View Full Version : The need of this "war"

Well, i used the word War, but actuall i'm just want to make some things clear.

There are some posters here on this forum, that keep posting and posting in a very irritating and borred way. And this is not only my opinion. I got a lot of PM's about it, cause i'm the one who says something about it.

There isn't any real discussion any more, not even in the offtopic. It is totally destoryed by that couple of posters that think they are funny and nice going. Well you are not.

If you say something, another person can react on that. But in most of the reply's its: hello, and how are you today?? Or:  or: That's nice, or any of that stupid things.

I know it is not only me who sees a destroyed forum by this way of posting. There are a lot of other members.
I'm not a mod anymore... but i do think that the mods are very lazy at this point, and they must had reacted a long time before. But still nothing... only a post: keep in calm, or something like that.
This is not an attack to the mods... only a suggestion or something like that.

I know that i'm the one who's telling this all, also know that i'm the one who will get the mud on his head.

Feel free to react or see the sence of humor in it or not. I don't care. I won't rest and won't act like nothing is happening.

Just sick and angry on the post behaviour from some posters.

The Butcher, Tim

Tim get your point, but your post whoring as well, how can this be so one sided.

I personally feel that some members are having a hard time on here. This isn't what this forum is about, it should be discussion, love, and tolerance of others.

I know that Dottie... and it is partial also my fault. And indeed it must be love, discussion and love... but i can't stand it no more. Not My forum... the one i love to visit, but the last couple of weeks not so much any more... due to several people.

Lets put it all behind us Tim, make a fresh start and if everyone keeps their postwhoring to the postwhores topic, that hopefully should bring some calm to the situation.

Dottie, i hope you are right about it. But i doubt it. As long as people like testify and jj are walking around. (you see jj, my bad sence of humor)

Hi Tim,
You were here long before I joined, so I don't know what the forum was before. You are right about the amount of posts. I can't keep up either. When I joined, there were like 300 members, now its over 480...

I can understand you get irritated when the forum you once had so much fun on, changed a bit and gets busier and busier. But Tim, there is no solution. You can't expect other people to post less...

Try to see this differently: as long as most people have fun posting this much, that's how the forum is at the moment. Don't let that spoil your fun. Do like I do: follow some topics, the ones you yourself said something, and then mark the rest as read. That way you can still have fun here. Well, it works for me... give it a try, maybe it'll work for you to?

Tim, just let it drop, it's better for your health....

We all postwhore sometimes, and some more then others.
People who have time on their hands, will post more aswell.
Anyway, if we could all keep it to the postwhore topic, mmhh difficult we would have te closed Goodnight and Goodmorning topics

Its only because their young, it would be a shame to "lose" a productive member of this forum because of a situation like this. It will burn its way out believe me - I know.

i agree with that Dottie ,but unfortunately that does not happen.

i freely admit i have been guilty of a great deal of postwhoring  in the past....but it was mainly on the postwhores topic. i learnt the error of my ways.......and now realise how irratating/annoying it can be to others

if it was confined to postwhores, Shhhhhh , goodnight and goodmorning it would be fine,
but sometimes these days you cannot tell one topic from another.......

Bren

and there are just too many posts to

That's just it, Asha. If I have a lot of time, and post on a forum when other people are online at the same time, you get the one on one conversations in a lot of topics. You just don't notice that yourself. And then you logg out, others log in and they have to read through the pile of posts I put there...

I think that's what is annoying Tim so much (correct me if I'm wrong Tim) and I can understand that. I have that too sometimes. But it can't be solved imo.

You are right about that Guppie. It isn't a Chatroom.... But that one is also being made unsafe.... :?

But okay.. i will quiet. Just leave it behind me... and you will notice when my bomb explode again
No... but i will not saying anything about it any more... (hope i can do that)

You pinpointed it Guppie, good girl - even I found it a little irksome, but l feel a word in the right place privately should take the tension out of this situation. I have been a victim of this too with Rock and Roll Dreams, but I found a kind word rather than grumpy one, did more good :D

I never visit the chatroom so don't know about that.

No, I think it's good that you tell what's bothering you, is better than say nothing and not come here because you don't enjoy the forum anymore. You just use "strong" words, and you would achieve more if you'd said it like: "Please people... all these posts in every topic... can you do that in only some topics and not in all of em? " You know... it's not always what you say, it's the way you say it :)

I understand what you mean.
It's a funny thing about forums though: either they get so busy that it's impossible to keep up, or they're dead, he he.... never seen a forum that was just right. Oh well... nothing is ever perfect right?

Ok.
I understand both sides of the argument. Some people like to talk to their friends on the forums, while others are annoyed by the ammount of new posts.
I don't like to be strict moderating as I like a relaxed friendly atmosphere, but with recent events I do think it's time for a compromise to keep EVERYBODY happy.
From now on,the postwhores topic is fair game. You can chat there as much as you want.Anybody who is botherd by it,need not read it.
Good Night and Good Morning will remain open, and used for just those reasons.
The Ssshhhh topic will be locked. There is one topic for chatting,so to have two is unneccersary.
It is requested that everybody stays on topic from now on,on all topics except Postwhores.
I hope that these decisions are satisfactory and respected by all concerned.
Rock on.
Neil

So... now we have to stay ontopic in the offtopic-section, he he..
But seriously, I'll respect that. However, I meant what I said about there being no solution.
Well... your solution is the only option, but in my experience, if the rules are strict and people have to start thinking "can I post this or that and is it not offtopic" they fall silent :?

But I do understand why you choose differently than the way I choose on my forum and I'll respect it. I just hope the new rules don't take the fun out of the offtopic section for a lot of members.
For me that's not the case, for me it will be more pleasant because maybe I can keep up with the posts. But for the majority? Dunno... time will tell.

O, forgot to say how I choose on my forum: In offtopic every topic is allowed to go offtopic, the people with less time can't keep up, but those are the folks that only visit for the meat info. I DO ask people to avoid one on one posting. I don't want pages long one on one conversation, they all have msn or ICQ.
If topics in the ontopic boards go offtopic, I just split the chat out of it and move it to offtopic.
For my forum: it works. But that's only 88 members... not nearly as busy as here.

It is a fine balance to keep.
The more rules,the less fun.
That's why I prefare a much more relaxed form of moderation. But obviously, that won't work for everyone.
I think this should be pretty acceptable to everyone.
And don't forget, one on one conversations are also available via PM

True, it's a fine line... and you never want to loose old, active and respected posters because of the way things change.
And yes, it is acceptable and I'll respect the new rules. :)
