View Full Version : Never play the UK again?

So, in theory last night was the last ever gig in the UK for the legend.
Do you think it will be???

I think the answer to your question is in the wording..........
Last tour? Yes
Last gig? No
And I'm just a tad confident in that
I'm pretty sure he'll be doing some promo on the upcomng album. Wouldn't surprise me if that goes with 1 or 2 shows ;) (or 10 shows at the RAH. :D As he said himself, staying for several shows in one venue isn't touring)

I like it :D Man, a return to RAH would be great

Nah he'll be coming back. Especially after the performance at Newbury!

He'll be back for sure to do some gigs in Europe. Especially if he releases a new album.
I'd love it if he did another couple of shows over here but I'm not going to be too hopeful just in case it doesn't happen.
Do I want Meat to come back to play in the UK? Of course! Do I think he will? Has to be a maybe and a prayer.
I'm not sure he needs to tour to promote a new album, and as a new album wouldn't be out at best before the end of next year, what 2015 or 2016 would hold is too difficult to guess at in terms of how Meat would feel about going on the road. I think he has no vision of touring again .. not sure that he'd change his mind a further year or so on despite the huge success he had this year.
So much would also come down to economics. Doing a few shows overseas must be hard to make viable, and promoters seem uninterested in small tours. But the thousands at the racecourse gigs were amazing .. that's some footfall, and must have been very viable for the racecourses, so I would think they would be for Meat (and the hired equipment worked fine ;) )
So perhaps if Meat dared face the vagaries of the British weather again, that could be a possibility? Something of that type, anyway.
So, I'd love a tour but have no great confidence in that happening, but perhaps two or three shows like the gigs this weekend? That might be more a possibility. The first, a rank outsider (they sometimes come in, and Meat does say "Never say never"); the second, not an odds on favourite, but in with a chance and worth a punt ;)
To borrow from Monstro .. A tour? I don't believe so. A couple of gigs? Fingers crossed!

If he's still planning on doing India, South Africa and wherever else then swinging by the UK for a bunch of shows on the way home isn't out of the question.

Perhaps, though that's a biggish IF I think .. and adding a bunch of shows would make it an extended period which I think he's tired of doing
I've only had the luck to see him twice and while I think it'd be great if he came back, I think the world is so easily traversed these days that if he plays outisde las vegas with sensibly/normally priced tickets i will certainly travel to see him. No journey could be as painful as my 8 hours on crutches at Newbury!!
And as our Hero heads into his seventies (loved the "when im 64" Meat but i think you've forgotten a few birthdays!!) I for one will happily go to him instead of him and the NLE come to us.

I hope so Newbury was fantastic so I'm craving more but than on the same vain if that was the last time I saw him I know it was a special show and the whole band made it a night to remember. I would love him to come back again and again but we'll see :)
I like it :D Man, a return to RAH would be great
The RAH would be nice, a racecourse without reservable seating and our crap weather is less so but anything would be better than nothing. ;)

The RAH would be more than nice, it would be fantastic! ;) I'm simply thinking of the economics. To be honest I wondered about the racecourse gigs, but after seeing the thousands who were there, and the thousands at Newmarket who were staying on in the cafes/bars, I could see they must be very profitable for the companies, and could make it worthwhile for Meat an the band to travel over for rehearsal and two shows.
Weather is always a crap-shoot here. I've been to see Meat outdoors in glorious sunshine, and teeming rain. This time the first show was perfect weather .. second show wasn't at all. But both were great shows :)
After seeing Newmarket, Wow he was brilliant... 110% He was a fire ball on stage :D
I'd love another RAH show, also I'd love to see him play somewhere like The Camden Roundhouse, great venue... Maybe one day.

Like the shout about Roundhouse - perhaps a one off gig for something like the I-Tunes Festival or the Electric Proms?

No , if we come back it will be on the West End with the show from Vegas . Today that is a strong possibility. Talk for this show is another run in Vegas , Chicago, New York and London.

You bet!! :D So pleased I didn't vote before, as the options didn't quite convey my thoughts. Now they do .. a big "Yes, he'd do anything .." Have to love the man's seemingly inexhaustible appetite for performing, creating and moving forward with new things .. we're one lucky fanbase!!:D

A run of the Vegas show in the West End followed by one last big ~~~~~~~ of a concert in the O2 would be good.

I totally agree.
I've always thought that we do quite well. Our man just keeps on bringing us such wonderful and exciting things to look forward to all the time.

So will I and, no matter what, I WILL find a way of affording a M&G. Almost 30 years of following Meat and not one M&G! :(

Yes PLEASE! Feeling a lot happier now; been on a bit of a downer since Newbury, thinking that was my last ever Meat show!

I wonder if there's still room for (possible recording) the 'Last at Bat' shows Or if they have to be scrapped in benefit of the 'Vegas-like' shows (and of course the CD recording).
If that's the case, how great would it be if some of the existing concert recordings could be polished enough to create a registration for either a TV special or a YouTube streaming concert or something
Not sure if it could happen (with all the different copyright and other legal issues) but what a treat would that be

Actually I meant if the LAB concerts are not going to happen (and thus no DVD recording) maybe the footage that were shot during the concerts (for the big screens) can be polished and used for a registration ;)
