I have to admit to having sung "Cilla Black" a few times...admittedly I was 8 but still!

In fact, way back when were used to get the RVM fanclub newsletter I remember there being a piece on mis-heard lyrics so you're not alone!

I foresee this thread turning into a general misheard lyrics thread.

Just incase it does how about a couple that always made the child version of me giggle..

See that girl, watch her scream, kicking the dancing queen

LOL well a bit off topic but this was on Dutch tv a few years ago. I'm sure there is a full clip somewhere but you get the idea (only the opening is in Dutch)

(Referring to the fact that the Manfred Mann version was the only one to make to number 1)

I heard it originally, 20 odd years ago now, as 'a Cilla Black fan on bike', which as you can imagine, was a startling surprise given the otherwise awesomeness of the song. Luckily this didn't last long ...

If you want a real laugh about misheard lyrics you need to look on youtube for a fella called Buffalax, Think his current name there is something like BuffalaxFanboy but search on buffalax.

He does nothing but subtitle videos both English language & foreign with what the words sound like, One of his videos was nicknamed "Benny Lava" & became so popular that the star in it said that even in his native India he was better known for that nickname than the films he had been in.

*** SHOCKING NEWS ****

A rather sheepish looking Jim Steinman today admitted that the disputed line from Bat out of hell IS "On a Cilla Black phantom bike"

In a brief press conference Jim explained it stemmed from the late 60's when Jim had a torrid liason with Cilla after meeting her in Eastbourne while working as a roadie for The Ruttles

Disclaimer. Report is 100% more or less fake
