Not sure if I'll ever have an opportunity to go to a Meat and Greet; so I would like to take 5 minutes and share you a little something... I'm sure this could be a thread where we all can... I just don't want this to be considered a private message. Pretty sure everything said here will be okay.
I'm a quarter century (25) :) I'm Anthony... been to once show in PEI, Canada last year with a solid friend. We were standing right before Paul Crook next to the camera crane ;) Scary, thrilling amazing night.
When I was four back in '91 my Dad had this awesome stereo. Every beat, every piano key was an exhilaration of the senses. I remember him playing Aerosmith's Janie Got A Gun and yours and Jims Bat Out Of Hell. He played most of the album, real loud, and real late. T'was an experience I won't soon forget. Thank You
It was a special compact disc, because it has the Bat artwork on the disc itself. I haven't seen anything like it since.
When I was 13, I was living in the place I spent all my teenage years. Just before my parents split I found Bat Out Of Hell again. This time, I had awesome headphones in the dark of course. I would play Bat CD beginning to end and just everything coming off it was intense. Sometimes I'd sing along at 3AM and get into a lot of trouble heh.
This encouraged me to go to the record shop. I found Back Into Hell and Bad Attitude. Solid CDs... I remember being half way thru the intro to Anything For Love... my first listen of this song.. and I paused it. I remember it as so extraordinary, it was a lot.. I couldn't believe I was listening to it. But when I resumed I played beginning to end, and those rushes to every moment on the CD get me to this day. I hear things on all your records I never heard before. Again, Thank You :D
After my parents split, I got into the websites that are Meat Loaf. (2002. 2003.) I've had girlfriends that loved the fact I listen to Meat Loaf. But I dare not go any further. Lemme just say Thank you for Paradise By The Dashboard Light :)
So 2002, 2003 was the year of Promo, album release and tour for 'Couldn't Have Said It Better' My big brother who teased me for liking Meat Loaf loved the song "Did I Say That?" I remember responding to a radio edit, calling it Beautiful. In 2004, mom would get me the Bat Out Of Hell Live w/ MSO as a CD and a DVD. She always worked hard and did the best she can for us. So I never got them at the same time, but the CD I got for X-Mas... and DVD for my birthday. That reminds me, I got Dead Ringer in my x-mas stocking in 2000-2001... I would've been.. 14, 15 years old? The girlfriends loved Bat live.. and we always got a kick out Paradise w/ Patti Russo. I remember one girlfriend and I even to this day we will sing Paradise front to back ;)
Once again, Thank You!
A couple girlfriends later, and my bros and I was living with Mom... and I got The Monster Is Loose for X-mas.. I got into the promotion videos on YouTube and just the fury that came from that album matched my feelings I couldn't understand. Thank You...
In 2007, I got 3 Bats Live and In Search Of Paradise.. had to get them twice, this happens a lot with my Meat Loaf collection.. these items just get up and walk away =/// Enjoy both to this day.
In 2008 when my my big bro passed away. Your voice and band and Jim along with my some family and friends lifted me when I was in terrible shape. Thank you.
In 2010.. my girlfriend and child moved away. I didn't have my big brother. Things become sh!tty. And than you started talking about this new album online and on YouTube. Love the clips. You told us the character on the new album, said his name was Patrick, and he was in his 20's.
Meat, my big brother's name was Patrick, he was in his 20's. A very special New Beginning for sure. I love the album. It's spectacular... in every song, every word, every note, every picture in the album. Spectacular. Thank you.
Still digesting Handbasket and Guilty Pleasures Tour DVD. Absolutely fantastic work. I like going back and seeing videos from your 90's, 80's... funny but really neat.
Since 1991, I have nearly every Meat Loaf album. No singles. I have a portion of Jimmy stuff. But all that I will gather over time.
Meat, if you ever stop to wonder what you're doing. Many of us love you and your gifts. I hope you get to read this. Most of your films and television is exceptional too. But that's for another time... Maybe I'll make a Meat Loaf blog.
All the very best.
