Andrew G , where did you get that from !!! If we get to the West End , It will be Rocktales and Cocktails . This show so far away from an Acoustic tour it would be like moving New York to Moscow. It's a Rock show with a Meat loaf twist !!!
M
He prolly got it from that article saying its deconstructed or whatever.
Personally I wanna suggest something:
Billy Joel goes to colleges with a piano and speaks and does Q&As. Going back through the college circuit yourself with Randy and Jason accompanying you doing similar things around colleges would be really cool. I know youre not doing an acoustic show for Vegas, but if you do that for a Q&A college circuit thatd be great.
I know you said something like that a day or two ago, but just thought id give my two cents.

Which Meat has already debunked on here

Please don't ... You're not Billy Joel .. you're Meat Loaf, master of the big ride!! ;)
But go back to "Rocktales" .. like that better ;)

love the idea that you may do the show in the west end please make it happen xx
Who the ~~~~ is Jason?
Guy with the scary mask and a prediliction for hatchets and chainsaws? Guess it would certainly enliven any college show; save payback on some student grants!! .. but I'll stick with the current brilliant player with such lightness of touch

I don't know why some people get excited at the prospect of Meat doing acoustic stuff. As far as I'm concerned it doesn't really work. Meat Loaf should be loud and thunderous and with many instruments.

And we find common ground again :-)
I dunno the acoustic Took the Words was always great...

I dunno the acoustic Took the Words was always great...The arrangement was great. The choice of instruments not so great.

And it had drums! Also it was one song, not an entire show. And I still think the original "wall of sound" has a big edge ;) Fantastic in LaB this year!

Kind of agree that an acoustic tour wouldn't work, though I've long thought that if any Meat/Jim piano and vocal demos ever surfaced I'd give my eye teeth to hear them.
Meat in the west end would be bombastically brilliant, overheightened, over the top and spectacular!!!....c'mon meat!! Get LV out of the way and come back to the uk shores :0)

Totally agree!
Not acoustic, but bombastic!!
Meat at his best, really really hope West end will come true. I'll come over there and step in a damn airplane again. (I really need to get over this flight fobia, man it sucks!)
Meat on the West End is more than my heart can take...that would just be beyond immense, and what a setting!!

If Meat ever wanted to go with Harps ( & I doubt it unless someone paid shed loads of money for a recreation of MSO ) I have as a personal friend the harpist used by Led Zep & a few others.

Didn't he say he quite liked Florence & The Machine? Who knows, perhaps harps are on the comeback, although we all know the angels in Jimmy's world play guitars...

Well written songs, I think we all agree that the with very few exceptions all of Meat's songs have been well written, will always stand being played in all manner of styles from the balls out rock that Meat has given us these long years to simple acoustic.
Afterall many people would have said BOOH would have never worked with a full symphony orchestra and not only does it work but it sounded even better. On a similar front has anyone else heard Metallica's S&M Live with the SFSO? Like Meat's MSO it not only works but sounds better.

I agree. Not to say the odd acoustic number isn't good, but an entire show isn't right for Meat. It's kind of like Metallica doing an acoustic tour, less heavy but just as loud.
Also, acoustic would generally require him to sing quieter, which IMO is not his strength. He needs to be loud and in your face.
And what's that I hear? ML is performing at West Edmonton Mall?

Of course the real magic of the internet is if you search 'bat out of hell banjo' on YT, you actually find someone playing it

I searched for years to find a good version, never succeeded. However, if you were to search for bat out of hell on the ukelele, you will strike gold ;)
Totally off topic, but Gus and Fin do some great uke stuff on YT, don't think they've done Meat yet.

I think acoustic stuff is great, although I do understand why it wouldn't be quite so appealing to others. I'm not sure I'd want to hear an entire show of Meat Loaf unplugged, but a slot in the set for one or two songs a night could be cool. It could be an interesting way to approach playing material which doesn't get showcased that often - you don't lose the thunder of one of the bigger hits, which everyone is expecting and wanting to hear at a Meat Loaf show...and there's not a lot of rehearsal involved, considering the substantially smaller amount of people involved. You could put a totally different song in that hypothetical slot practically every show :D

And then a run on Broadway in New York would be perfect :D :D

So was the acoustic section during Meats very best of tour IMO! (Mainly?) covers though.
Unlikely to work with SteinMeatmusic (recent proof: "Holding out for a Hero" on the new Footloose soundtrack).

I think I posted that as a reaction to when you said you were considering doing gigs just with Randy and Justin? I had assumed that would be acoustic.
But Vegas show on West End would be great for us to see here in the UK.
The Very best of tour in 99 acoustic portions were great I remember. I was at the Glasgow show and you had a verbal fight with a loud guy in the audience during it. :-)
I think a whole acoustic show is maybe too much. Saw Springsteen acoustic in 2005 and thought it was a bit too much of the same thing. But I'm always open to ideas/new things.

I disagree. I think any song, if it is a good song should and does work on piano/vocal only. I liked the Operastar arrangement of Bat as well and know a lot of others hated it. But a whole show is too much maybe. Having said that acoustic doesn't necessarily mean everything needs to be played softly. The Angels Arise thing from Steinman sounds great and that is just piano and vocals.

I saw Colin Hay in May doing a solo, acoustic set. It was my first unplugged gig and it will be my last. He had presence, good songs, a fine voice and some funny tales to share. I am a huge fan of his but the stripped down style cannot hold my attention for 30 mins, let alone 2 hrs. A couple of tracks here and there within a full-on show is fine, but a full evening of the stuff? No thanks.
Keep rockin' hard, Meat.
