View Full Version : Images in signatures
I was thinking maybe it was time we allow images in signatures? have a limit of course, but wouldn't that be something cool? I know a few other forums on this type of server allow it and their communities are much larger.

Was wondering this. If they're saved to JPEG and a sensible pixel size and hosted on sites such as imgur, I think it would keep bandwith use down!

As member #5 of this forum....and a green jacket in these parts....let me offer a resounding vote of NO on this.
I'd say no as well.
I frequent a few forums where images in signatures are allowed (some restricted in size and some not) and they just get in the way of reading the posts and clutter the screen up needlessly.

 + Points.
Might brighten the place up a bit.
Extra personalisation of posts
- Points.
Pages taking longer to load.
A lot of repetition.
Possible increase in spam.
Some folks put ads to their own sites/projects in their sigs already (which I don't have a problem with BTW) but imagine what it would be like with banners :panic:
Besides, we already have avatars, profile pics, picture albums on our profiles, and threads on the forum where we can post any pictures we want to share.
Are we really so much in need of one more place to share a picture? :bleh:
I'm not dead set against the idea myself, but i'd need some convincing.

I'd like to have this in my signature if possible. It kinda describes where some of the ideas on this board come from.

I think I'd have to agree with what the majority have said and say no.
Whilst I acknowledge that they provide the option for more personalisation, I tend to think that they can be a bit distracting.

Methinks Wario should have his straightjacket reapplied and then be put back in his special padded room that has Masculine played constantly for a while. He has come up with some howlers recently.
Many modern adblocking programs would wrongly identify images like that as items to block so would make forums almost unreadable.
