If Meat said OK, choose a song from my catalogue to hear re-recorded, what song would it be? For me it would be original sin. The one from '95 sounded rushed.

Sebastian.

I'd choose a song from the DR album. I don't know what song yet, but I don't like the vocals from that album.

Some of the best bass playing was on that release imo. Heard it the most on that one. To this day I'll spin that cd for this reason alone.

I wouldn't change a thing :-)

Fun question :D

I might choose Surf's Up, Left in the Dark and Nowhere Fast if they were going to be done closer to what they were originally on Bad for Good / Streets of Fire. I've never really been happy with Meat's production of these ones. Maybe Read Em and Weep or I'll Kill You if You Don't Come Back, too. They're two of Meat's best songs which could be vastly improved in a modern studio (particularly IKYIYDCB). Not to say that they're bad now, but they'd be incredible with audio quality that was on par with HCTB.

I think I'd choose If It Ain't Broke, actually. Just because I don't really have any significant problem with any of his other songs, and this one was badly abused during it's caesarean section from (It Hurts) Only When I Feel.

I would like to hear "The Future Ain't What It Used to Be" by Meat & Patti.

Every Steinman song on BOH3...

Just one? Hmmmm. Bad For Good.

And I would erase IACBTMN from memory forever. IMO one of the few songs he ruined.

I wonder if Celine Dion had the song ruined for her after hearing that version.

I was gonna say that! I would also ask him to redo Bat 3 how he wanted it.

I'm gonna love her for both of us; my all time favourite

The stuff from Dead Ringer doesn't need re-recording, just remixing. Bad For Good on the other hand...

Bad For Good on the other hand...

Is the most perfect album ever and IMO shouldn't have been touched.

Besides ML has already recorded most of BFG. And IMO didn't improve on any of them.

I was referring to Meat's rendition of Bad For Good (the song) as my song of choice to be re-recorded, thus fulfilling the original purpose of this thread.

OIC, so we agree on something than?

I don't understand how two of my favorite artists of all time can ruin one of my favorite songs of all time.

Agreed for the most part. Wasn't always a big fan of how Meat did the 'Godspeed' part. I suspect that he didn't like that part and thus the reason why he cut it from the track and messed with it live.

Love the OS intro though. Also the fact that ML is dressed up like Captain Hook.

Anything from 'Blind Before I Stop' given a 'Hang Cool Teddy Bear' production-value would be a plus.

 Call me mad, deaf, or a fanboy, but I like that.
I've got a recording from the same period that is very much the same (apart from a couple minor differences) and I think it's freaking awesome :metal:

I'd choose ... almost everything what Meat's done is perfect, at least to me, but ... I'd choose "One More Kiss (Night Of The Soft Parade)". Why? Maybe because it's too :weirdo: for me. (Someone should split this song into two parts - slow and fast.)

=====

Meat's version of "Bad For Good" (from "Bat Out Of Hell 3") is (in my opinion) fantastic.

I would like to hear Bat 3 the way Meat wants it and add Patti's vocals to all the Bat 3 duets. Also Patti's vocals on IICHY would have been awesome.

I really like it too. There's a wonderful effortless ease with performances from this era - Meat makes astonishing vocals look easy.

Despite the fact this was 24 years ago, he still did awesome vocals at the Royal Albert Hall in 2006 and Wembley in December 2010.

What a voice. The live version back then was so much better than on the Bat 3 tour. This would be my choice if they used the arrangement in the video.
