Do any of y'all collect tour books? If so, do you use dust covers or anything to protect them? Where do you store your collection?

I'm thinking about collecting some of the older ones but wanted to ask these questions first. Thanks!!!! :)

Hi Deena :) I use 12" x 15.5" white clamshell-type flat boxes for everything like that, and they're nice because they stack on bookshelves. (I think I got them at Staples but I'm not positive) The tour books are in plastic bags, same with magazines, and for photos I use archival photo pages.

 Tour books are great to collect 8)
Most of them are quite easy to get hold of at reasonable prices, and they are a fun way to look back over past tours.

My own tour programs are kept in a desk, along with a lot of other Meat Loaf stuff.

On the subject, the ealiest tour program I have is the Dead Ringer tour in 81.

Does anyone know of earlier tour books?

Yes they are.
A few years ago I was having one of those ruthless clearouts of my garage. I was determined to get shot of Mrs. Chairboys' junk. Looking back, I can now only hang my head in shame. As a trade-off I too had to dump something. It was either the football programmes or Meat's tour books.
I should have stood my ground. The footy programmes to me were a definite no-no so the tour books went ( there weren't so many of those! ).
But, I also recycled all the MLUKFC magazines and newsletters from the 80's and 90's. I had all the editions of the Neverland Express and now they are gone, gone, gone.
I must have been going through a mid-life Meat crisis.
Please forgive me. I should have stood my ground. Mrs. Chairboys was the real option.
Only joking. In her defence, she does make a lovely chocolate cake and gave me three wonderful children.

Getting hold of the Hang Cool Tourbook was the hardest, strangely enough. Most of the others pop up regularly on eBay.

Wasn't that this one from '82 (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ckNhndOHq9s/TTctYBW9cfI/AAAAAAAABCo/ufPxTjCZ1Ts/s1600/blpg+018.jpg)? Anyway, I thought this was the complete list:

Neverland Express Euro 82
World Tour 83
Monsters of Rock 1983
Bat Attitude Tour 1984
20/20 World Tour 1987
Bat Out of Hell 10th Anniversary Special Edition Tour Book — Lost Boys & Golden Girls World Tour 1988
Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell
Everything Louder Tour
Born To Rock World Tour
Meat Loaf 99
Storytellers-tour 1999–2000
Night of the Proms 2001
Couldn't Have Said It Better
Hair of the Dog Tour 2005
Seize the Night 2007
Three Bats Tour
Hang Cool Tour

(the textual material of all but the last one are up on my website. the last one follows after the still pending redesign.)

You're quite right

How about the subject of festival tour books?

I've got a couple featuring Meat from the Liverpool Summer Pops, and one from my birthday in 1983, Monsters Of Rock from Donnington.

Can anyone recommend a site other than ebay to find them? I'd love to get a Casa De Carne one as it was my first show :(

A German fan has a great Meat Loaf blog where he also shows all the tourbooks with images (http://meatloafsingles.blogspot.nl/search/label/Tour%20Programs)

Great resource blog too as it has info on almost all vinyl, singles and other official releases

It is a rule that cake should be shared ... with me :))

Somewhere I have a disk of scans of all the old Neverland Express magazines from the 1980s fan club. If I ever find it again I'll copy it for you! Hadn't realised you were an old time member like myself and a couple of others round here. Did you ever contribute anything to those?

Rules are rules so I'll ask Mrs. Chairboys to bake a super-sized cake next time.
I joined the old club just prior to its demise but I did managed to get hold of the back copies.
I am now kicking myself that I got rid of them.
I didn't contribute anything at all. Nothing's changed there!
Suffice to say, as young impressionable Meat fan I was hooked.
Who are the other old-timers? :-)

There's a few of us around.

"mindnick", "S." "Rosie" are three that spring to mind, but there's probably others as well.
