had not even the most tenuous of links to anything Meat had said. If it didn't happen, (and whatever else may have taken place, that "shrine" to his son's phenomenal success clearly couldn't have) it must have been pretty hurtful, even to someone who has developed into a centred human being and a loving, wise and balanced parent himself

That scene should never have been put in the movie. The whole thing is pretty shabby anyway.

I enjoyed the movie on balance, and it's clear from messages left by Meat's fans that many found it inspiring .. so I wouldn't condemn the whole thing .. but I agree that particular scene was both unnecessary and inaccurate and should not have made it to the screen

The fact that he was dead long before Bat came about really irritated me though. Although the acting was pretty good.

I clearly remember behind the music and maybe a magazine saying that meat and his dad did see each other again before he died,at least giving that impression.BTM said something like "it would be years before meat would see his father again." when talking about him leaving.So whether he was alive during BOOH or not,I really think there was another meeting.


By the way,I liked the movie for the most part.Although some things are screwed up.
