Can't see a thread about this yet. In Meat's answers to questions video tonight he said he now has a mobile recording studio so it will be easier to record albums ..

Sounds as though he intends to be recording albums for quite a while yet .. which is the best news I've had today :D

With the move to Sony he seems to have taken more control, direction and perhaps ownership of his work. Not sure what that means for future releases .. whether they'll be downloads only or we'll still have wonderful solid CDs to hold in our hands .. but I'll take more Meat recordings any way he delivers them :D

Move to Sony? Did I miss something?!?

Unless I've missed it too, then I think people have jumped to a conclusion based upon the fact that Stand In The Storm is released/published in the US under Sony.

Ah got you! Meat is still with Universal/Mercury over here with a new untitled listing for October 24th.

Just to feed the fire of the rumour mill ;)

Could it be Hell In A Handbasket perhaps?

Kev

hah! lets not go jumping the gun. It's just as likely to turn out to be a 7 inch single that doesn't get released!

True enough, just thought I'd say it before anyone else does :))

I'm not going to go chasing everything this time. Not worth the time and effort when you put all the work in and then Play get a signed exclusive etc! I won't be the point for breaking insider news this time hah!

Correct me if I am wrong, but the World Wide part.... thats a really good thing for all not in the USA right? Like its more streamlined now, everything with the same people.....

I only wish I could get our security & fire systems streamlined like that at work ha ha

Maybe they could park it outside Jim's house while in NYC...

The good thing is that we run a lot of Sony artists official online stores and usually get fantastic exclusives to give away with new releases!!!

sounds good

Hopefully the fact it's one record company for worldwide distribution means that there will be that plus the proper promotion from their side of things.

Agreed .. and perhaps better co-ordination and simultaneous worldwide releases on-line at least.

And record 'We're Still The Children' complete with sleigh bells.... I think that would be a really moving Christmas song, especially with the war references.

Anyway, back in the real world.

Also with one worldwide contract, as the move towards downloads hurtles along, those who like me still prefer to have a physical copy of an album, might hope that whatever happens Meat could still offer them via one central point eg meatloaf.net even if they were not readily available elsewhere for everyone.

So anyway a thought about meat's mobile recording studio...

do you think there's more of a chance that he'd be able to take this on tour with him and use it to record shows and release them for sale on eBay as I seem to remember him having the idea for during the CHSIB tour?

 Do Sony believe in singles?

for some reason the thought 'carlsberg don't do singles...' came into my head

i think either way it's going to be a whole itunes download thing for any singles, since it seems to be the main way to go.

plus artists & record companies tend to get very little back against the amount it costs to distribute and produce the packing for the singles.

anyway if meat has a permanent studio to work in, it gives him more options to experiment with different styles (should he so choose) and a lot more trial and error without having to worry as much about recording costs.

Sony very much do. Most of the Stores we run usually end up with 3 or 4 singles from the albums, even if the album has dropped off the chart so hopefully the same will be done with Meat.

I've already started discussions with BMG with regards to exclusives etc.

His own mobile recording studio. I'm so happy for Meat Loaf. Hot Patooie bless his soul! He really loves his rock and roll!

Boneyard is a smash! And most of HCTB could be a single on its own. And songs like Madness I was again listening today, WOW Man. :D You Got it! You Got it!! And the evolution of the NLE over the past ten years.. Hats Off!

Cheers,

Anthony
