According to an article I've just read, Gary Busey is due to be a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother this year. The article focused on his previous relationship with one of the other contestants but mentioned the full list of who was competing.

We know how drove his team mates mad on Celebrity Apprentice a few years ago and they weren't with him every minute of every day so I'm curious to hear how he gets on in the CBB house. Perhaps people will see exactly why Meat was driven to his outburst after this.

Yes he is .. there's a photo somewhere on the net of him in there when it started this week. He's exactly what the CBB team look for .. and I shall be spared as I never watch the ghastly programme ;) He is at least a name people will have heard of, unlike most of the specimens they manage to get ..

Like Caryl, I won't be watching. :-)

Just made the effort to check out the line-up. Oh dear!

BB MK 1 with Nasty Nick will never be surpassed.

I've never watched a whole episode of Big Brother in any of its incarnations and I have no intention of starting now.

Cheap car-crash TV schedule filler imo .. like we now apparently have celebrity acrobats .. What next? Celebrity Paint by Numbers?

I think he's said he's been asked to do most of them .. except Come Prancing .. and probably the ice skating one (still remember him saying how amazed he was at those who skated and the judges' critiques; "You landed on the wrong edge", saying if it was him they'd be saying "And your ass never left the ice!"). He has said many times he didn't realise a short telephone conversation with someone from CBB had been taken as an acceptance, and by the time he realised it was too late to get out of it, but at least he could win money for TPT and could use the experience of being on the show as a learning opportunity.

At the risk of alienating myself here, I am one of the sad few who actually enjoys watching BB! I'm a bit of a closet psychoanalyst and I love people watching, and trying to work out what makes people tick; I could sit in Waterloo station and watch people for hours!

At the risk of upsetting a few people here, I think Gary Busey has a very good chance of winning, too! I haven't worked out if he is "away with the fairies" (perhaps due to the brain surgery that he had years ago), or if he is having great fun messing with the other housemates' heads! Some of the things that he comes out with are very profound! Whether he's being real, or whether he is putting on a damn good show, he has been compelling to watch!

That said, I can now see how he was able to push Meat over the edge!

I was reading The Daily Mail online this morning and oh my gosh, it said that Gary Busey was crowned the 'winner' of CBB.

I did say he had a good chance, Jenna! Believe it or not, he was a worthy winner and, for me, it was the right result. Sorry!

We had Meat Loaf featured in celebrity opera singers...the genre cannot be all bad unless you are looking for the worst in the situation. Just because something is entertaining to someone else and is not entertaining to you does not make it "filler" it just means you have a difference of opinion, but that does not seem to be permitted in your presence now does it?

What is going on David? I merely said IN MY OPINION and referring to the show in question ie Celebrity BB, it was TV filler .. and the BB programmes in the UK do tend to fill C5's schedule.

Nothing about not being "permitted" in my presence .. simply my view, my difference of opinion. I think I am not alone either, as C5 picked it up when C4 dropped it because of continuously falling ratings. Three other people expressed their dislike of the show too; four others agreed with my comment that it is a ghastly programme. Yet you have not singled any of them out for your admonishment.

We are experiencing a plethora of these "celebrity shows" here from dancing to ice skating, acrobatics to fishing. BB is one of the worst as they have pretty much run out of UK celebrities who are prepared to countenance appearing now, so people like Leslie Jordan (who I agree is a great entertainer) find themselves lined up with a collection of footballers' WAGs, third rate models, those who have acquired some level of notoriety from being featured in TV documentaries featuring "the man/woman in the street", and the occasional ex-Soap star who hasn't appeared on TV since they were written out and hope to revive a flagging career. I would argue that it's a travesty that someone of Leslie Jordan's credibility as an entertainer finds himself in competition with the non-"celebrities" that make up the bulk of the contestants now.

I didn't actually see the show so I can't really agree or disagree with you on that one. Given the nature of the CBB show, I can see why he was a worthy winner. After all, the ones that seem to do well are often the ones who are a little bit strange, ones who have a bit of character and perhaps cause a little bit of friction.

I wonder if people look down their noses at CBB more than some of the other celebrity shows because there are less skills involved in it than something like the dancing or the gymnastics show as well as the type of celebrities that appear?

the people that do well are the people who say NO to doing the show :)

Yes, I think that's probably so. Even in CA, the only one Meat has competed in, there are more realistic "tasks" set, plus the objective of raising money for a worthy cause, whereas the prime objective and indeed hope of BB seems to be to provoke conflict between those who have entered the "House". Just my opinion of course.

 Except perhaps those who really are not "celebrities" as most of us would consider the term in that they are not known for any particular talent but who gain some headlines from the exposure? It wouldn't surprise me if "White Dee" picked up some TV work on the back of appearing on it this year, but I'd hardly consider her to have a set of skills that were relevant. Remember that unfortunate creature Jade, who made a name for herself on BB by being stupefyingly dense .. didn't she go on to get TV employment of some sort .. and then return as a "celebrity" herself to demonstrate she was racist as well as daft .. plus her mother appeared on CA didn't she? Again, just my perspective of course.
