I thought I'd share with you all how fantastic I'm doing with my diet, I've lost 34lbs in the last 6 weeks! Yes I did say 34lbs! The diet is very strict ,the only food I have to eat are 3 foodpacks a day similar to slimfast Ido not have any normal food at all. Ialso have to drink 4 litres of water minimum a day.It might sound like torture to most people and at first Idid find it tough  but the results are amazing. I now am really motivated and hope by the time I see Meat in November at Sheffield I will have lost between 5 and 6 stone. The only problem I will have is my t- shirt from the Leeds concert at Milleniun Square is xtra large  Anyone know where Ican get a new t-shirt instead of waiting until November ?

Well, I will be the first bloke to psot on here. I keep intending to start on a diet (I am the ideal weight for my height providing I either diet or grow another 4 feet!!)

It will be quite difficult as I am a little bit of a chocoholic and ahve to spend all day staring at a display of chocolate that is 9 foot square!!

However am starting a little at a time, no longer having a buttie for brekkie am now on cereal.

Will keep you posted

Wow, well done Pat! Good for you for sticking with it.
I couldn't do it as I am a certified chocoholic.
As for Chris, you keep at it and stop staring at chocolate bars, give them to me instead, I'll protect you from the calories by eating them, i will sacrifice my "diet" to help you.
Well done again.

Well done Pat. I've recently lost 1.5 stone but that took me 3 months. Admire how well you've stuck to your diet.

I'm a recovering chocoholic...... couldn't cope in your line of work Chris

Asha 1kilogram is about 2.2 pounds
so thats about 6.4 kilograms in a stone.

Hi Mrs Mouse, the best diet I have been on before this strict one I'm on now was a low fat one. You cannot eat anything which has more than 5 grams of fat per 100grams. Everything you buy these days has this info on it, the only other thing is you have to really restrict your alcohol intake :cry:Hope this helps,Meatmadpat.

Hey Meatmadpat, can I buy your t-shirt???

I was at Leeds also - 2nd standing row from front! It was half way through our holiday, we had to travel from Scarborough, done a lot of walking looking for fossils, and our feet were KILLING us!

Great Job!!!

But what means lbs??? how much KG is that (kg means Kilo Grams)

lb means pounds as in Stones, Pounds and ounces.

2.2 pounds = 1 Kilogram

16 ounces = 1 pound
16 pounds = 1 stone

For those asking:

1) There are 2.2 lbs to a kilogram.

2) An easier way to loose weight than fat or calorie counting is to restrict carbohydrates - sweets, potatoes, pasta, bread, cake ect. I know there is massive controvosy over the Atkins diet, and I am NOT on the Atkins diet, but close. I read a book by Dr Rachel Heller, she was very overweight and looked at what was happening at CELL LEVEL.

Here is the science in simple terms:

Carbohydrate turns to Glycogen in the body, under the influence of Insulin. Excess Glycogen is stored as Adipose tissue in the fat cells. Insulin is needed to "open" the cell gateways to allow the Glycogen in. No carbs = no Insulin!

The Atkins diet was devised by a cardiologist who got all the "no hope" patients - he put them on low carb diets, and they lived. Their Tryglyseride and other bad (forgot its name) substance also went down. The BBC recently did a 6 month trial, with the same results - which they did not expect, as if you eat less carbs you are eatin MORE protein (cheese, meats, eggs) and more fat (butter, cream, cheese, oils).

The rules:

Eat protein and fat ONLY for breakfast (if you have it) and lunch.

Eat carbs ONCE per day only as part of a "balanced" meal. The meal must be eaten within an hour, no restriction on amount within reason! The reason for this is to control the release of Insulin.

You get one rush around 1.25 hour after eating - enough to deal with the meal. Carry on eating, and you get a second rush which is bigger, half an hour later.

Does it work?

YES! I am 56 and have had a weight problem all my life since I was 16! Have lost a stone with this since February. Never been hungry, and manage the eating regime about 4 days a week as we are so busy all the time and sometimes I just have to eat a sandwich.

The book is excellent and easy to understand - need help send private message - hope this helps someone - it has me!

Heather.

Pat,

That is truly outstanding! Good work! I have been doing Weight Watchers for a good while, and I have lost 30 pounds or so (about two stone). However, I just got back yesterday from vacation in my birth city, and I have been fed by my two 80 year old plus grandmothers for the last month- I am afraid to step on the scale! I have plenty more to lose, lets just say that I weigh less than the "thin" Meat Loaf, but considerably more than Patti Russo! (More like a Patti and a half, I fear!) I will be getting back on track on Wednesday, hopefully to lose a stone or two more. You keep it up, Meat (both the man and his music) can be some excellent motivation!

:D Well done, this is really great news :D

I really admire you, you've done so well. I'd like to drop a dress size and I've tried several diets over the years, as I'm sure most of us have. The problem I always have is staying with it, what's the secret?
