SUPPORT THE PAINTED TURTLE at Loafdom for the Turtle

Loafdom for the Turtle in affiliation with, and the full endorsement of The Painted Turtle, has launched a fund-raising website to support this innovative year-round camp that provides children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses a chance to have a life-changing experience. Meat has taken this charity to his heart. We know many of you here have, and we hope his legions of fans around the world will want to do the same.

On our website you can purchase the first in a collection of wristbands, and browse our CafePress store for a range of customised items from Tshirts to teddy bears, and accessories, mugs and clocks. Some featuring the Turtle, and some designs we hope will appeal to Meat Loaf fans. At least $3 from every band sold will go to The Painted Turtle, and 100% of commissions from CafePress items will go to them directly.

The wristbands will be posted by one of our distributors in Australia, UK, or USA; CafePress ship worldwide to you direct.

Full information is available on www.loafdomturtle.net (http://www.loafdomturtle.net/) together with a forum where you can suggest ideas to support and grow this venture, or ask any questions you have. It has excited The Painted Turtle, who couldn't be more proud to be associated with Meat, who has done and continues to do so much for them, and his wonderful fan base which they say have been nothing but magnificent!

Please visit our website and help support this remarkable and inspiring organisation provide the gift of a lifetime to many children; laughter, fun, and life-changing personal growth. Their lives will always be full of challenge, but everything they gain at The Painted Turtle will help them face and meet those challenges throughout their lives with new confidence.

TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE SUPPORTED US OVER THE PAST 2 WEEKS

It costs so much to provide the unique experience of The Painted Turtle camp to children with such special needs and challenges .. $1500 for a full week for one camper. A huge thank you to those who have supported us so far through buying wristbands and items from our shop ..

To date you have helped us raise the money to sponsor a child for a full day at camp, to supply face paints for 2 Carnival nights, and provide bait for "Kiss and release" fishing .. and isn't that last a wonderful way to describe it?

Thank you so very, very much. You have directly helped to give fun, laughter and most of all, the gift of a full day at this magical camp to a child and will help them change their lives. You should be proud. :D

YOU ROCK!!!

Please keep helping us :) We'll be adding a new design to our wristband collection next month, we have so much on offer in our CafePress store, and you can help us spread the word, and recruit friends and colleagues to support us by buying bands or items from our store.

Yes, we want to introduce a new one to the collection each month :) .. different effects, colours and inscriptions. But like Meat, we're keeping the details of what's coming next under wraps .. he's not the only one who can tease

But September will see, as Mark says, a two colour swirl .. what colours? You'll have to wait and see ;)

MONTH END REPORT: AUGUST 2011

In the 3 weeks we have been up and running we've raised $388.50 from sales to be sent to The Painted Turtle from sales of wristbands, and when the CafePress commissions clear we will have raised a total of over $500.

A HUGE thank you to all the Meat fans who supported us and showed they want to help The Painted Turtle; together we have funded a full day at camp for a chronically ill child whose life will be immeasurably enriched as a result.

To paraphrase the man we follow .. Thank you, you made us what we are!! To quote a camper, "It was the best week of my life - I am not kidding! .. It was just magical, everything was amazing. The counsellors, the camp, the people. It was so awesome."

Please help us to reach out to ALL Meat's fans around the world, to your friends and your colleagues who simply care about children; pass this on and continue to support us so that we can help The Painted Turtle more. In three weeks together we've funded a full day at camp .. let's work towards making that a full week a month, so Meat's fans can say they send 12 children to The Painted Turtle camp every year, and help change 12 deserving and courageous children's lives. Meat has changed so many of our lives. We can surely do this for the charity he holds so close, and make him proud.

From our hearts to yours THANK YOU .. and NEVER, EVER STOP ROCKING!!!

I can't possibly add anything more to what Caryl has reported, but do want to highlight this point:

To paraphrase the man we follow .. Thank you, you made us what we are!! To quote a camper, "It was the best week of my life - I am not kidding! .. It was just magical, everything was amazing. The counsellors, the camp, the people. It was so awesome."

I can tell you that being part of the Loafdom for the Turtle team is one of the most soul-enriching endeavors I've ever been involved in, and as someone who lived the explosion of BOOH onto the scene in 1977, I've been around for quite some time!

The quote from the camper says it all, and simply buying a wristband and/or one of the treats from our store, and passing the word about this cause will instill a warm and cozy feeling in your heart as well.;)

Thanks Michelle .. and thank you for all the ideas and enthusiasm .. it means so much :D We could do with more like you ..

The CafePress shirts etc aren't cheap, but they're really good quality, wash time after time really well, and are worth the money I think.

We're still a long way from achieving our target of meeting the cost of one week at camp for a child every month .. 12 young and special lives transformed at this amazing facility every year thanks to Meat's fans, but it's early days.

Hopefully Meat' s support of what we're doing by putting the link to our site on hs FB page immediately under the link to his official site, will help us reach out to a wider fanbase and also encourage those who haven't bought a $5 band yet to start collecting ;) We have a new band coming on line as soon as stocks arrive, which should be any day now.

We'll also be introducing a budget price range of silver jewellery soon, thanks to your ideas :-) Charms which can be worn on necklaces or pendants, earrings, and a special range of skull jewellery, which is spot on for Meat fans

And we've launched fridge magnets which can be purchased from our site from $4-4.50, post included, thanks to a suggestion by SuieQ.

Hi Chris,

Aren't the doggy tees cute? ;) We have cats, and they do get outside once in a while, but I don't think they'd ever tolerate a kitty tee. Cats have such odd personalities.

eg If you wanted one of each, buy 2 new ones but tell us you want one new band and one original. We don't want to charge you 2 lots of postage, so if you do this until we've figured out how to change the system we can manage to accommodate mixed orders.

Hi Juniper,

Just to let you know, jewelry comes from the UK, and with international orders, we have to allow for a bit more than our quoted 10 day window for deliveries. I'm certain you'll receive your bracelet soon, if you haven't already, and you're going to love it. Mine has quickly become one of my favorite possessions. :D

We have a skull necklace coming out very soon - it may be available for sale today, I haven't checked yet - and I'm going to be one of the first in line to order. ;)

Just in case you're interested in buying a wristband or two, they'd be sent by me, and I live in Pennsylvania.

We have a skull necklace coming out very soon - it may be available for sale today, I haven't checked yet - and I'm going to be one of the first in line to order. ;)

Just in case you're interested in buying a wristband or two, they'd be sent by me, and I live in Pennsylvania. absolutely no worries!

Ah, glad you like the bands, Deena. :D Thank YOU! You're a great friend of the Turtle. ;) Keep in mind that you need to put them under a light bulb for maybe an hour to "charge" their glow feature, and they'll then be good-to-go. They keep their charge forever. I wear my two all the time, and never re-charge them. They just keep glowing from the light they pick up during the day, I guess.

That's so cool you have all those pendants!! I have the oval bat pendant - five bats against a bright cream moon against a night sky. Hmm.....the Red Scarf tee, the Bat Attitude black tee and the Just Loafing tee. And my favorite, the skull bracelet. :D

And, plans for lots more skull tees as gifts for Christmas (for my son and myself -) and definitely the new skull necklace for myself.

I'm sorry there's not a picture available yet. If you can picture a longish, thinish, snake chain, with three skulls free-hanging from it, you've got a mental picture. Our web-master is on vacation this week, but I'm thinking that she may post the picture which would make it available for sale if she finds a moment to do so. Otherwise, it will certainly be available next week. :-)

Just remember that the Limited Edition Jewelry, and the skull necklace falls under that category, will ship from the UK, and the delivery time will be a bit longer, but the wait will be well worth it.

Good chatting with you!! Keep rocking! :D And, if you would continue to pass the word about the mission of the Loafdom of the Turtle, it would be so appreciated. In Meat's own words, posted by himself to his own page, The Painted Turtle is his favorite charity, and he thanks all those who support it.

What better nudge to those who care about what is important to him is there than that?!! :D

I got a lovely newsletter from The Painted Turtle today, there was a column dedicated to Meat! Here is what it says:

Meat Loaf

(He Would Do Anything For Love and The Painted Turtle)

Over the past six years, music legend Meat Loaf has become a hero in the eyes of The Painted Turtle as time and time again, and often singlehandedly, he has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help support our organization.

Through his ongoing participation in Don't Forget The Lyrics, Celebrity Blackjack, NBA Celebrity Fantasy League, Celebrity Charades, and most recently and publicly on The Celebrity Apprentice, Meat Loaf has raised enough money to send over 500 children to our summer sessions - more than half of the number of children we serve each summer!

Meat Loaf's generosity goes far beyond simply writing a cheque. An asthma sufferer, Meat Loaf has visited The Painted Turtle to meet and talk with campers and their families, offering wordsof encouragement and understanding, and even laughing uproariously when a young camper (not old enoughto be a fan) called him "Meat Ball."

His tireless and impassioned advocacy for The Painted Turtle, which he expresses through a host of charity events, on stage, in front of the camera, online, and through many other forums, has had a tremendous impact on the awareness of people nationally and internationally about The Painted Turtle.

This was most noticable when, after his first win on The Celebrity Apprentice and his expressing such emotion far and devotion to camp, our Facebook fan base increased by over 1,000 people. Shortly after, contributions began coming to us from fans worldwide, all of whom cited Meat Loaf as the catalyst for their donations.

Meat Loaf is a man who has used celebrity as a platform for good and positive change, for the opportunity to make a difference.

With hard work, emotion, determination, and exuberance Meat Loaf has lifted The Painted Turtle into his own personal spotlight in order to make a difference in the lives of children who are searching for a brighter day.
~ Acting Executive Director Blake Maher

Just quietly..... my Grandma called Meat "Meat Ball" once, she still says it by accident sometimes too. Lol

Sorry Mel! ;)

And, just for the record, bands going anywhere other than the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand are shipped from the United Kingdom by Caryl.

She's got the biggest zone - England and the Rest of the World - wherever that may be! :D

Deena and Juniper:

Isn't it great! :D It should be available this week, and I will be among the first customers. ;)

I have made a note to post here when the skull necklace, and some other really rocking stuff, is available to purchase.

In the meantime, you can check the Loafdom for the Turtle website - look for "OTHER ITEMS" in the right-hand corner of the screen - hover over and click "Limited Editions". That's where you will find the skull necklace, etc. The Loafdom for the Turtle address is below my signature.

Thank you for being such great friends of the Turtle! :D Your purchases serve to help put smiles on the faces of chronically ill children, and that is a very good thing, indeed!

CHRISTMAS CRACKERS??

For those who enjoy Christmas Crackers as an essential part of the Christmas celebrations Loafdom Direct can offer easy assembly cracker kits with great gifts included. They are packed flat, include the snap, and all you need to do is roll them up, and pop in the supplied hat, joke, and gift.

We can offer a pack of 4, including these gifts:
One key-chain
One bookmark
One silver plated necklace with large butterfly or skull pendant (your choice)
One silver plated bracelet with 3 turtle charms

They will sell for $14 plus postage rate as our jewellery collection (representing well over $20 value). As we have to buy in the cracker kits we will need firm promised orders, and need to know by the end of this week in order to get them out to you in good time for Christmas. Please post here or PM me if you would like to order.

CHRISTMAS CRACKERS??

If Christmas Crackers are news to you, we share something because until Caryl mentioned them to me, this American had never heard of them. And, even then, I thought they were something one ate!

Caryl's Loafdom for the Turtle duties keep her far busier than do mine as a rule, so I'm going to give a capsulized version of Caryl's explanation to me of the Christmas Cracker.

Okay, I thought I was until I tried to remember everything Caryl told me! What follows was taken from an ad on the internet I found for Party Crackers:

"Crackers" are decorative party favors widely used in Great Britain to celebrate a variety of special occasions and festive events. They consist of a beautifully wrapped and decorated cardboard cylinder containing a paper crown (tissue party hat), a motto (British joke or riddle), a snap (popping device), and a small gift or novelty item.

At dinners and parties, crackers are used to decorate individual place settings and are usually opened prior to serving the meal or refreshments. The pulling of crackers and donning of the party hats creates a relaxed, festive atmosphere certain to get any party function off the ground. Crackers provide a colorful and exciting start to any celebration, and also present each guest with a gift by which to remember the days events.

At Christmas, crackers make great tree ornaments, stocking stuffers, and welcoming gifts for visiting friends and relatives."

I'm thrilled at the idea of introducing my family to the traditions of another country, and as Caryl has noted, the gifts to be included with our Christmas Cracker four (4) pack:

One key-chain
One bookmark
One silver plated necklace with large butterfly or skull pendant (your choice)
One silver plated bracelet with 3 turtle charms

are hardly shabby little tokens!!

If interested, please take special note of Caryl's message concerning time constraints, etc., and the need to either post here or PM her if interested.

Thank-you on behalf of all of us at the Loafdom for the Turtle. :D

Whenever I've spent Christmas in the US I've always taken crackers with me .. and my US guests have loved them :) I've used the kits for years now, putting small gifts in hem. This year I shall be putting Loafdom silver in them .. much nicer than the plastic compasses and play "rings" that tend to be the standard gifts in the ready made ones these days :)

They're dead easy to make up as all the work has been done, save rolling the into a tube, fitting the cardboard "lugs" into the slots, squeezing them where the cut out bits are to make the cinched in ends .. just pop the hats, jokes and gift in before you squeeze the second end. Takes less than a minute a cracker, and the snap is usually already stuck to the inside. Then on Christmas day you hold one end, the person next to you grasps the other ... you both pull.. and BANG!! .. and the cracker pulls apart and out pop the hat, joke and gift :)

We used to make them with crepe paper, loo roll tubes in the centre, and two tubes, one twice the length of the other, having to twist the paper and fasten it .. lol .. but this is much easier :)

Give them a try .. and you'll find they become a part of your Christmas :) And you can always substitute a small toy or model for one of the gifts in the kids' ones and keep the necklace for yourself .. lol

LOL! I'm glad I wasn't the only daft American, Deena! I'm teasing about being "daft". We were simply "uniniated", but now we know. ;) The standard gifts Caryl mentions remind me of what we might find at the bottom of a box of Cracker Jacks!

I don't know, Deena, but for me, things get old. Of course, that makes them "traditional", but I like to also try to keep things fresh and exciting, even if it's just changing the lights on the Christmas tree from one year to the next. And believe me, people notice, especially our little ones.

I am going to order the Crackers because of course the purchase will help the kids of The Painted Turtle, but I also think they sound like fun, and I think it's important for our kids (in my case, our grand-kids), to be aware that there are other ways of doing things - that what we do is not the be all and end all of things!

Something that's especially neat about this Christmas is that our 1 1/2 year old grandson, who is 1/4 British and who has lots of family in England, is spending this Christmas with his dad, our son, and this coincidentally will be our first year with the British tradition. :D

Thanks for sharing, Caryl!

Sue

I've ordered the crackers too, as the money goes to a great cause, and in Australia, to buy crackers with that much great stuff, you'd pay an arm and a leg for lol:D

---squeal--- All my Loafdom goodies came in the mail today! They look fantastic!!!! Now I just have to decide which one to wear first/tomorrow! (o.O) LOL

He he he, that's the hardest part! The greatest part is when you get them and open up the parcel and you have such a surprise:D, then you have to pick the one you want to wear first which is very hard lol:?:-)

I got my magnets yesterday and they are simply awsome:D:D:D

You're funny, Deena!

I've been doing Christmas shopping, but the problem is that everything I buy as a gift, I have to buy for myself too! Makes it a little hard on the budget, but I have to say that I just love everything we've got! :weee:

The man says it all :) Five crystal charms on a chain necklace for under $8, or on a slender snake chain for $8.50; or a wolf with the red roses combo from $6.40 on a necklace. For the next 3 weeks we can post overseas in good time for Christmas, whether it's a budget priced great looking gift or a solid sterling Pandora bracelet or necklace for the amazing price of $10.50 or $17.00.

That's £6 (2 boxes of After Eights!) or a tenner if you're in the UK .. and you know a sterling bracelet will look better on the wrist than the After Eights will on the hips! .. lol

And postage is just $3 flat overseas, however much you buy, and in the UK just 68p .. less than the bus fare to the shops!

And we're not simply about jewellery .. we have keychains and bookmarks for just $4

We are talking real PANDORA sterling here. The real deal from a generous supplier who recognized our need for the best price possible as a charity organization.

As Caryl once described the necklaces, they are silky, sinuous and sexy.

I wasn't about to trust "Santa" to take the hint; I did my own Christmas shopping for myself. :weee:

I'm really pleased you like what you have so much Cherry :)

The rings are Tibetan silver .. ie an alloy containing silver but not solid sterling. We have some at $1.50-2.00 which were a donation, and are lightweight but still pretty .. and some for around $6 which are much heavier and more solid, and are still good value. Some of our necklaces and bracelets are silver plated, but we also have some hallmarked sterling ones which are solid silver and very reasonably priced, absolute bargains really :) We don't have the overheads that stores have, need to pay no wages ;), and simply add a little to the cost of each item for the charity on the basis we'd rather sell more for low margins than sell a few for larger ones :-) And that's working out :D

This is a new pendant in the range we will be getting on-line soon .. The Giving Tree :) And that will be available on either a silver plated or a sterling chain

:cheer: Good for you, Deena! I'm probably far older than you, and you should see the looks I get when I'm doing banking, shopping, whatever. Some people love my skulls (full skull bracelet and three skull necklace), and others just stare. :D I've always been a non-conformist (not to extraordinary extremes!), and I'm actually amused by the stares.

I suppose it's a good thing that teachers in your workplace don't have a dress code and that you get to enjoy the freedom of your own self-expression during your workday. ;)

I went to the doctor today, and he said I have bronchitis. Yay me!

Anyway. Even when I am sick, I can still have a LIL' BIT of a creative moment... While waiting on my prescription to be filled at Walmart, I thought of a way to display my necklace pendant charms.... It's NOT the most elegant thing in the world; but it's cheap and it WORKS! Plus, now I don't have to fish around the jewelry box trying to find the one I want; they are all displayed individually! :D

PS: And no, not all of these charms are Loafdom Direct/CafePress merchandise... But I would say at least half of them are (with more on the way)!

Because today we have launched our Murano glass beads with sterling silver core, perfect for adding to our Pandora bracelets and necklaces. Custom design your jewellery, and change it any day in a matter of moments. The beads are beautiful, so many different colours, each one unique, and when they catch the light and it hits the silver core the colours change and dance .. And our prices are really low too! We buy at low cost, have no overheads, and simply add a small margin for The Painted Turtle. You won't find them with sterling cores at this price in the stores.

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd173/CarylBurton/00%20Turtle/Bringingbeadsgalore.png

And that's just a small selection of our range of colours.

I'm not sure why generally many European based UK Forum members are seemingly uninterested in Loafdom for the Turtle jewellery. You don't have to be a Meat fan or even care about his charity for what we sell to be a real bargain. I don't know of anywhere else that offers sterling silver bracelets with a Pandora clasp for as little as $10.50 (about £6.50) or the same style of necklace for $16.00 (£10.00). The cheapest Pandora necklace I've seen in the UK is around £30 and they're just plated. And it can't be our shipping costs, which at a maximum of 68p in the UK and $3 anywhere else in the world must be less than most sites and not beaten by any.

This thread gets a lot of views, so members must read it. I just find it puzzling; and puzzling too that on a UK forum most of the jewellery I send out is to fans overseas in the USA and Australia, most of whom see it on Facebook rather than here, yet our prices must be comparably cheaper for the UK/European marketplace.

This month we're set to raise $700 from direct sales. If there was more interest from the biggest fansite Meat has .. it could be so much more. Perhaps some who read the thread will check out what we offer and make a judgement based purely on quality, value and cost.

And Deena's Murano beads will be in the post to Arizona tomorrow :)

And that's some fast work considering I placed my order approx 2 hours ago! :D I can't wait to see that purple one you are sending, as well as the other 5...

Any suggestions how I can put those beads on that shelf I posted earlier? More clips maybe? Or what?

Edit:

Dang!!! I didn't see the Giving Tree charm! Ugh. Next paycheck... Hehee By the way, the ML themed bracelet is kewl. Will all of those charms be sold separately?

And I love the wolf & rose combo! I already have the wolf and am waiting on the individual rose; so I guess i can wear them both on one chain soon...

PS: Arkansas, not Arizona... But I forgive ya! LOL ;)

No bright ideas yet on how to display them Deena .. but I think better later in the day ;)

I think the only charm on the bracelet not listed currently is the handbasket, but we can put that on, although they're a better deal with the bracelet, unless you want to put them on a Pandora style bracelet, in which case individually they come with bails for that. :)

I'm fond of the wolf and rose combo too :) The individual charms look great on a bracelet or necklace .. and the large combo pendant on a chain looks fantastic ;)

And my bad re Arkansas ;) Though I can SAY it right ..

Deena ~ I hope by now the bronchitis is history. It's not fun; I know. :(

Despite being ill, you did indeed come up with a great idea for the jewelry! :D

I'm wondering if you could perhaps find a compartmentalized box to place on the longest shelf for your beads? My go-to store is a nearby crafts store - I can usually pick up imaginative finds there. It's too bad that the, um, contraption ;) isn't a bit wider. If so, an ice cube tray would probably work well. Well, I'm sure you'll come up with something.

I can't wait to purchase a supply of Murano beads myself. :-)

Right now, I'm wearing a Pandora necklace with a wolf and a rose, and it feels so good! Not to mention that it looks awesome. :) When I say it feels good, it's because I feel as though I'm wearing a page from Meat's biography around my neck.

I'm so with Caryl when I say I simply do not understand the lack of interest in this line of jewelry. I think you could probably search the net for hours and not find the quality of our line at the incredibly low prices we are asking!

Anyway, I'm happy that you are enjoying your pieces. :weee:

I agree with everything you say Caryl. I find it very puzzling too, I especially find it odd what with Christmas coming.
I have bought a number of Christmas pressies, no hassle, no mad shopping mall with people getting on my nerves ;) But most of all i find the feel good factor of getting a bargain and all the profit going to charity is immense !
I am hoping that some people who visit this thread, will at least go to the site and see what is on offer. I believe there is something for everyone, or at the end of the day buy a wristband if the jewellery, bookmarks etc doesn't float your boat !
Many thanks to all for their hard work :) Hope to post later the pics of the dogs with their awesome accessories !

Yes, thank you and the team for your hard and diligent work :D;):-) I would have thought great jewelry at a reasonable price would be a massive goer. I must be only a handful of people who are jewelry fanatics, or people just don't get it.

I would of thought people would be rushing in to not only get jewelry for Christmas, but clothes, home ware, accessories, etc too :? I know I got some LFTT clothes for my daughter and hubby for xmas :) I've received my daughters clothes not so long ago, and they are simply marvelous:D:-) She'll love them come Xmas day :D

The Goth Crosses are really something, as is all of the jewelry, but I would have thought the Meat inspired design of each piece would have got people in :? but it hasn't, and that is saddening :(

Hey. Is the Meat Loaf themed bracelet on LFTT gold or silver? Then again, to be honest, I'm not really a bracelet (or gold, for that matter) type of person...

In fact, I'm actually just hoping the little basket charm will show up on sale as an individual silver piece at some point. :D The reason is that I would love to make a necklace combo for myself! I already have most of those silver pieces ---or something similar to them, at least... So all I need is the little basket next!

But hey, that's just my preferences though. ;) You know I'll still buy something "Turtle," so don't mind me...

The charm bracelet is silver. I need to replace the photo ;) Not least because I think it will be a 7 charm bracelet wih the addition of a wolf and a rose :-)

If you want a handbasket charm in the meantime just order a Bat charm and pop a note on your Paypal payment that you want the handbasket .. and whether you want a bail or a lobster claw on it :-)

Our November payment to The Painted Turtle. That would bring a smile to the face of any man who loved this amazing organisation :D In addition we earned just over $100 in our CafePress store, which brings our total to date to over $2,300 raised :D

Many, many thanks to those who supported us by buying bands and snapping up our silver jewellery .. To paraphrase Meat, Thank you; you make us what we are :-)

And there's still plenty of on-line shopping days 'til Christmas to help us raise funds in December .. and get yourself a bargain at the same time. A hallmarked sterling silver bracelet with Pandora clasp for just $10.50 (less than £7) or a silver wolf and the red roses pendant on a sterling necklace for $6.50 (just over £4) are great deals and would make great Christmas presents .. or a keychain for £2.50, a dogtag and skull on a neckchain for £4; and just 68p shipping in the UK.

View this thread and miss out on these, and you'd miss your way home!

Can you just imagine the smile that will light up Meat's face when he sees November's sales report? :D

This is real money to help real children - the children of The Painted Turtle who are so important to Meat, and to us!!

Thank you all for your support, and let's keep the momentum going!!

Oh, how I love finding small packets in my mailbox from England! :D :D :D

Murano beads today: three gorgeous black beauties with purple swirls and little touches of green, and more colors to come. Woohoo!

Deena, I'm becoming an addict!!! :-P But it's a good addiction - helping children, and sick children at that, some of them very sick...gives 'ya a good feeling inside, doesn't it? ;)

Sue, I got my Murano beads last week, practically one of every color. Now I'm waiting on my silver beads & giving tree. I'm hoping today or soon after...

Addict? Umm, not quite there. I don't check the site for new stuff to buy EVERY day yet. Wait, then again....... Ack, I'm an addict!!!!!!! LOL  But yes it is a VERY good feeling to help such a great cause. As an educator, I always wanted to help a children's charity. And as a Meat Loaf fan, hey, let's just say the Painted Turtle fit the bill for both sides of me! ;)

You're doing a great thing, Deena ~ you're a great friend to the Turtle. I don't check our site everyday, and I'm not sure I ordered silver beads. Aww!! I know I did not order the Giving Tree, and I'm going to have to rectify that promptly. :-)

I couldn't agree more about supporting a children's charity. I can't fathom how any adult capable of helping turns a back to any child in need, and especially a sick child! And I think it's pretty obvious by now that what we offer for sale to help support the kids served by The Painted Turtle are quality goods at incredibly low prices.

Shipping costs are negligible - you live in the U.S. as I do - can you think of any online merchant who ships for less than $3.00? LL Bean doesn't count!

And you make such a good point about Meat - he LOVES The Painted Turtle - don't people remember Celebrity Apprentice??? And if someone is here, reading this, the assumption that they are a fan of Meat Loaf is pretty much a no-brainer. Sure, we have the odd "observer", but I believe they are few and far between.

It makes absolutely no sense to me why this thread is so bare. We have stalwart supporters such as yourself, but we should have DOZENS who want to help.

Okay, enough pontificating for now! :-P

Enjoy your jewelry and relish the fact that YOU are helping a great cause. ;)

I would just like to say a BIG THANK YOU, to Caryl and the team at LFTT! :D You do such a marvelous job, and it is such a pleasure to support such a great charity too :D I can't even count on 2 hands how much stuff I have bought from LFTT in the last 4-6 months of knowing about it, and through following Meat. I just can't get enough of the jewelry and other goodies, and it certainly made it very easy for Xmas shopping too. But I also adore the fact that my money spent helps put a very big smile on a childs face, and for that I am thankful for, as I love kids and I love to help those children who are sick and in need.

Anyway, once again THANK YOU!!!!!

LUV YA GUYS!

CHSIB myself Sue :) I will admit, I'm a head over heals addict to LFTT :D The jewelry..........well all I can say is I've bought plenty, and bought more today :D ;) Love it, love it, absolutely love it! :D I can't understand why more people, especially here on the forum, haven't come on board with this and bought some, or shown some support to this great charity :) It really is a no brainer, but people seem to be slow off the mark :) Even if they just bought a band, it would be awsome :)

Anyway, I can't tell you how much I love buying this great stuff from LFTT, and trying to promote LFTT :D I just hope it can take off in Aus :)

Aw, must not forget this too! I got some other little goodies to go with the great goodies I got in the LFTT cracker pack :) Something to go crackers about, I do think ;) :) So it'll be a cracker ensemble in the next couple of days, which will be fun :)

Thanks Lynn. I too am surprised at how few orders we get from the UK and Europe. Perhaps they think our prices are so low it has to be rubbish .. but it's not. It's really good value, and the quality far outweighs what you can buy elsewhere at the price, because we buy at source, in quantity, and have no middle-man costs or general overheads to cover. I'd have thought people would be grabbing our arms off at the shoulder for sterling Pandora bracelets for $10.50 plus 68p postage, and necklaces for a tenner .. you'd have to pay £30 in the shops for a plated one, and they're SO in fashion right now. You don't need to be a fan of Meat or his charity to spot and grab a real bargain I'd have thought .. :??:

Hopefully when other people see the jewellery being worn and comment, they'll come and buy, and our market will grow .. not because they're Meat fans, but because they know a great deal when they see one ;)

We can pray and hope Caryl ;) Pandora is going off like wild fire here in Aus, so if anyone I know that has a Pandora bracelet and/or necklace, I will tell them about the site, because as you say, they are damn expensive (Pandora bracelets) to buy at jewelers and to get them this cheap you'd be mad not to buy from LFTT direct :)

But we shall keep trying my dear, in the New Year, and see how we go ;) :)

SPECIAL CHRISTMAS OFFER This Pandora sterling silver necklace (your choice of 16", 18" or 20" length) with 5 beautiful blue Murano glass beads and 4 silver spacers would normally sell on LFTT for $34.50, which would be a bargain. Our Special Christmas Offer is just $30.00 (less than you'd pay elsewhere for a silver plated Pandora necklace with no beads in sight!).

Why not treat yourself or someone special, snap up this bargain, and help The Painted Turtle? It's not on our site as it's just on offer until Christmas, so PM me if you want to snap one up :)

Some may have read my comments about the wolf with the red roses elsewhere, but I have to say it again....

Wearing my wolf with the roses is like carrying a piece of Meat's history with me. And, not only does it look great, that special tie to Meat feels wonderful. ;)

I can't fathom how any woman who loves jewelry (are there any who don't, no matter what the style?) could pass up deals like these. :-P

And so important to remember is not only will you be treating yourself, each purchase you make helps The Painted Turtle. :D, and that too feels wonderful!

Happy Christmas and a wonder-filled New Year to all who have supported our fundraising for The Painted Turtle. Thanks to you we will have raised close to $3,000 since we started in early August. With your help we will raise even more next year. Last month we raised $800, so a target of $10,000 next year doesn't seem like an impossibility :-) That would provide a magical and life-changing experience to 6 children, and restock the Well Shell pharmacy.

HAPPY NEW YEAR from Loafdom for the Turtle, and to everyone who has supported us in whatever way you could, we thank you for helping us to raise $3122 in 2011 for the children served by The Painted Turtle, $2,718 of that from direct sales of bands, magnets, jewellery, and calendars.

One young camper at the Kidney Disease and Transplant Session this year wrote

"My favorite part of camp was figuring out that I can conquer more than I ever thought, and I learned things about myself that I never knew."

That's what your support enables, that's the special magic of camp and their children's courage and journey that moves Meat to tears. We thank you so much, and hope you will continue to support us next year when we hope to raise even more to ensure as many children as possible get to experience what The Painted Turtle provides .. in their words

"With your help we have created a wonderful world where kids with serious illnesses can live life the way children should"

All of you who have bought a band, a T-shirt or a teddy bear, some jewellery or a fridge magnet, downloaded a 2012 calendar (still available), or simply reposted our messages and spread the word to your friends .. you have played a part in creating that very special world, and we are proud of you.

http://www.loafdomturtle.net/

A wristband costs so little, but helps create an empowering new world to a child fighting serious illness.

Thank you.

Awwww I am soooooo happy with my new wolf and rose necklace that it isn't funny, hehehe ;) But it is great! :D Out of all my collect of Loafdom jewelry, it would be my proudest possession at the moment I think ;) It has a great significance to Meat imo ;)

The pink bands are awsome too :D My daughter loves hers :D Her eyes lit up when she saw what I had for her :D

LFTT does an amazing job, and I more than happy to support LFTT :) I know some of my Aussie friends and family members have given positive comments about my LFTT jewelry :) Now we just need them to take the next step, and go to the site and purchase ;) But I suppose it is like the old saying goes "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink" ;) So we'll see what happens ;) :)

After our success raising funds at the London signing, we are calling for volunteers to help us for 40 minutes or so before the shows on the tour to sell bands, bats and jewellery to fans in order to raise money for Meat's much loved charity.

In the USA the shows we will be taking merchandise to are:
The Wellmont Theatre Montclair, NJ
Thu State Theatre New Brunswick, NJ
Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center Canandaigua, NY
Bergen Performing Arts Center Englewood, NJ
Sands Bethlehem Event Center Bethlehem, PA
House of Blues Lounge Showboat Atlantic City Atlantic City, NJ
Seneca Allegany Casino Salamanca, NY
Bank of America Pavilion Boston, MA
Tower Theatre Upper Darby, PA
Casino Resort, Biloxi, MS

So if anyone going to one of these shows is prepared to arrive about an hour before the doors open, or is attending a M&G and thus likely to be out of that well before showtime, and is willing to help TPT and the many deserving and courageous children it serves, please PM me. Together we can make a real difference :-)

We will be doing this for the UK tour as well, where we hope to cover all the shows. The more helpers we have the better we'll do, and it's much easier working in pairs ;)

All helpers will be given an ID badge:

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd173/CarylBurton/00%20Turtle/ID.png

And in preparation for the tour we now have the blinky bats on sale :-)

This a new bracelet LFTT will trial at the shows, and if it goes well will introduce to our range in the autumn .. a Nomination style bracelet. Nominations are Italian stainless steel unisex composable link bracelets, stretchy like watchbands, with a wide range of gold or enamel embellished charms you can insert, each time replacing one of the links. The starter comes with one charm, and as you collect charms you save the links, gradually building your own second bracelet free ;)

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd173/CarylBurton/00%20Turtle/Nominations01.png

Ours will be Italian stainless steel, the same 9mm size (so compatible with any Nomination charm in any retail outlet), and will sell at c$15 which is a big reduction on the official bracelets which start from $60/80 upwards. We will stock a range of charms, but there are thousands available. You can find souvenir charms for holidays, initials, cats, every kind of dog, and more medical conditions/allergies/medications than you could throw a stick at! ;) They make an elegant, stylish and personalised bracelet which is great for everyday wear, yet looks good enough to wear out in the evening, and they suit men as well as women (offering the answer to "What the hell can I get him for ..." .. lol). They come in highly polished or matt finish, look great, and the more charms you add the more interesting they become :) And the composable link design means we can offer them in the widest range of sizes, so they can be a perfect fit for the smallest or largest wrist :)

And Deena will have a special starter bracelet at Austin, Texas .. the centre one in this photo

Have you seen the latest photos from the tour this summer and wondered where you can get your hands on a pendant just like the one Meat himself is wearing on stage? Well as well as having them available to purchase at aselected number of shows this summer we've also got a limited quantity available to order online.

LFTT will be offering our deluxe Meat calendar again this year, either as a download or as the 28 page glossy special :) Because of the cost of getting them printed we'll need to know how many people will be interested in purchasing one of the printed ones. As they are two weeks to the page they are quite an expensive print job and will probably, as last year, be in the region of $20 plus actual postage.

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd173/CarylBurton/InterimCover.png

We will also be offering a more modestly priced desk calendar, one month to a view, which will have a series of my concert photos. This is likely to be priced at $12 plus $1.10 postage in the UK, $3 for Europe, and $4.50 for all other overseas destinations. The desk calendar is 21cm x 10cm (roughly 8.25" x 4") and looks good enough to grace any desk ;)

Thank YOU!!!

As many of you will know, this summer LFTT went to a number of Meat’s shows on his Mad Mad World Tour in the USA, with his blessing, to sell wristbands, blinky bats and jewellery to raise money for The Painted Turtle.

We raised a grand total of $3,325 for The Painted Turtle, and have another kind supporter who will be selling at the show in Minnesota, which should raise that figure further.

We owe thanks to so many people in addition to those who made purchases (including Patti and Paul), to Frances and Kelly who bought from us and helped us at the Meet & Greets, and to Meat who supported us all the way and wears our Multi Skull pendant every night on stage.

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd173/CarylBurton/Thanks02.jpg

Thanks to those who made donations towards funding our venture:
Marilyn Burrell, Jenna Gray, Michelle Hall, Shay Jansen, and Lynette Taylor. A special thank you to Karen Zavaglia-Guarino who funded the supply of 100 blinky bats. These sold at $5 each

Thanks to the many who said “Keep the change”. We don’t know your names, but we are grateful for that little extra. And thank you to Chris Palmer for that white envelope with a wonderful donation at Atlantic City.

Thanks to those who helped us sell at shows:
Deena B Jarrett (and her friend Kandace Chambers) and Dani Mueller who sold on their own at Austin and Hammond respectively, and Tee Jay Aubuchon who will be selling solo at Minnesota.

And to Marilyn Burrell, Chris Clark, Bobbie Farr, Sue Lacina’s son Jonathan Marko, Suzanne and Jeff Valentine and their sons Chase and Matthew, Sherrie and John Williams, and Amy’s son Alex Wright who all helped us at other shows, and to Alex for selling two bands to some callers at his home when we were out. Alex is autistic, and this sale was very special to us.

And a huge thanks to Amy Wright, who ferried Caryl around so many shows in the North East, and who sold indefatigably at every one of them!

During my absence in the UK we were able to continue selling a limited range of jewellery on the site. A big thank you to Maggie Riley who went to my house each week, and packed and posted out orders around the world for us. Largely because of her we were able to take in nearly $250 in site sales.

No-one who helped received any gifts or favours, and Mark and I have not taken anything towards the cost of the bands and jewellery we sold. Every cent we took is going to The Painted Turtle.

All of us at LFTT, including Mark and Sue and I, who sold at the shows, owe you a huge vote of thanks. Meat says to his fans, “You made me what I am”. We say to you,

“You helped us raise enough to fund 13 full days magical experience at The Painted Turtle for some wonderful children who will forge lasting friendships and change their lives forever, and the bait for at least two sessions of “Kiss and release fishing”

If it wasn’t for you, there would be no us.

And we intend to repeat this when Meat tours in the UK .. so please look out for us. And we will be needing as many helpers to sell as we can muster for those large arenas!! We’re sure that all those who helped us in the USA will tell you it was fun, and also very special to be able to raise money for a such a wonderful cause, and one that is so close to Meat’s heart.

It is with great sorrow we have to announce that Sue Lacina, one of the founding members of LFTT, sadly died on Thursday, 11 October, 2012. Sue was a good friend to many of us and particularly to LFTT, The Painted Turtle, and the children it helps. She will be sorely missed by her sons Jason and Jonathan, by all who knew her, and by us. Sue was so committed to helping TPT, and so elated every time she received an order :) We have decided to send a donation to TPT in her name rather than a floral tribute, because we believe this is what she would have wanted. If any of her friends here wish to send something to add to this you can do so here:

Pretty much :) We only work in whole dollars at the shows, so we round down to the nearest dollar, and a few things like the nomination bracelets aren't on line yet but will be by the end of the month. And we don't have the Bat Out of Hell wristbands on line yet.

Wow, I never knew anyone was involved with this after CA! COOL!

 OK, just for clarification.............

LFTT is run by a dedicated group of fans who carry on the good work of raising funds and awareness for Meat's charity, The Painted Turtle, since his apperance on The Celebrity Apprentice.

The fans involved carry on this work because as well as being a charity close to Meat's heart, they believe that The Painted Turtle is a worthy cause.

With that in mind, it's also important to note that Meat himself is not a part of LFTT.

Meat gives his enthusiastic support to, and seems delighted by the charitable activities of the fans who support The Painted Turtle in his name. He even wears a piece of LFTT jewelry every night on stage.

But he is not personally involved with LTFF in regards to day to day running, or the selection and sale of merchandise to raise funds.

LFTT is a fan run orginization.

Please do not take this as an attack on LFTT of on The Painted Turtle itself. I applaude their efforts. But the quote above seems to (my warped train of thought  ) suggest "anyone" = "someone" = "someone in Meats orginization" = "Meat Loaf personal involvement". I feel strongly about any misunderstanding concerning the extent of Meat's involvement in a fan project. Especially when that misunderstanding may be formed on a forum I moderate

If Meat has officially put his name to LFTT, or has taken on a responsible role within LFTT, i'll be more than happy to amend ths post to reflect the facts

All the best to LFTT, and keep up the great work :metal:

I didn't for a moment think you had any doubts ;)

As you say, we make it very clear on our site who makes up and runs LFTT. Mouse is correct that Meat is very enthusiastic, supportive of our efforts, and delighted at the money we raise. We did consult with him throughout the process of setting up our site, and check things out with/keep him informed/seek his permission all the time. He is as closely involved as his incredibly busy schedule allows ;) We operate bearing in mind that anything we do could be seen as being closely tied to his name, and that anything we do can reinforce its good standing, or could damage it.

He brought TPT to our attention and inspired our desire to continue raising funds in his name. His closeness is perhaps best illustrated by a recent post he made on his FB page:

Meat Loaf shared a link.

Loafdom for the Turtle have been working on some new designs in time for the upcoming festive seasons. Make sure you take a look and get some gifts ordered. And remember all funds go to The Painted Turtle and enhancing the lives of sick children.

Last year we raised $900 from our Christmas sales. Let's make it even better this year! Our Christmas range will be on site at the end of this month!

Meat's support is both invaluable, cherished, and vital to our efforts. Without it The Painted Turtle would not have endorsed us to start with. He is that important to them as a key fund raiser that setting up had to be cleared at the most senior level.

I too hope that we can make our Christmas fund raising even better this year than last year. The Christmas Crackers will be on site soon, and all our Christmas range should be on-line by the end of the month. Most of our range has much broader appeal than just to Meat Loaf fans .. we'll have a cracking variety of gifts .. and with a flat postage rate for most things of $1.10 in the UK and $3 overseas (per order, not item), it's arguably cheaper than taking the car or the bus to trail round the busy shops ;) We will also offer free gift boxes, and can supply cards so that your friends will know that their gift was also a gift to some very special children :-)

Thanks to all those who have sent a donation to us which we will send to The Painted Turtle in Sue Lacina's name rather than send flowers. So far the total stands at $160. We will add the final total to the funds we raised via our site in September and send it in Sue's name at the end of next week. We will let you know what the final amount is. I know whatever it is, Sue would have been proud and happy that her friends had done this for the children she cared about so much. Thank you too, for all the lovely messages you have left on the guest book.

If you still wish to make a donation, even a dollar, you can do so on our site here:

All Christmas items come with a gift box .. some with a mini stocking and a selection of chocolates .. and our flat rate shipping however large your order, which applies to everything bar the crackers, is less than the cost of getting to the stores.

Don't fight your way through the Christmas shopper throngs. Buy LFTT and know you're helping make a difference to some wonderful children :) We made $900 for The Painted Turtle, the charity Meat loves and supports, last year .. As he said .. let's do even better this year :-)

We we are the answer for low-priced Christmas gifts. No shopping hassle, no parking problems, low shipping costs, and every gift is also a gift to some very special children .. what could be better than that? With our fixed low shipping rates ($1.10 in the UK and $3 overseas, a little more for our Christmas Crackers), using us for your gift shopping costs less than the price of gas to get to the stores. And every gift comes either as one of our mini Christmas stocking specials, or with a free gift box.

Please check us out .. and tell your friends. We started with Meat related items and still have some great gifts for Meat fans, but most of our range would appeal to anyone who'd like to buy very reasonably priced gifts which directly benefit a wonderful charity rather than some company's stockholders.

Tickets are now on sale for LFTT's first live fundraiser on Friday 13th September in Fresno, Ca .. a benefit concert of great rock and roll!! All the bands are appearing free, the venue are making no charge, Yevonda will be selling our jewellery, and we hope to sell all 550 tickets for entry to the show.

Whatever we raise will be matched by Newman's Own Foundation and the SeriousFun Children's Network, so please pass this on to all your friends and ask them to do the same; somewhere in those ripples there will be folks near Fresno who could get there for the concert.
Buy tickets at:

And all of you who won't be able to make Fresno? How about buying a souvenir ticket together with a friendship bracelet .. $10 + 50c towards postage. $10 will go to the charity

A big thank you to all of you who come here, view our thread, and visit our site to make a purchase or donate. This thank you is for you too .. without you it wouldn't be possible :-)

And remember .. if you can't make our benefit concert in Fresno, buying a souvenir ticket together with a friendship bracelet will help the camp re-open and put smiles on those deserving children's faces .. Just $10 + 50c towards postage, and the full $10 will go to the charity

You hit the nail on the head Caryl, if it weren't for the great donors and supporters of LFTT non of this would be possible. You guys are all awesome and greatly appreciated. Thank you for everything you have all done and for helping spread the word about LFTT.

You guys ROCK!!! :cheer:

Tuesday Morning .. and just two more DAYS to go and it will be Friday 13 September, the date of Loafdom for the Turtle's first benefit concert at Fresno, Ca, organised single handedly by Yevonda Buchele, a Meat fan who is not in the "business", and who has secured a 550 capacity venue for nothing, three great rock bands free of charge, and arranged local media coverage. This is as far as we know the first big benefit concert pulled off by any Meat Loaf fan to raise funds for The Painted Turtle.

You can buy tickets in advance for $10 here:
http://www.fulton55.com/event/348727-turtle-loaf-benefit-for-fresno/

Or be with us in spirit by purchasing a souvenir ticket and leather friendship bracelet for $10 + 50c towards postage.

If Meat had organised his the community would be buzzing .. but it was simply Yevonda, doing it for the charity Meat loves ;)

Well .. congratulations Yevonda. I'm proud to know you :D And I hope you sell out, and we can send TPT a BIG cheque!!

Loafdom for the Turtle's Christmas Store is now open. Last year you helped us raise $2000, and we would love to beat that this year. Shop with us and make your friends and family, and your purse smile .. but most of all each purchase brings a smile to the face of a chronically ill child when they experience the magic of The Painted Turtle :-)
