 OK folks, your nominations have been collected.
If you sent 10 nominations I used 10 nominations. There’s been a bit of duplication (as you can see from the list of nominations) so we needed those extra names to make this a little more interesting.
I’ve been able to tailor my own noms a little (but not very much) to give us the nice round number of 50 names in the hat.

Good catch

I don't think I read the rules properly as I included an excluded nomination!
If it's not too late to rectify this may I add Ronnie James Dio to the list (not sure why I overlooked him initially?) Pretty please.

 The rules say no.

Ronnie James Dio says yes.

Ronnie James Dio wins :yep:

I'll allow that as a last minute entry, taking the total to 51.

Surprised billy Joel didn't get at least another nomination....

He was certainly on my shortlist, but was pipped to the post by the Spice Girls.

 BTW folks, has anyone got any opinions of how many noms should be inducted this first year?

I'm thinking either 20 or 25.
Thoughts please?

Not too many! Needs to be an elite club. Have you measured the square footage of the hall?
I'm thinking between 5 and 10. Nice and cosy.

 I'm only thinking of such a high number as 20-25 for the first year to get our HOF established.
I think it also has the benefit of getting a few of the "has got to be in" nominations inducted so we can branch out with a little more variety in the future.

Next year we can reduce the ammount of inductees to the top 3-5 (or even start some categories if there's enough interest).

That's how I see this working, but i'm still happy to hear suggestions and go with the majority

I believe it should be tough to enlisted.
In fact, 3-5 is probably better. :-)

 I don't pick em, I just post em.

Would you also believe that I received one nomination for myself?

You'd believe it if I told you I was nominated by the same person who nominated the Spice Girls :lmao:

I agree with this- I think the first class should be larger.

I also think that categories would be helpful, because I know there are some people I would vote for in one category but not another- just a suggestion.

25 for the first lot, and then no more than 5 each year after that

And just checking, this is just a general HOF right, not a "Rock" HOF?

 That's the way i've suggested it.
That's why i've called it the mlukfc Legends Hall Of Fame.

Meat is rock, so we're all bound to have a particular interest, but we have other musical tastes and I think they should be taken into consideration.

One artist i'm surprised not to receive any noms (I don't know why I didn't nominate him myself :wtf: ) is Johnny Cash.
Legend.

 Ok, so it looks like we've had a lot more interest since the nominations were posted, and the suggestion of categories is something that has come up several times.

Problem is, to get everything into categories could take quite a bit of reworking to make it work, and i'm too sure how to go about that right now without deleting everything and starting over

If anybody wants to suggest categories, i'll try and work what we have into those categories, and then we'll see where that takes us.

I've also received some othwer nominations, so if nobody has any objections i'll try and work those in.

I actually was going to suggest opening it up to more nominations, since there is more interest. The more, the merrier.

I think we can try to work in categories without starting over. If I understand correctly, these are the preliminary rounds, right? Maybe once the first round of eliminations has passed, the categories can come into play? I think that's one way to include more inductees, without it becoming too "crowded"- maybe around 3-5 in each category to start?

Some suggestions for categories (besides the general Hall)l :

Musician/sideman- those who haven't done solo work per say, but have contributed significantly or are standouts on their instrument.

Songwriter- Significant contribution as a songwriter, but not performer; those who are both standout writers and performers would not apply here.

Producer- Main significant individual contribution is as a producer, although may also be a songwriter and/or performer.

 Right, i've been having a think about how this can be done better (since the increase in interest in this project).

The only way I can really make this work properly to what i've now got in mind is to start over :facepal:

On the plus side, we are going to have proper categories (which I know a few people would prefere), and if everyone who has shown intest continues to be involved, this should work out a lot better than what we're working with now 8) .

On the negative, i've got to delete over 50 threads and start the noination process all over again.

This time around I should be able to streamline it considerably, so hopefully it'll be for the best.

Apologies to those who took the time to get their nominations in and have posted on the active threads.
I hope you'll join us in the new improved version that I should be able to get up and running either tonight or tomorrow.

All the nomination threads will be deleted shortly. Again, my apologies.

On the subject of categories, there are quite a few people (John Lennon, Roy Orbison, etc etc) that could be either inducted as a song writter or as an artist.
The only way round that is to be able to nominate the same person in different categories.
Not perfect, but I think it'll work.
