My current favorite is The Giving Tree ... but it changes depending on what mood I'm in :-)

Read em & weep

There is just soooo much emotion in his voice. You can't help but feel the turmoil. Same goes for the video.

Barry Manilow's version is soothing. But if I'm not in the right mood to hear it, I get bored. Meat's version of the song captures & holds my attention every single time.

It changes too much to really have a definitive ONE song.

Right now, and probably the winner all time for me is the first song that I ever heard of his: AFL

I've been listening to it a lot more lately. It's the perfect song to go into BOOH2 after FCOL (I usually play them in order in a playlist).

It's the perfect song. A wicked intro, awesome lyrics, awesome keyboard work, awesome BR vocals, awesome guitar work... I could go on and on.

I'm gonna press submit now before I change my mind. :D

Has always been You Took The words followed by Frying Pan and Masculine.

Dont think itll ever change.

I heard meat for the first time with took the words on the radio. Still never tire of that song :-)

Although I tend to say For Crying Out Loud followed by Objects in the Rearview Mirror, I have to admit that You Took the Words is the only song I never 'skip'

So that's probably my top 3.

Jimmy's bombastic pieces are brilliant. No one will ever beat those. FCOL is my fav, but I don't listen to it often (too emotional).

Actually the ones that I listen most are not all Jimmy's.
- Did I say that (musically so damn well done!)
- What about love, (I love Patti!)
- Couldn't have said it better
- Into the fire
- Bad for good

And many more...there are just too much

Maybe it's also nice to open a thread about the song you most dislike?

For Crying Out Loud

Although I absolutely love all his songs and know every single word to every single song I have 2 ultimate favourites...

For Cryin Out Loud because, like Meat, it makes me cry and very emotional everytime I hear it and the lyrics are very poignant!
And...
Objects In The Rear View Mirror because it's one of those kinda childhood songs. The scenarios in the song and the way the song is constructed makes me feel like now when I look back at my childhood and all of the things we got up to and did and didnt do.

Love them! Greatest songs ever by the greatest singer and the greatest lyricist in the entire world... FACT!

"Did I Say That" . Why? Maybe because it relates to my past :| (to some parts); (partially) because with this song I discovered Meat :-) .

Very hard to choose.
Although BAT, FCOL and even Paradise are my favourites I think they actually got ever so slightly eclipsed with AFL when I first heard it and still think that way since. There is something so exciting about the song as if you are listening to pure electricity and adrenaline. I always think of songs like puzzles. Yeah you can come up with great melodies, some great ideas, some great lyrics. Piecing them together in a good way is what makes it often unique and Steinman often takes it to the max I think. And I think AFL is one of the best examples of a true master at work.

My 4 favourite songs ever anyway.

I know what i said and I stand by it, but I have to say this:

It Just Won't Quit is without a question of a doubt the greatest song ever written. bar none.

So many great songs, it can be difficult to choose.

But for me, it's still got to be Surf's Up.

Also very high on my list. Top 5.

If we're talking about Jim songs in general the Rory Dodd version would be number one. I love Meats version, but Rory's voice is heaven on this track.

 Mine's got to be Bat.
Number 2 is Lemon.
After that, I really couldn't pick.

:nope: BOOH is the greatest rock song ever written or performed. This video is was what got me into Meat and Jim. Meat in the wind tunnel and slinging his tuxedo jacket into the air - awesome

Like many others, I can't decide on just one song. Too many great ones to choose from. It depends on my mood at the moment as well.

It's an awesome live performance, and I met my girlfriend at a Meat show while this song was being performed.

Probably?

Question has been asked many times, often with almost identical thread titles.

With the number of times it has been asked maybe its time the old threads were removed and a new replacement thread was started as a sticky.

I just can't choose one, but there are a few that have bits which make me giggle, particularly my sons favourite, The Monster's Loose where he sings, "... with no protection, just one direction, destruction..."

Now as far as i know i have never heard a one direction song, so for those in the know, is this wonderful foresight!

Objects In The Rear View Mirror... I was on cloud 9 when I saw he was doing this live again and wow it was spectacular and the arrangement on this tour was amazing...

The lyrics, the power, the atmosphere and emotion the song produces... It just touches the heart! Has got to be my favorite track and after that, well its too hard to pick lol
