I was backpacking around Central and South America in the last 8 years and I noticed, Meat Loaf is unknown here. I was so happy when I heard a few chords from him and all happened in very strange situations and places. Did you hear Meat and Steinman songs in strange places?
Here is my list:
1) 2 years ago I was walking on the market in Antigua Guatemala. From the public toilet I've heard the chords of Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through from Bad For Good. An old lady in traditional clothes was listening it.
2) A few days ago I was walking in a local disco in the jungle village of Taisha, Ecuador. For 20 minutes in a mix I heard Nowhere Fast by Meat.
3) Again in Ecuador, in the town of Machala I heard Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young from Streets of Fire in an eatery.
4) In Belize on a bus from Cayo to Belmopan I've heard Total Eclipse Of The Heart by Bonnie, but in Spanish. Did Bonnie sing it in Spanish as well?
5) In Santa Ana, El Salvador I was in a local pub with a few local youngsters. After a few beer we started to talk about rock music. After Bon Jovi, Guns, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Queen a guy told me: "But the best songwriter ever is Jim Steinman".
I was shocked always because in Latin America people don't listen rock musicand if they listen, it's only Bon Jovi and Guns...
